Terrene: An Evidence of Life Game

The 2.5 Update is here!

Well Hello there…

I know, you could barely blink and were dropping another great update.

This time we were very focused on fixing all the smaller items we found during testing in the last build and also some smaller tweaks to balancing and cleanup. It was awesome to take some time and just play the game and now mold it into a masterpiece.

Solar Map Updates

The Solar Map menu was the last menu to get the higher resolution update. We finished this up for this build. Much larger so you can see more of the planets around you. A much needed update. We added a completed planet marker so you can easily see which planets you have completed on the solar map as well as a current planet marker that leads you back to your current planet if you scrolled away from it. We also added coordinates on the solar map.

Translucent Orb Updates

Now the Translucent Orbs will light up more area and stay lit longer. These are super useful when mining in the dark.

We are so lucky to have you reading this. Thanks for your interest and time. Here is the full list of what was done in the 2.5 update.

Features/Balancing

  • Guns now display the name “Broken” when it can no longer be repaired.
  • Updated the text when viewing a gun to display the remaining repairs instead of the number of repairs completed.

  • Increased the Health/Fuel recharge speed when a ship is in the Orbiter.
  • Increased the item drops from agro red sky enemies.

  • Fixed an issue where enemies on higher planet levels were too powerful. Rebalanced.

v2.4

Welcome Pixel Explorers!

Another giant update for our game Terrene! We have been focused on player feedback and game balance to make the game loop a little faster and more fun. Fun is the key factor for us. Here are all the amazing new things from version 2.4.

Steam Deck Support

Terrene is now compatible with the Steamdeck. Take Terrene anywhere you go now!

Cloud Saves Enabled

Cloud saves on Steam are now enabled.

Updated Map

We added a true mini-map. You can now zoom and move the map around to pinpoint an exact location. You can also place a flag marker at a desired point on the map to return to. Exploring underground will uncover the map. Using Translucent Orbs will uncover a larger area around where it is placed. Using a Far Sight or Super Far Sight consumable will uncover a large portion of the map. This is a much needed enhancement to the game and we are super pleased with it. We hope you are too!

New Orbiter Design

The orbiter is now a much larger ship and there are separated rooms for different terminals. All the same terminals with the same functionality. There are also new terminals. Overall, a much larger Orbiter is added in this update.

Orbiter Terrarium

Now, you can collect plants, rocks, labyrinth foliage and more with a new crafting item called Foliage Containers. Bring these Foliage Containers back to the Orbiter Terrarium and plant them. They will grow over a series of days and then can be harvested. Foliage can be sold for Gold. The highest amount of Gold is given for a fully grown foliage. A wonderful new additive to the game.

Rebalance to Planets

We felt that the planets took too long to complete and we wanted players to explore and travel to more planets sooner than later. We addressed this in a couple of ways.

  • We decreased the overall size of the planets so that flying to the surface and exploring a full planet takes a little less time. We didn’t decrease their size to the point where the planets seem too small. It is really fun to explore these more bite sized planets.
  • We decreased the amount of BioMatter needed to complete a planet to 500 for all planets. This feels way more manageable and a lot less of a task. More fun!
  • We decreased the ground density, allowing players to mine more efficiently in the early game. This make mining less of a chore and much more fun and engaging.
  • We removed the Red, Orange and Blue dust items dropped from mining plants, rocks and ground. Players must now craft items for health, oxygen and battery to be prepared for exploration. More engaging and fun! Players start with a few items to aid them in their initial journey.
  • We placed the Orbiter closer to the planets atmosphere to decrease the amount of time it takes to get planet side to your Orbiter. This also opened up space above the Orbiter for ship combat.
  • We added an Oxygen and Mining cost for each planet. The higher the level, the more Oxygen or Battery is used on a planet. Planets with high levels also have a chance of dropping more ores. Planets can be level 1-4 for these levels. 1 being the lowest and 4 being the highest.

Telnotian Outposts

There are now Telnotian Outpost planets you can find in the solar system. Travel to one of these planets and visit the base on the surface of the planet. There you can use Condensed BioMatter collected after completing a planets BioMatter requirements to aid in cloning efforts. There can be a Relic Deposit terminal where you can sell any special relics you have found. You can deliver terrarium sample from your Orbiter for gold.

Lore Planets

We have added planets to discover that contain a lore terminal. These terminals will provide a piece of the full story for 1 of 4 races. The Leshna, The Berartans, The Jenx & The Telnotians. Collect all the pieces of the story and read it all on the Orbiter Library. There are also ancient relics to be found on these planets that can be sold on Telnotian Outposts for gold.

Player Battery Rebalance

We felt the battery depleting was taking away from the fun so we wanted it to hinder players much less. Now the player has a lot more battery at the start of the game and it lasts much longer before needing to be refilled. Exploring and mining is much less restricted by battery now.

Solar Map Enhancements

We have updated the Solar Map to give more useful planet information. The size of a planet is no longer displayed in a number that made little sense and is now displayed like “Average” or “Large, etc. There are also different types of planets now. Planetoid, Giant Planet and Moon are some of them. We also added the Oxygen and Mining levels to the description. A step needed for future planet updates.

Orbiter Terminal UI Update

We have finally upgraded the Orbiter terminal menus to be in a high resolution. Now we can fit much more information and items per page. A much needed overhaul.

Super Gems and Super Items

There is now a Super Gem terminal on the Orbiter. Use 500 coal to creat a Super Gem. These Super Gems can be used to craft Super items such as Super TNT, Super RoboDiggers and much more!

Trash Compactor Enhancement

You can now choose to compact trash into Diamonds or Gold. Just choose which type you want and insert the trash for that type.

Additional Updates/Fixes

  • Increased the price of items in the stores (mining Diamonds is easier and faster now)
  • Decreased the amount of AA guns in the sky.
  • Fixed an issue where Broken Labyrinths and Slime were spawning in mid-air on the planet surface.
  • Updated some mini-boss missions to require more mini-boss kills for more reward.
  • Added small space snakes to space.
  • Added a new lore intro when starting a new game.
  • Updated the player and ship healthbars to include the amount in numeric format as well as number icons to show the player that it is increasing or decreasing.
  • Asteroids now drop trash and coal. Harvest these and create diamonds and gold on the trash compactor.
  • Updated ship art.
  • Your ship slowly repairs and refuels itself when docked on the orbiter.
  • Your player regenerates battery when in the ship.
  • Added a Ship Beacon itme that brings the ship to the player when used.
  • Updated pistol chips to allow stacking them in you inventory stacking their power up effect.
  • Added chips that can be stacked in you inventory that give you upgraded health, battery or oxygen. Stacking chips will multiply the effect.
  • Missions now have an image when talking with Ed and being viewed in the missions menu.
  • Moved notification text to top center and added a list view so that no notification is missed.
  • Added additional notifications for new shop items.
  • Updated mite eggs art.
  • Added a new useable digging machine called Worm Digger.
  • Guns now lose durability with each repair. Once durability is gone the gun can no longer be used.
  • Resolved an issue where the lazer gun was always equiped when you loaded a save or changed planets.
  • Update the main menu to auto-detect keyboard/mouse or controller depending upon what is being used.

2.2 - Crafting, Lighting and more...

Here we are again with another awesome update to Terrene!

We added some more cool new features! Here is a breakdown of all that has changed in Terrene v2.2:

Crafting ---------------------

We have now added crafting to the game. All the useful consumables and secondary weapons can now crafted. Combine 2 items to create a single crafted item. Try different combinations to create different items. Find crafting items in different things like plants, rocks, ores and more.

Lighting Update ---------------------

We have changed the way that lighting is handled underground. Now you only see what is around you and can see down the cave systems when there is a line of sight on it. It is a more standard type of lighting and was something we wanted for years now. It took a bit of optimization to get it all working, but we are happy with the results.

Translucent Orbs ---------------------

Now that lighting has changed, we wanted a way for the player to craft a light source that can be used as a secondary weapon. Toss one of these down for a pulsating light source to help spot ores to mine.

CyberPet Equipment ---------------------

Now you can assign random guns and secondary items to your CyberPet. This allows for a more fun time when playing co-op and also adds to single player as your CyberPet will follow you down to the planets.

Enemy Swarms ---------------------

We found that having the enemy swarms tied to mining the ores caused for the alarm going off all the time. It was annoying. We have now adjusted the swarms to be randomly timed and also to be randomly difficult. Mining a Dylixia Crystal still pisses them off though - lol

Additional Smaller Changes ---------------------

  • Red and Orange dust mined from plants and rocks now do less (player to use consumables instead).
  • Ship fuel consumption now increased per Planet Level. Done is an attempt to require the player to upgrade their ship.
  • Repair Kits are now used automatically if your player has one in it's inventory.
  • Added random items for sale in the Matter Forge on the Orbiter.
  • Removed the Weapons Forge and combined it with the Matter Forge.

as always, thanks for playing!!!

v2.1 -- Controls and more...

Hello and good day,

Great to have you here checking out our new update. Lots of cool mechanics added to the game.

Here are the key feature that were added/updated:

Custom Key Bindings
Now you can set almost any key in the game to a custom key binding. This is possible on Keyboard/Mouse and Controller. Customize away!

Grab and Drop Inventory
Now you can pickup stacks in the inventory menu. You can rearrange and organize your inventory as you see fit. You can even grab a stack, switch to the ship inventory and drop it into the ship. An overall needed feature set for the inventory system.

Increase Player Inventory Slots to 48
We have added more inventory spaces to the play inventory. Now you can collect even more good stuff before you need to return to your ship.

Player/Ship HUB Update
We decided to ditch the large sized HUD and replace it with a sleek HUD that is close to the player and can be visible without taking your eyes off the player. We also update this for the ship. Much cleaner.

Quick Slots
Now this one is rad! You can now assign up to 4 player inventory slots to be a Quick Slots that allow easy access to any item in your inventory. This feature makes it much easier to quickly access different weapons, items and powerup at the press of a button. Game changer.

Additional Items

  • Rearranged the UI elements on screen. Armour and current weapon is now displayed in the top left. Controls are now in the bottom left. This is much cleaner.
  • Update the game Logo
  • Added Controls Menu to the Main Menu
  • Fixed an audio issue where the robodiggers sound would duplicate and become very loud if multiple units were placed at the same time.
  • Updated text so that the word "Mission" is used in all areas of the game.

Again, thank you for your interest and support for our game Terrene. It means the world to us that you read these and that you play the game. Have a wonderful day.

Life is Short = Eat Cake

Terrene 2.0 is finally here!

It is finally here! We have been working for over a year on tons of new features and content. This is the biggest update yet. We are so hyped to bring you the following new features.

**This update is massive and will require a new save file.

Now you can access a solar system map from the orbiter. Traveling to a different planet uses Dylixia crystals. The further away the plant is from you, the more Dylixia it will require to travel. Now travel to and from planets easily. Completing a planet only requires you to collect Bio Matter and hand deliver it to the Orbiter. There are more than a billion different randomized planet in the game. The further you get from the starting planet, the more difficult the world become.

We loved Terrene 1.2, but wanted it to be a bit more randomized. We have completely updated the planet generation. Now you can find pockets of dirt, stone and hard stone anywhere. It is not tied to depth now. This allowed us to make planet differ even more. We reworked the cave generation too and now have added more open arears and cave to explore. Additional POIs and areas can be discovered.

Terrene now has a true mission system. Grab a mission from RoboDork in the Orbiter and set out onto the planet. There are many different mission types that include killing a certain enemy or collect a certain item. Assign an active mission for it to appear in your hud. Return to RoboDork to complete your mission for a reward.

We have completely redone the inventory. Now you can collect items, use items, transfer items to your ship and drop items. This also means that when you die, all your inventory will drop as separate items. You must return to your items in 10 minutes or they will despawn. You can easily use consumables and buffs making gameplay much more interactive. The game really needed a true inventory system, and now it has one.

We have implemented randomized guns into Terrene. Now, find random guns around the world. Each gun has a randomized stats system for bullet distance, bullet bounce, bullet speed, bullet amount and bullet type. So many combinations. So many guns. The gun will appear on the player now and aim with the mouse/controller. Each gun will look and act differently. Guns have a condition now so you will need to collect repair kits to repair your favorites. Ammo has been updated to clips. One type of ammo for all player guns. The pistol can be upgraded by finding chips and having them consume one inventory slot. Upgrade firing speed, bullet amount and more with pistol chips. These feature adds an amazing amount of diversity to game play.

Now that Terrene has a proper inventory system, we have added multiple different consumables and buffs that the player can find and carry. Overstock can be stored in the ship inventory. Consumables will allow the player to instantly heal, instantly fill oxygen and more. Buffs are timed and give the player a special ability like no battery usage or faster firing rate. The rest you can find and discover on your own.

A new, strange and unusual world has been added to the game. Discover the Glitch World and make your way to a new boss battle. Complete with new music tracks.

Labyrinths are no longer found on each planet, but when you do find one, there will be many different art styles to them. Different foliage and ruble is also added to the labyrinths. There is now a new mini-boss in the Labyrinths.
This should help create more unique experience on different planets.

The orbiter comes equipped with a heavy duty, state of the art, trash compactor. You will find trash laying about the planets you explore. Compact that trash in to diamonds so you can buy that next amazing upgrade.

There are many other things we have added to this build. Please see the full list of features below...
