As we are participating in Gamescom Latam in Brazil this year, we thought that's a perfect opportunity to tease another episode of the Expedition Logs!
Check out new episode on YouTube titled: "You probably won’t make it…"
Resources, scanning the surface and extraction
Expanding and running a mobile base in The Alters will not be possible without extracting the planet's rich resources. Metals, minerals, organics, and - most importantly - Rapidium, are vital materials you will encounter while scanning the planet’s surface. Yet finding them will be a tricky task, as you will often find their surroundings riddled with dangers.
Anomalies
Anomalies are lethal obstacles that pose various threats to our protagonist. They vary both in terms of looks and risks exposure to them entails. Some of them can be seen from afar while others will require an anomaly detector or a special tool to unveil. Anomalies can pose a serious danger to the mission as they can kill our Jan Dolski through radiation, as well as distort time and space around him. Luckily, we’re not helpless against them, as in time we’ll be able to create tools to counter their threat.
Biomes and collectibles
Multiplying types and threats of anomalies was one of the key features we worked very hard to improve during the last few months of The Alters’ development. The other one was the planet’s exploration, as we want to make biomes present in the game as interesting and filled with secrets as possible.
Stay tuned for another episodes of expedition logs!

The Alters - Expedition Log 3
While playing The Alters, you will quickly discover that time management is one of the game’s crucial challenges. You will be gathering resources, developing your base, and dealing with unexpected problems while trying to outrun a deadly scorching sunrise.
The gameplay is divided into specific day and night cycles with radiation levels being too high to operate outside during a large portion of time. What adds even more urgency to the entire situation, our main protagonist and his alters only have a limited amount of energy they can allocate to work before they need to rest.
This means you have to carefully plan the actions for each day on the planet’s surface and onboard the base. Of course, life will probably write its own story, as you will most assuredly face many obstacles along the way, as well as be required to diffuse tensions between your alters on the spot. Will you be up for the challenge?
There are still things we want to show you about The Alters so see you in the next episode of The Alters - Expedition Logs.
The Alters Release Date Revealed
What if survival means facing the versions of yourself you never became? What if you chose family over going to college? What if your girlfriend from high school became your wife, and what if you actually lost her?
Revealed today as part of the 2025 Triple-I Initiative, we announced that The Alters will launch on June 13, 2025!
Stranded on a hostile planet and racing against a deadly sunrise, Jan Dolski’s only chance of survival is to create “alters” - alternate versions of himself shaped by decisions he didn’t take. Each Jan is a separate personality - with unique skills, habits, and memories tied to their different life choices. But they also come with flaws, doubts, and emotional baggage.
Your success means managing yourself, literally. You must maintain a mobile base, make time-critical decisions, build relationships with your alters, and confront the consequences of their own past lives. Sounds easy, right…?
A new mechanic revealed in the trailer - which wasn’t shown before, introduces various deadly anomalies! Mysterious phenomena which will stand in your way during planet exploration - we’re talking levitating rocks, eerie distortions, heightened radioactivity, and other threats which sometimes won’t be visible for you without special tools.
!! BE CAREFUL !!
In every case, without cautious approach, you risk instant death, radiation-induced injuries, or even disintegration of time and space itself. And, if that wasn’t enough already, the heightened radioactivity can melt your suit. These dangers add yet another layer to the survival experience, turning every expedition into a high-stakes puzzle.
Witness it by yourselves on June 13.

The Alters - Expedition Log 2
The second episode of our Expedition Logs series is out! This time we will take a closer look at the relationships between Alters. Managing different versions of yourself comes with its challenges. How do you keep them all working together without things falling apart?
Dealing with the titular Alters is one of the crucial aspects of the game. The question is, how do you keep everyone onboard your base happy... and not lose your head in the process?
As the game progresses, new Alters will join you on board. They provide the necessary skills to tackle your mission’s challenges, but as human beings, they succumb to stress, weariness, and other perils.
Alters are different versions of Jan and therefore have individual, sometimes mutually exclusive needs. For example, you may have to choose between building a module to improve the well-being of your crew or… simply investing in infrastructure that will push the mission forward. Ultimately, no matter what you choose, satisfying everyone will not be possible. This means that balancing between the needs of your Alters and advancing the mission will be the key to survival.
We’ll explore the dynamics, decisions, and consequences that shape your future journey.

The Alters - Expedition Log 1
Check out brand new series documenting the journey behind The Alters, and get to know the upcoming game from a new perspective.
With the Expedition Logs we want to show you the game's mechanics, design, and the challenges that make it a truly personal and one-of-a-kind experience!
The first Expedition log explores the foundations of The Alters - how it starts as a survival game and transforms into something much more. We'll take the pressure of time, limited resources, and tough decisions, all that while managing your own alternative selves.
Prepare for the upcoming challenges! The expedition is just the beginning.
If you played our other games, The Alters is a must-try
In 2014 we released This War of Mine, a game that reshaped how we experience storytelling in video games. It offered a haunting perspective on the horrors of war, forcing players to make impossible choices to survive.
Now, with The Alters, we’re taking you on a new, deeply personal survival journey – one that shares familiar themes but unfolds in an entirely different setting.
How do these two games compare?
In This War of Mine, you guided a group of civilians struggling to stay alive in a besieged city. Their survival depended on resource management, tough moral decisions, and the ability to hold together in a world that had fallen apart.
In The Alters, you begin your journey alone stranded as the sole survivor of a space expedition gone wrong. To stay alive, you must create a new crew, but not in the way you might expect. Your only option is to create alternate versions of yourself – alters – each shaped by different life choices and each bringing unique skills to aid your mission.
Yet, survival isn’t just about skill sets. In This War of Mine, managing your shelter is critical. This time, your home is a mobile base traversing a hostile alien planet, shielding you from its unforgiving environment. Expanding and optimizing this base will be essential, but doing so with multiple versions of yourself, all carrying their own perspectives and baggage, is bound to create tensions you never saw coming.
Venturing outside is just as crucial. In This War of Mine, scavenging for resources under the cover of darkness was a necessity. In The Alters, you must leave the safety of your base to extract vital resources. Yet this time, the threats do not come from enemy soldiers. The planet itself is a relentless adversary, with a scorching, radioactive sun creeping ever closer. Time is constantly working against you and every moment matters.
Both games demand that you make tough choices. Choices that weigh survival against the needs of those around you. In The Alters, however, those people are all different versions of you. What happens when your greatest challenge isn’t just the world outside but the variations of yourself cramped in one base?
What if The Alters Could Play The Alters? | Official Trailer
Hello Jans,
Ever wondered what it would be like if all the Jans sat down together for a gaming session playing The Alters? Find out in the latest trailer 👀
As you can see, working with these different Jans is anything but straightforward. They are not just copies. Some took different paths and look upon Jan’s choices with pity. Others succeeded where he failed, living lives he never had the chance to—and now, maybe, they don’t even believe he has the guts to be a leader. But none of that matters when survival is at stake. Like it or not, they must find a way to work together—one way or another.
First and foremost, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for your persistent enthusiasm and unwavering dedication to Project Dolly—as reflected in the multitude of messages you have diligently sent to our offices in recent months. Your keen interest in the mission timeline has not gone unnoticed.
Following a comprehensive assessment of Project Dolly, we regret to inform you that your scheduled departure has been delayed beyond Q1 2025, with a revised launch window set for later in the year.
While we recognize that this may not be the update you were hoping for, this additional time is being dedicated to further refining mission parameters and ensuring that all essential systems meet Ally Corp’s uncompromising standards. Furthermore, it is also allowing us to integrate new enhancements into Project Dolly, ensuring that your eventual deployment is more exciting and rewarding than originally projected.
As you know, “almost ready” is not part of Ally Corp’s vocabulary. This additional time will allow us to ensure that every aspect of Project Dolly operates at peak efficiency, leading to an outcome that benefits both the organization and, of course, yourself.
Your commitment to Project Dolly does not go unnoticed, and we look forward to providing you with a confirmed departure date in due course.
