Missing in Bayou Sauvage - Major Update Includes New Timeline Based Case

Hello there!

I'm excited to announce that The Curse of Grimsey Island has several updates and a completely free additional case!

Missing in Bayou Sauvage



The Lost District, Louisiana

June 6, 2066, a group of notable individuals have disappeared. Among them, Beth Bell, a former physicist and whistleblower. The only witness, Rhett "Wolf" Allen, an Army veteran, was found in a state of distress. Take to the swamps of Bayou Sauvage and uncover what happened.





Piece together the events of Beth's disappearance on a Timeline. You'll uncover both Beth's and Rhett's actions.



To access this case in the full game, select it on the Notebook in the Main Menu screen. Note that this new case has links to the main case and reinforces the main plot.

Updates



In addition to the new case, the original game has some updates as well:


  • The Time of Day functionality happens automatically when interacting with Biotraces and Audio Fragments. You'll no longer be able to change the time as it could sometimes make things confusing.
  • The Time of Day button can now be remapped.
  • All underwater creatures no longer blink out. They can be seen for longer periods now.
  • Several pictures and phone data were updated to fully link Missing in Bayou Sauvage and The Curse of Grimsey Island.
  • Fixed some textures so things look better.
  • Added more Hints in some places.
  • Fixed Transporting to retain LAWD's original rotation.
  • Added more achievements.
  • Fixed an issue with the post processing kicking in too late when starting the game.
  • Fixed an issue where the internal Nanodeck office was sometimes not visible.
  • Updated the splash screen to show both the underwater and swamp locations.
  • Updated Smartphone Drawing to open up in a proper pop-up.
  • Fixed Smartphone Photos not rendering over the Dossier information.

Hello there,

Here are some fixes that were visible in the developer commentary video. Finally reached version 1.0!

Here are the changes:


  • Fixed player character not being visible in the Nanodeck Office.
  • Fixed smartphone Drawing app image not opening in a pop-up (similar to Photos).
  • Fixed smartphone photos not covering the Dossier UI completely.

Updates for v0.9.9

Hello there,

Can't believe the game is only a couple weeks away from release! I'm still making minor adjustments here and there, especially from player/streamer feedback.

This update includes the following:


  • Added a way to view all Persons of Interest to the Mind Map (this provides a good snapshot of what has been learned about each of the characters)
  • Added support to drop evidence markers near phones
  • Updated doors and lids to open a little easier
  • Updated localization
  • Changed "Hint" to "Info" so it's a bit more clear that it's information
  • Updated some evidence to make more sense
  • Fixed a LOD issue with an object by the lighthouse
  • Updated some Persons of Interest to not require voicemail for identification
  • Fixed exposing two items too early in the viking home

Updates for v0.9.8

Hello there,

This latest update addresses the following:


  1. Added a set of tour tips when finding a Primary Scene. This helps to explain all the elements necessary to solve each case, such as the perpetrator, motive, weapon, etc.
  2. Fixed how certain tour tips are triggered so they don't interfere with cinematics.
  3. Fixed an underwater location so it's not in geometry.
  4. Fixed how some of the newspaper headlines are generated so it fits what you've discovered properly.

Updates for v0.9.7

Hello there!

I just wanted to share that The Curse of Grimsey island runs on the Steam Deck! I'll continue to make adjustments for this platform, especially since it's now my own preferred platform of choice. ːsteamthumbsupː



Also, this version has a few more minor updates:


  • Fixed a buzzing sound that plays during the game start.
  • Reduced the loud distorted buzzing sound at the end of the main menu song.
  • Fixed some interactable objects from disappearing in the Mind Map Camera.
  • Fixed the tour tips screen from being blocked if the settings screen is open.
  • Added Steam Cloud support per platform.

Updates for v0.9.6

Hello there!

The release date is just a month away! Part of the release is gathering the last bit of feedback from players and making some minor adjustments. Here's the latest batch of changes:


  • Updated scan to only highlight objects if they're immediately accessible. Opening a door can reveal more objects to investigate.
  • Added a brief tour of how to interact with the Smartphones. Essentially, interacting with every app on the phone is essential to understanding the full story.
  • Reduced the brightness of the scan effect if it's closer to the player.
  • Reduced the flashlight brightness just a little.
  • Disabled scan effect on doors and moveable objects if they're done being interacted with. This is to minimize clutter with the scan effect.
  • Added a subtle animation to the Primary Scene screen.
  • Updated the localization.


I'll be checking out streams and gathering as much feedback as I can.

Update notes for v.07.9 (SIX 2022)

Hello there - This is quite a substantial update with lots of changes in preparation for the Seattle Indies Expo 2022.

Some of the biggest changes are that the Settings menu has been revamped, as have all the in-game HUD-based puzzles and interfaces.

Here are my unedited notes from the past several days or so if you're interested in reading garbled thoughts :):
