Sorry for the longer delay than usual since the last update : I was very taken with the PlayStation port.
But it didn't mean I didn't work on the game either, and this update got its fair part of additions, tuning & bug fixes, as usual..! 🙂
New Features :
- UI : you can now raise the font size in Settings -> Misc ; this is done automatically on the 1st run on SteamDeck (for new users) - Online : you can now permanently ban a player (and unban him at any time from Online / LAN -> Banned players) - Preview : added different ball impact previews (set it in Settings -> 3D Match) - Modding : it's now possible to move the match time & speed texts (read the section "7) Moving the Speed & Match time texts around" here for explanations : topic60-34047.php )
Changes :
- AI : the Incredible CPU will now be much much harder to be aced by another CPU player (against humans, it's still the same) - Modding : modded animations aren't all loaded anymore on game start-up, to speed up the init and save some memory
Bug Fixes :
- AI : the CPU could let the ball pass after having jumped at the net - Animation : the CPU could hit the ball with his racket far from it because he didn't reach for it - Animation : some strike animations could get very strange when done while running or just after finished to run :fear: - Xbox : the game was very slow to load with big Mods
Cu next month for the 1.0..? 😋

Build 134 ; SubBuild 2024.8.26
Here we go with a maintenance update, mostly for fixing the button labels in the Tutorial, which was quite an annoying bug... 😓
There are also a few other little bugs fixed. Nothing more, because I'm mostly working on porting the game to PlayStation. 🙂
Changes :
- Online : now "Settings -> Training Club -> Online: hide opponent's preview" will also hide the opponent's aiming preview
Bug Fixes :
- Tutorial : the button labels were always for the generic controller even when you had an Xbox or PlayStation controller Tag Type - AI : in some situations, the CPU wasn't jumping at the net (note : there's no animation, the player just moves a bit fast for a fraction of a second) - World Tour : some players were getting way too strong during their junior years - Online : if an Xbox player was joining a Coop Doubles, it'd make the game hangs - Rendering : the lines were not correctly anti-aliased when the 2D Background was enabled - Xbox : having no Profile picture was making the game hang on launch

SubBuild 2024.7.26
Bug Fixes :
- Helpers : the Preview wasn't correctly set from the Help screen - Commentary : serve context was always on the 1st serve, even during the 2nd serve, giving a series of wrong comments (it was still not completely fixed by the SubBuild 2024.6.26 😓 )
Version 0.98 - Build 133 ; SubBuild 2024.7.24
Here's an update bringing a long requested feature : the Service Aiming Preview ! As well as an important fix for Xbox helping to lower Mod memory consumption, in addition to several little fixes & changes, as usual. Enjoy ! 🙂
Here's the complete changelog :
New Features :
- Helpers : added the aiming preview for the service (note : your preview in the World Tour might be changed, you can set it back to your wanted level, go to your Character Sheet) - Modding : it's not possible to rotate the NPCs and hide the middle line judge (see section 5 here topic60-34047.php )
Changes :
- Service : lowered the maximum possible spin for the very slow services (under ~100km/h), because the curve was way too pronounced - Online : raised the number of Talent Stars from 4 to 5
Bug Fixes :
- Replay : the ball impact mark could be slightly misplaced on serve - AI : in some cases, the CPU could think the ball was going into the net while actually it wasn't, leading to having no strike anim and possibly other issues - Menus : the player photos could get distorted - World Tour : disabling the Alternate Acceleration Style wasn't saved - Modding : textures whose dimensions were not power-of-2 were using double the needed memory (note : it's much better to have power-of-2 sized textures so they can get compressed and use 75% less memory !)

Build 132 ; SubBuild 2024.6.7
New Features :
- Rendering : highly optimized the distant crowd so it takes 5 times less polygons and memory, which should greatly help to lower the number of random game closing on Xbox ; in addition, on consoles, the Near crowd detail is now slightly lower (about 45% less polygons) ; in the US Slam stadium (the 2nd biggest stadium after Shanghai), the total memory use for Near + Distant Crowd is now ~500MB instead of ~1.6GB
Changes :
- Strike : when the player stands 3.5m behind the baseline or further, the acceleration depth is like before the Build 131 (to avoid too curvy accelerations)
Bug Fixes :
- Online : if a CPU player had an AI Strategy, it was making the competitive doubles desync because the Client didn't clear the Strategy
Version 0.97 - Build 131 ; SubBuild 2024.6.26
Here's an update to rebalance a bit the attack/defense, as well as fixing some bugs, I hope you'll enjoy it..! 🙂
New Features :
- Localization : Chinese translation updated, thanks to XK !
Changes :
- Gameplay : raised the Short Acceleration speed a bit, especially when it's done at shoulder height - Gameplay : hitting an acceleration against a raising/falling ball now lowers the precision on extreme cases and a bit less the accel speed (and still reduces the speed as before on normal cases) - Gameplay : accelerations are a tiny bit longer - Gameplay : All Rounder & All-court Attacker's normal strike speed bonus now applies only to the forehand and not to the backhand anymore
Bug Fixes :
- AI : the CPU could miss the ball by a few centimeters when rushing the net - Gameplay : the service line was seen as 0cm wide for the fault calls, making some balls fault when they should have been in - World Tour : some saved games could be wrongly flagged as invalid when switching between men & women in the Load menu - Commentary : serve context was always on the 1st serve, even during the 2nd serve, giving a series of wrong comments - Launch : since a recent update, the NoMod option was making the game crashes

SubBuild 2024.6.5
New Features :
- Animation : you can set back the previous running animations for your player in the Training Club by adding these 2 lines in your Tennis.ini (HowTo => https://www.managames.com/Forum/topic19-32161.php ) AnimMoveForward = Legacy AnimMoveBackward= Legacy Note : this doesn't change the tuning of the default back pose (ie: spine bones)
Changes :
- Animation : dialed back a bit the back base pose of the male player (ie: spine bones)
Bug Fixes :
- Controller : it was not possible to bind buttons & axises to a configuration whose index didn't match the controller index - Stats : the number of services was twice too big (since the SubBuild 2024.5.22)
Version 0.96 - SubBuild 2024.6.3
Here's an important quality-of-life update for users with several controllers, as well as an attempt to provide better running animations ; please answer this poll to let me know if you think they are an improvement or not => https://www.managames.com/Forum/topic15-35484.php .
New Features :
- Controls : now the Configuration selection is separated from the Controller selection ; this allows you to easily share the same configuration between several controllers, or reassign the Controller without changing the Configuration in case the Controller index has changed (in case you have more than 1 controller) - Controls : on PC, when possible, the game automatically reassigns on launch your last selected controller if its index changed (because you have plugged in or out another controller)
Changes :
- Animation : changed the forward & backward running animations - Animation : changed the base pose of the male player, as his back was a bit bent ; this slightly changes the back orientation on all animations (the male player should hopefully look a bit less stiff)
Bug Fixes :
- Modding : it was still possible for the Mods installation to get stuck more or less forever ; it should now be ok in all cases (as long as you have enough space left on your drive, of course ːsteammockingː ) - Controller : controller auto-selection didn't work when having more than 1 player in the World Tour - Menu : with the onscreen keyboard, it was not possible to clear a text field (eg: the Rankings filtering) - Match replay : all replays could desync, and the World Tour ones were always desync'ing when recorded with the match introduction enabled
Notes :
- No gameplay change, I'm waiting for the end of the online Slam tournaments :fear:

Version 0.95 - Build 130 ; SubBuild 2024.5.22
Here's another regular update, bringing some gameplay tuning and the usual fixes. I hope you'll enjoy it. :-)
And if you have missed it, the game is finally released on Xbox since a couple of weeks : https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/tennis-elbow-4/9nfwhqkgc6p0 .
Now, I'm going to move to the Playstation port, hoping for a release around October.
New Features :
- Camera : added a slider to make the camera movements slower in 3rd person mode when the ball passes your player (ie: it's mostly for the doubles) - Modding : added an "Available space" indicator to know if you still have enough space to install additional Mods (especially useful on Xbox, where you have only 1GB for the Mods and the match recordings)
Changes :
- Players : Male hairs were too bright - Strike : slightly lowered the loss of precision when returning a slice with a 2H-BH or 1H-BH - Strike : strongly lowered the tiring handicap on heavy topspin strikes, and even more for the Defender style - Physics : slightly changed the ball size so it gets a tiny bit more air drag, more on par with current balls on the real World Tour (but it's only like 1/60th of a second longer for the ball to travel from one player to his opponent ːsteammockingː ) - Physics : the players with high running speed need now a bit more time to stop their run - Gameplay : the Bulldog has now a little bonus to more easily hit the ball on the run
Bug Fixes :
- Strike : preparing a strike for a long time was canceling the handicap to do an acceleration on a raising/falling ball, making the topspin balls less effective than wanted - AI : the CPU could walk a bit away from the ball and miss it when rushing the net - Tutorial : doing a net on the 1st serve was crashing the game - Desync : the online matches and match replays could sometimes desync on the service (I'm not sure it's fixed in 100% of the cases, though :fear: )
ManuTOO === Mana Games ===
SubBuild 2024.5.8
Bug Fixes :
- Recordings : replaying a match played with the TEM2 Mode was desync'ing non-stop if the TEM2 Mode was deactivated (and vice versa) - Menus : fixed a couple of tooltip issues when using the controller - Controls : "Menu - Open Menu" could wrongly trigger - Commentaries : no commentary was played for the Masters Semifinals
