The Backroom: Lost and Found

Update 1.0.8

Time for some "boring stuff":

  • Settings have new options for FoV, Head bobbing, and VSync.
  • Various small UI improvements.
  • Small tweaks here and there.
  • Thunder!

Update 1.0.7

With the help of the fans, I've been able to address some additional pain points and hopefully make the journeys even more fluent. None of these make the game easier - just more understandable and rewarding.

  • The Room has a new way of communication.
  • Minor level layout changes.
  • One more Secret Ending.
  • Small dialog & ending improvements.

Update 1.0.61

Minor fix to people who are playing the game with over 200FPS. The whole phase shift was accidentally left synced to 60FPS. If your computer ran 30FPS, the shift took half the time, and at 240FPS the phase shift took 4x the time it should've taken, meaning became super confusing.

Phase shift now takes the same time, regardless of your frame rate. Rookie mistake. Ashamed, I am.

Update 1.0.6 - Your friendly guide has arrived!

Seeing how much struggles the confusing corridors cause, there is now an option in the pause menu to toggle "GUIDING HOOVES" visible or hidden.

This will make small hoof imprints visible across the levels that will guide you past some of the worst problems. They will not always show you the best way to get from point A to point B, but they will, in most cases, show a way.

Hooves are toggled hidden by default and they do not affect achievements. Personally I like them since they also tell an additional bits of the story as you can see where the have traveled and what they have done.

Hope this will alleviate some of the problems and make your journeys feel less like banging your head against a wall!

Best travels,
Team Pony

1.0.5 Update

And the updates keep on coming! This time the only change is the addition of auto settings -detection at the beginning of the game and a simple button to scroll through game quality settings in the pause menu. Hopefully this will resolve some of the performance issues!

1.0.4 Update

Did you like the footstep -sounds? I absolutely hated them! Luckily they are no longer on the ToDo -list as, thanks to the push from the keen-eared players, they've been completely reworked!

Changes in 1.0.4:

  • All surfaces have now proper foot step sounds. Both and sides have their own sounds.
  • A hint pop-up appears if you've returned the , but haven't moved the .
  • Collectible paintings on the walls now have frames, making them easier to spot.

1.0.3 Update

While there doesn't seem to be too many bugs to squish, there are lots of ways to make the game more enjoyable. Here's the list of latest tweaks:

  • Collectibles are simpler to find & see
  • Some barren corridors now have stuff littering them, making them easier to navigate
  • Prevented backtracking when it served no purpose
  • Punched a hole in the wall to make life a bit easier
  • Paintings and Almond Water have higher value, while have lower.
  • Day/Night cycle fixed
  • Minor changes to various texts

1.0.1 Update notes

Who could have foreseen that there were minor bugs and some other 'flaws' in the release version of a game?!

List of tweaks and fixes:

  • No more completing the game by looking at a random wall.
  • Mouse sensitivity controls added to pause menu.
  • Player guiding improved in various places.

Game Released!

The fun little game that was supposed to take 2 weeks to make, took only 6 months in the end. Goes to show that scheduling and goals are good -- but then again, this game wouldn't be what it is without the crazy passion for games that we all here at the Lollin' Pony have.

Enjoy the game and remember; if you appreciate it, don't hesitate to drop some money to SaveTheManagee.org.

Wishing the best of adventures,
Team Pony
