The first episode has already seduced players and journalists alike with a deep and captivating story celebrated for its intricate characters and smart writing. The innovative narrative-driven gameplay takes the genre beyond its boundaries and allows for meaningful choices with impactful consequences.



Episode 2: Hide and Seek continues the story of Louis de Richet as he deals with the dramatic results of his actions in the first episode, released to press and player acclaim earlier this year. He must continue his investigation into the disappearance of his mother while dealing with a newly-arrived Spanish head of state and the quickly-forming factions on Lord Mortimer’s island.

In today’s launch trailer, get a first look at the dramatic accusations levied at Louis as he deals with the consequences of his actions. Some players will have to prove their innocence, while others will be the lead investigator into the crime itself – still others may have no murder to deal with at all. This is just one of the massive, diverging plots that players can look forward to throughout The Council’s coming episodes, which will develop further during Episode 2: Hide and Seek.



Hide and Seek releases May 17 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4. Complete Season owners on Steam and consoles, and Season Pass owners on consoles can play Episode 2 now with a two-day head start, as well as future access to all upcoming episodes. Note that Episode 1: The Mad Ones, is required to play Episode 2.

The Council Episode 2: Hide and Seek, is available today for Season Pass and Complete Season owners on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and Complete Season owners on PC. It officially releases on May 17. The complete season will include a total of five episodes, with new episodes releasing regularly in 2018.

Episode two of The Council, a narrative adventure game that redefines the genre with RPG mechanics and consequences for every choice, will release on May 15th. Hide and Seek continues the story of Louis de Richet as he deals with the dramatic results of his actions in episode one, released to press and player acclaim earlier this year.

He must continue his investigation into the disappearance of his mother, Sarah, while dealing with the newly-arrived Spanish head of state, the finally-revealed Lord Mortimer, and the quickly-forming factions on the island.

In the first screenshots for episode two, get a glimpse of brand new areas of the mansion to explore, along with new characters who bring dire news and shocking revelations to the island. In The Council – Episode 1: the Mad Ones, you begin your journey with Louis de Richet on Lord Mortimer’s private island and try to discover your mother’s fate – before it’s too late. Joining you are a number of high profile guests, including Napoleon Bonaparte and President of the newly-formed United States of America, George Washington.

The strange nature of this private reception goes beyond just the prestigious guests –Richet’s own mother has recently gone missing on the island, while each and every one of the colorful cast seems to have their own hidden agendas.



In a new twist for the genre, the core of The Council’s gameplay comes from manipulating and maneuvering through character encounters using the unique Social Influence system. During confrontations, skills and limited resources can be used to gain the upper hand and achieve the desired outcome.

Players will be rewarded for their knowledge of each character’s psychological vulnerabilities and immunities, as well as their preparations made during prior exploration and investigation. Failing an encounter does not mean ‘game over’, and no action can be taken back. The consequences are permanent and may result in persistent physical disfigurements or mental traits that help or hinder the rest of the player’s adventure.



Richet’s numerous skills can be developed to align with your chosen approach to the adventure. Solve issues with diplomacy, delve into occultism to expand your historical and scientific knowledge, or play detective and see what others do not perceive. Your skills will have uses that extend far beyond your conversations with fellow guests.

With 15 diverse skills to use and invest in, players are free to uncover The Council’s mysteries how they see fit, with wildly varying consequences depending on their methods. The results will forever alter the life of Louis de Richet, of those around him, and shape history as we know it.
