Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends Development Update, October 2022:

Development Continues!



With Dracula now released, our focus has shifted to hot fixes, bug fixes, and balancing. But there is plenty more going on in the background. Let's take a look!



Coding



User Interface changes


Our coders, Brad and Matt, have been working towards updating the menu user interface for the game. We plan to provide a more sleek design and an improved visual presentation within the menus.

Epic Online Services


A lot of work has gone into the inclusion of Crossplay capabilities with Epic Online Services as we plan to put Terrordrome on the Epic Store. We still have plenty of details to work out on this end, so stay tuned.

GGPO Rollback Netcode


As always, the team is progressing with integration of Rollback Netcode. This is an important part of development to improve the current net play and provide a seamless online experience for multiplayer. Some advancements have been made, but it is a task still in development, so keep an eye out for more news in the future.

Animations





Wendigo


Since Dracula's release, we have been gearing up to release the Wendigo hopefully by the coming Winter season. Preferably before the end of 2022. For the time being, the Wendigo is still within the animation phase. However, his animations are coming along well and production of the animations have boosted.

Our lead animator, Marc, has completed many of the Wendigo's attack animations, including normal attacks and specials. Our junior animator, SkullRabbit, has completed basic reactions for Wendigo, including being hit, blocking, and knockdowns.

We do plan to begin the process of integrating the Wendigo to the game this month, expect to hear more next month

Other Animations


The TerrorTeam has considered the possibility of additional character animations, such as taunts and other miscellaneous features. These have only entered a brainstorming stage and are not in full development. This is primarily due to the other more taxing and important animations to complete first.

Other News



Stages


Development on new stages has begun with the primary focus being on the Wendigo's stage first before focusing on existing character stages. We feel it is important for a character's identity to have their own stage, so it is important for Wendigo to launch with his stage ready. The Wendigo's home is planned to be a winter themed forest, ruined and wretched. Something to fit in with the evil coldness this creature is known for. Work on this stage has begun.

Frankenstein and the White Lady’s stages will also be developed after Wendigo's stage is ready, however we do not have an estimated time for when these can be complete. They are still early in conceptualizing.

Spring Heeled Jack


Spring Heeled Jack's model has been completed and is ready for rigging. The Invisible Man's model is still in development so we have made the decision to begin work on Spring Heeled Jack after the Wendigo's completion.

HotFix4 for Update 17.

New Hotfix for the game here is the fixes within this update.



  1. Reduced the hit stun on The White Lady's Jump Strong and reduced the damage.

  2. The White Lady can no longer jump cancel or air dash from a Jump Strong, this removes an unintended loop.

  3. Fixed an issue not allowing Dracula to perform his helper move again if this move is blocked.

  4. Combo breaks now hit opponents doing moves that are within invincibility frames.

  5. Potential fix to an issue not allowing Frankenstein to execute his Close Unleashed.

  6. Fixed an issue not allowing T.H.I.S to follow up after using EX Crawl in the corner.



HotFix3 for Update 17.

New Hotfix for the game here is the fixes within this update.



  1. Most issues with character Death Sentences should now be fixed, Mainly the issue of Death Sentence not getting announced. This applies to main aspects to these moves so if a previous one wasn't working currently before it should be now.

  2. Sasquatch can no longer use Beasty Slam vs. an aerial opponent.

  3. Added more recovery to the third hit of Van Helsing's Punch Kick Medium Strong combo string. This fixes an unintended loop.

  4. Added more recovery to Bloody Mary's Punch Punch Kick Medium Strong combo string, this applies to the medium of this string. This fixes an unintended loop.

  5. Dracula now has proper reaction animation for Grab Escapes, all other characters have been checked for missing animations as well.

  6. Fixed the Camera position for Bloody Mary's Front Grab.



Sasquatch's Stage Track

Michal Ratkowski’s newest track has risen.
Eerie Forest like the name suggests is the track played for the forest stage, (Sasquatch’s stage).

HotFix2 for Update 17.

New Hotfix for the game here is the fixes within this update.



  1. Dracula's Death Sentences now show the proper announcement.

  2. Fixed an issue causing the Red filter effect to continue after a successful Death Sentence when switching screens.

  3. Potential fix to game freeze or hang when exiting the game.

  4. Alex Van Helsing's Green Sun when used as a Death Sentence now properly triggers the finishing animation.



T.H.I.S's stage track!

With the recent update we added 2 new stages and with that two new music tracks created by Michal Ratkowski, today we’re releasing his track made for T.H.I.S’s stage Coulrophobia.
Please feast your ears upon it.

HotFix1 for Update 17.

Hotfixes have been made to the game here is the fixes.



  1. Dracula's helper attack now works properly vs. Helsing and other small body characters.

  2. Helsing can no longer dodge roll while knocked on the ground near the stage corners.

  3. Player alerts now work after rematching while in a online match.



Dracula Enters The Terrordrome!! -- Terrordrome - ROTL Update 17

The big bad is here Dracula has stepped in to the Terrordrome, he is now selectable on the character selection screen, two new stages are now selectable , this update also includes some major changes to gameplay along with other fixes/changes.



    New Content

  1. New Character Added : Dracula has been added to the playable roster, here is his bio :

    Also known as “the son of the dragon” Dracula is the leader of a secret and powerful family of vampires. They sit at the head of a shadowy empire and act as the world’s ruling class. They rule and manipulate governments and media outlets throughout their many corporations and secret network to serve their evil agenda: dumb down the masses and feed off of their energy and fears. They promote fear and finance war everywhere on Earth through mass hypnosis. The top executives of this are vampires while their minions are mind controlled humans. Needless to say you don’t get to the top without making a few enemies in the process.



  2. New Stage Added: Abandon Amusement Park has been added to the game as a selectable stage.

  3. New Stage Added: Hidden Forest has been added to the game as a selectable stage.

  4. New Color 4 Added for Mr. Hyde: Color 4 on Skin 2 for Mr. Hyde shows him in default colors





    General Changes/Fixes

  1. Fixed an issue on start up that would produce an error message that would say an Overlay dll is missing.

  2. Optimizations have been made to all graphics options this should allow for a boost in FPS on most systems.

  3. There is no longer a long load time before getting to the main menu.

  4. Updates to the input system have been made this may fix a potential issue not allowing certain moves to execute properly.

  5. Adjustments have been made to lighting for stages and characters.

  6. New option added to Training Mode within opponent options to fight the AI within this mode.

  7. Changes to the button icons within Training Mode to have more readability.

  8. Sasquatch face animations have been improved. Sasquatch Close Unleashed and Death Sentences have new camera animations.



Gameplay System Changes





  1. A new meter has been added to the game, this meter is used to break out of your opponents combos with the new combo break. This meter fills passively, little when being hit, and a lot more when dodging attacks. Matches start with the meter being full.

  2. Air Recovery and Ground Recovery have been changed to a standard Combo break resetting characters to neutral. You can use this move on the first hit of an opponents combo, this move is disabled when hit during recovery frames of the attack you previously did, also known as a punish.

  3. Changes to the in game GUI, new break gauge is at the top near the timer, while the Unleashed and helper icons are at the bottom.

  4. Ground Recovery is now used as a Counter to Combo Break this can be triggered by using the Dodge button at the end of most combo string hits. If you predict correctly you can continue your combo, But if you fail this leaves you in a punishable situation.

  5. Most reactions on combo strings have been changed to allowed for better contact with the opponent.

  6. Certain moves now have more hit stop to male these moves feel more impactful. This also allows better cancel timing for certain moves.



Character Gameplay Changes



Frankenstein



  1. His Standing Strong no longer knocks the opponent down instead it now does a stagger back. This move also no longer hits knocked down opponents.

  2. Both his Normal and EX version of Charged Shoulder now starts 4 frames faster. This gives him a better tool for getting in on the opponent, you can still cancel from this running change to the following moves : Aftershock, Hammer Swing, EX versions of these moves and also Close Unleashed.

  3. The start of the normal Aftershock no longer hits a grounded opponent, this is still possible with the EX version.



Sasquatch



  1. Sasquatch can once again cancel to his EX stomp from the second hit of his P M P combo string.



Alex Van Helsing



  1. When using EX Kangaroo Kick (bomb version) the bomb is now blockable. This was previously unblockable.

  2. You can now cancel from Shotgun to Far Unleashed (Green Sun) by buffering the input.



Neverman



  1. You can now cancel Crouch Strong in to this EX Teleport for a more stylish follow up within combos.

  2. Within the normal version of Suitcase Spikes you can buffer cancel to his Far Unleashed (void blast).




Bloody Mary



  1. Mary now returns to the other side of the opponent faster within her normal ground teleport, this will allow more time to follow up within a combo.

  2. The clone within Mary's EX Teleport spawns closer to the opponent allowing for easier follow up within combos.

  3. Mirror Reflect can be buffer canceled to Far Unleashed (shard blast)

  4. Mary can now properly cancel her Air kick to air teleport.





T .H .I. S



  1. Using Balloon Hatch after M M string is now a true combo extension, a dash cancel is no longer required.

  2. THIS can now buffer cancel from Spitting Ball to his Far Unleashed (Acid Shower), this allows for a nice OTG follow up.



Mr. Hyde



  1. Fixed an issue within the animation timings of his command grab.

  2. Stand strong now causes a stagger back instead of a knockdown, there is a small window to follow up with another attack. This gives him a stand overhead combo starter.

  3. Hyde can now cancel directly to his Headbutt when preforming his Taunt Walk and the EX version. This move no longer knocks the opponent down and now hits overhead. The EX version can be canceled to Punch or Med for a new combo starter.



The White Lady



  1. Medium attack travel distance reduced, this fixes an issue of her switching sides when juggling with M M S S string.

  2. EX Dive is now an overhead, this must be blocked standing.









Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends Development Update, September 2022:

Where are we now?



So first things first, where's the next update?
Unfortunately, it has taken the team more time than expected to finish up the latest update. Dracula is ready, along with the 2 new stages, music tracks, and gameplay mechanics.

We have had some setbacks in regards to implementing these features into the latest build, primarily due to waiting for commissioned music for the stages and finalizing sounds and bug fixes for Dracula.

So to put it simply, the next update is right around the corner and we are excited to have it ready for you very soon.

WHAT'S NEW?



While we finish integrating the new features into our next build, what has been happening in the background? Here's a quick rundown:

CODING


New menu designs are in development and will be integrated in later updates. These have only just begun.

Our coders Brad and Matt have also been working towards integrating GGPO Rollback net code. There is not a lot to share in regards to this at the moment. Stay tuned.

NEW STAGES


The Hidden Forest and Abandoned Park stages are finalized and ready. The stages will be a part of the next update and are home to Sasquatch and T.H.I.S The Clown. The music for both of these stages have been added to these stages as well.

ANIMATION


With Dracula’s animations complete, it is time to begin work on our next character, the Wendigo. Our lead animator, Marc, will begin working on the Wendigo's animations this month.
In addition, our team member SkullRabbit will also assist in the animation process to speed up the development of this character. This gives Marc more time to focus on other aspects of animation, design future assets such as stages, and writing.

With that, here is a preview of the Wendigo's idle stance animation!



SPRING HEELED JACK MODEL


Behold! Spring Heeled Jack's model has been created and is ready for rigging. Here is a preview of what is to come!



OTHER NEWS



Dracula's trailer has been completed and will be ready to launch upon release of the next update. We greatly appreciate your support and hope you can forgive us for the delays. We truly think it will be worth the wait.
