From the other world, the creator Andres Borghi continues working on The Black Heart and we wanted to give you a quick update:
We’re aiming to release the final version of the game during next month (October). We still don’t have an exact date, but we’ll try to get close to Halloween 🎃
On another subject, we recently incorporated the participation of the great David Levill (Hellbound, Doorways). Supervised by Andres, David is currently doing a full remaster of all the soundtrack from the game. So get ready because IT’S GONNA SOUND EXPLOSIVE 🔈

Rolling back build + Gallery incoming 🎞️

We wanted to let you know that we had to roll back the update we did last week.
The thing is that to incorporate Linux support, we had to first update the game to the latest version of the engine. This brought some issues to the game, including the crash reported on the forum when winning a Survival Mode match.
So unfortunately, the Linux version will not be possible until further notice 👎
We take this opportunity to tell you that we are getting closer to the final version of the game. Andrés continues working on the last chapter and we will have news on that very soon...
And not only that, a new gallery system for the cinematics is also in the making:

Beings from the darkness! How are you? 💀
We keep working on improvements and new content for The Black Heart, and this week we have expanded the compatibility of the game to Linux!
If you’re playing the game on these platform, please let us know how it goes: If it starts correctly, if it has any trouble in graphics or audio, Etc. We’re using virtual machines and even devices from friends and family remotely, so it gets pretty tough for us to test it. Use the discussion section on Steam 👍
On the other hand, the guys from Realms Deep allowed us to participate in their event, which has just started on Steam. So check it out! There’s a bunch of amazing retro-style indie games (most of them FPS), and they’re on sale!
The Black Heart is also currently at 30% of discount. Don’t miss the opportunity for you or a friend!

Create your own palettes for The Black Heart! 👚🎽👕🩱🥻👘
Beings from the other world! How’s it doing there?
With the creator Andres Borghi, we have something special for you…
We’re going to include new palettes (color variations) for the characters of the game, which will be unlocked during the progress you made in the chapters of the Story Mode.
And we had the crazy idea of letting you guys to create your own versions for this 🤯
We created some Photoshop files (PSD) where the different parts of each character are separated in layers, but you will also find the originals as PNG to edit them directly. Find everything in THIS LINK RIGHT HERE!
Once you finish editing, simply save the image as PNG or JPG, and then send it to us to the email below: palettes@theblackheart.com.ar
If we select your palette for the game your name will appear in the “special thanks” section in the credits of the game; so in your email include your name, nickname or whichever name you would like to be credited as.
You can also share us the image on Twitter tagging as @TheBlackHeartVg and using the hashtag #ThePaletteChallenge so we can see it directly and retweet it 🐦
You can create as many palettes you like to and for as many characters you desire. From all the images we get, we’re going to analyze them and see which will be included to The Black Heart, based on the most interesting, original but also which ones fit the best with the game 👌
But try not to repeat any of the 6 palettes that are already available for each character in the game! We also added some images of those in the folders, just in case.
The deadline for the proposals is July 15 (Thursday). There’s not much time, so let’s do it!

Chapter 5: The daughter of the prince (Ananzi) 🕷️
Beings from the other world! How are you today?!
The build update 1.3-EA4 for The Black Heart is finally ready. It includes the awaited chapter 5 of the Story Mode, starting the beautiful and ruthless Ananzi 🕸️
This update took more than expected because we have been trying to add a new feature and we still haven’t been able to make it. Hope we have some news about that in the future.
But besides the chapter 5 of the Story Mode, this new update also includes: characters palette selection, joystick thumbsticks implemented for movements, and a bunch of other fixes and improvements (see the entire list on the bottom 👇 ).

With the creator Andres Borghi we’re getting closer to finishing the development of The Black Heart. Soon enough we’ll have a final and definitive version to release the game outside of Early Access...

Full list of chances and improvements from new version 1.3-EA3:
Fifth chapter of the Story Mode added (ANANZI).
Menus are navigated with friendlier and well defined keys.
Support for controller analog sticks added.
New system to choose the color of the fighter.
Only 2 difficulty levels like in the classic version: Normal and hard.
The fatal move sign doesn't flash anymore.
Fatal moves now have a more dramatic sound design.
Elements were added to the background of the stage "The Desert".
Noroko's and Ananzi's killer modes were modified to be more aggressive.
Bug fixed in Shar-makai's supermove "Procreation".
Hashi´s supermove "Super Fruti-toss" was improved.
Ananzi's "Black trap" with Punch 2 now lasts longer.
Ananzi's "Black trap" and "Super black trap" now hit falling enemies in juggle.
Tag Mode was removed due to various internal engine problems.
The Escape key in the main menu now selects the exit option, instead of abruptly closing the game.
In options you can set how much life you gain after each survival match.
Removed the possibility of changing characters after losing and continuing during Story Mode.

Creatures from the underworld! How are you? It’s been a while...
We haven’t tell you much news lately about The Black Heart and that’s because we’ve been (and still are) super busy working on THE BIGGEST UPDATE TO DATE 🤯
Besides the so long awaited chapter 5 of the Story Mode (starring the beautiful Ananzi), we’re doing all kinds of improvements, fixes and even adding new features to the game. But we won't tell you anything about that yet, you will discover it soon enough...
We’ll try to have the update ready during what is left in this month of May. If we can’t make it for next week, it will be for the other without excuses 👍
In the next days we’re going to adjust the price of the Early Access, since all the new features coming in this next update have required some additional programming outsourcing 💸
So if you didn’t get the game yet on Steam, do it now before the price increases!
The final game of The Black Heart is coming together super well... Together with Andrés we are very happy with the results coming in this new update, and hope you guys like it as much as we do 🤓
