Tips for using the staff to strike or swing

Here are some techniques for better physical motions when striking with the staff. I've also posted a video that shows how to combine striking with movement and catching for more power in attacks.

  • Time the swings to hit the rock/shot/etc when the staff is moving with maximum forward velocity towards the target. The target is the enemy that the shot came from. It's better to swing slightly early than slightly late.

  • Swinging the arm is the primary motion (like swinging a baseball bat or tennis racket)

  • Wrist motions help when combined with arm motions. Try not to rely on the wrist only, which usually results in weak shots, but combining both works well.

  • Large swings work better than short/quick strokes. The game physics favor well timed, large and fast swings rather than quick strokes.

  • Large swings work better than short ones, so step to the side or duck so the incoming shot is off to the side or overhead when striking.

Combine the techniques above with movement and catching to score maximum power on attacks. The attack damage increases with the velocity of the strike, which includes forward movements.
