Chapter Two progress

Hi guys!

I've decided that rather than feel guilty about the game taking ages I'd rather use that energy too..... work on the game. Lol. I'm currently studying to be a film composer at a conservatoire which is fun and time-consuming.

Thought I'd share some images of the progress of one of the levels

I have just finished my exams. Development has continued

Hi all,

Thank you for sticking by me and being so amazing. I have just finished my exams which went great. (They were A levels in Music, Computer Science, and Art and were very coursework heavy!)
I now have so much time to work on Chapter 2. It has been a pretty long break for a good reason, but I've just hopped back in, and it's all very exciting. I'm envisioning how it will come together.
Estimated worse-case release date: Summer 2022.
Estimated best-case release date: July 2022.

ALSO UNRELATED AND NOT ABOUT THE GAME BUT INTERESTING:

PS, some video went viral of me playing the piano on TikTok (Of me about 2 years ago when I was very chubby but good at piano). Take a look! Give my Dad's account some support.

Chapter 2 won't be released for a while.

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for the always appreciated support. Unfortunately, school and work have been prioritised over game development, so I highly doubt that I will be able to release chapter 2 this year. I know this will come as a disappointment, but please know that this comes from me wanting to release a game that is genuinely fun and enjoyable. It will be a paid game and I want it to be worth it.

When are we talking? not sure. I can't see it releasing later than summer 2022, but I aim to get it out around springtime 2022.

Why does this expected time of release keep changing? As a game developer, I am optimistic about my performance. But unfortunately, I have underestimated the amount of time needed to work on my school work.

Also, any messages of encouragement are and will always be appreciated. And thanks so much for supporting me!

This WILL happen!

Christian.

About the physics. Maybe multiplayer in the future?

Hey guys,

Just to keep you updated, in lockdown I've had lots of time to work on the game and it's been going well. I wanted you all to know that by popular demand I've redone the whole door system. Just to clarify, these updates will only be in the second chapter and I don't think there will be a chance that I will revamp the first chapter.

So, what did I fix? well, before, opening doors from the pull side was easy. However, the push side was a pain. You'd have to get the right angle, and look in a certain place, or walk at the same time, and it was so annoying. I've written an algorithm that works much better, still, click and drag, but the directional stuff works way better. It will the same for doors, chests, and wardrobes (You know, how you previously couldn't open a chest when crouching, that sort of stuff).

I'm researching into how difficult multiplayer could be. like I non-canon mini-game to have fun with friends where one of them is a monster. Just a little fun I could possibly put in, as people love that kind of thing. Don't get your hopes up though, it's just an idea and I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to that.

Thanks for all the support

Chapter 2

Chapter 2 more updates and details

Hi all,
So, good news. I have a new laptop which allows me to work on the game away from home (as I spend a lot of time at school). I continued the project last week after a long break and it's safe to say it's going well. Here are some features you can hope for in chapter 2-
- Less frustrating moments where not being caught does not become a task which slowly begins to be more frustrating than scary
- More creative puzzles that don't just revolve around getting a key or code.
- Exciting story that leaves you wanting to know more.
- It could be said that the game play would be more fun, and some levels with an element of pure puzzle rather than constant fear.
- About 2 hours gameplay, for either 99 cents or $1.99.
- You can’t lean through walls (Sorry)
Release month approximate – July-September 2020.
Thanks for your patience.

When is chapter 2 coming?

Hey everyone,

Things for chapter 2 are quite difficult, I have lots of schoolwork now that I’ve got A levels so it's pretty hard to tackle. I'm a one person team and that’s slowly catching up to me. I don't think It will be available until late spring next year, however- this is purely for the sake of me being able to make it as good as it can be.

Though the publicity of the game has not gone as I expected, being that not many big gaming youtubers check steam anymore and mainly rely on itchio for horror games, which is a problem because itch.io refuses to put my game on any listings at all. It’s a little bit disheartening to see so much work literally be ignored by their website, but I thank steam’s algorithm for being so kind and putting my game up on the top of listings.

Not to worry, I’m getting it sorted. Chapter 2 is in the works. It’s just taking a while.

Interview

Hey guys,

I did an interview/podcast thing with youtuber “the Next Genius” and if anyone’s interested in the development or process behind this game or anything else I suggest they check it out! Thanks <3
