Explore the Necrom Chapter & Unlock Bonus Rewards during the Secrets of the Telvanni In-Game Event
Team up with your fellow players within the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha to unlock unique rewards for all Necrom owners.
Explore the Unknown
The Secrets of the Telvanni in-game event kicks off this Thursday, September 28 at 10AM EDT, and runs until Tuesday, October 10 at 10AM EDT. During the celebration event, you can earn bonus rewards and collectibles as you complete daily quests and adventure within the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha zones.
Work together with your fellow players to complete the new event-unique daily quest, titled “Turn the Page” to progress the community meter found on the Secrets of the Telvanni event page. By the event’s end, allNecrom Chapter owners can claim all unlocked rewards. Complete a new daily quest
Every day, we’ll update the meter on the event page with the #ESOFam’s progress. The more of you who complete the quest each day, the quicker the meter will fill and unlock the rewards.
You can see the percentage goal for each of the three rewards below:
33% Ebony Dwarven Scarab pet
66% Nightmare Nest body and face markings
100% Kelesan’ruhn house
Unlock these unique rewards (and more)
To get started, acquire the quest titled “The Telvanni Secret” free from the Crown Store or find Master Faras outside the city of Necrom. Don’t forget, this event and its rewards are available only for those who own the Necrom Chapter.
In addition, when turning in the unique event daily quest, you must choose between Tralise and Yensa for one additional end-of-event reward:
Oath of the Keepers music box (from Tralise)
Apocryphal Tome furnishing (from Yensa)
Throughout the event, you can vote for which reward you’d like to unlock by choosing to either favor Tralise (to unlock the music box) or Yensa (to unlock the furnishing) when turning in the “Turn the Page” daily quest. Only one of these two bonus rewards can be unlocked!
The sister with the most favor by the event’s end will determine which bonus reward is unlocked. You can check which of the two sisters is currently favored during the event on the official page.
(Re)Discover Necrom
During the event period, as you adventure within the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha, you receive event reward boxes, called Secret Telvanni Coffers, each time you complete a daily quest. In addition, you have a chance to receive a coffer when you complete the following activities in either of the two zones:
Defeat a Delve or World Boss
Defeat a Bastion Nymic Herald or Boss
Defeat any monster
Opening treasure chests, safeboxes, Psijic Portals, etc.
Harvesting resource nodes
Pickpocketing
…and more!
When you open a Secret Telvanni Coffer, you have a chance to receive the following items:
Random crafting materials
Valuables (that can be sold to vendors) or style items
Zone set items or Companion gear (only while either Azandar or Sharp are active)
Necrom furnishings, furnishing recipes, Treasure Maps, Survey Reports, or a motif page (Dead Keeper, Clan Dreamcarver, or Kindred’s Concord)
A small chance for a tradeable style page of the NEW Apocrypha Expedition armor style
Take note, the first time you complete a Telvanni Peninsula or Apocrypha daily quest, you receive a Sublime Secret Telvanni Coffer instead of a standard one. Sublime coffers can contain the same items as regular ones, but also have a muchgreaterchance of containing the rarer rewards (such as pages for the Apocrypha Expedition armor style).
Venture into the Necrom Chapter
Finally, in addition to the reward coffers, during the event period adventurers enjoy these additional bonuses when venturing into the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha:
ALL zone daily quests and Trial weekly quests have their usual non-event reward boxes doubled.
Harvest node yields are increased.
World, Delve, and Trial Bosses all award double loot.

Discover Infinite Adventure in the Endless Archive
Delve into an all-new PvE activity with the Endless Archive, arriving soon with the free Update 40 base-game patch.
Endless Exploration
Prepare yourself for an all-new PvE challenge in the Endless Archive, a unique unending dungeon-like activity. Whether you go it solo or team up with a fellow player or Companion, your success in the Endless Archive is limited only by your preparation, skills, and determination.
Of all the infinite libraries of Hermaeus Mora’s realm, the archive is one of Apocrypha’s most mysterious secrets. However, a malevolent Daedra now threatens to corrupt everything collected within its myriad halls, and Master Malkhest, its custodian, needs your help confronting this strange new foe.
The Endless Archive arrives with the Update 40 base-game patch on October 30 for PC/Mac and November 14 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles. As a base-game addition, this new PvE activity is completely free for all existing ESO players with no additional DLC or Chapter purchase required. You can enter the Endless Archive via your map (from anywhere in the game) or the physical entrance found in Apocrypha (if you own the Necrom Chapter). Take note, while exploring the archive, ESO Plus members will enjoy a +10% boost to Archival Fortunes gains, a unique currency we share more on below!
Eternal Challenge
In the Endless Archive, you must battle your way through dynamic stages and untold dangers, including monsters and boss encounters drawn from all over Nirn. No two expeditions into the Archive will ever be the same, as each Stage and encounter is randomly generated. Complete four Cycles (each comprised of three Stages and a boss battle) and your fifth boss battle with be against a monster unique to the Endless Archive—thus completing an Arc!
Of course, after you defeat the corruption at the archive’s heart, your expedition doesn’t end there, as you can traverse ever deeper into more Stages, Cycles, and Arcs, with the difficulty gradually increasing as you do! How deep you delve into the Endless Archive is ultimately up to you. Survive endless foes
While you have a limited number of deaths (or team wipes) permitted before your run ends, helping you get as far as possible are two unique boons you can collect as you progress: Verses and Visions. Verses are temporary buffs you can select at the end of each Stage that last until the end of the next Stage. Visions, on the other hand, are available at the end of each Cycle and provide a boon that lasts for your entire run. For example, Flame Aura is a Verse that envelops you in fire, damaging nearby enemies, while Crystalline Support is a Vision which explodes for frost damage and snares foes. The Visions and Verses you select as you progress can go a long way to determining how far you can go—choose wisely!
Infinite Rewards
As you battle your way deeper into the Endless Archive and climb the leaderboards, you can loot and unlock a host of unique rewards not found in any other activity in game. This includes a broad selection of collectibles, including a mount, pet, cosmetics, and all-new Class sets.
A new and unique type of item set, Class sets buff the abilities for the game’s seven unique classes, providing synergy with specific Skill Lines. You can collect these powerful new items via loot drops or the Archive’s unique vendor. Collect powerful Class sets
In addition to the above items and collectibles, the Endless Archive also rewards you with a unique currency, called Archival Fortunes. Fortunes can be traded to vendors in the Archive’s starting area for a host of consumables, Class set items, style pages, and most notably, unique buffs for your excursions.
These purchasable buffs are permanently active for your future Endless Archive runs. For example, some buffs grant additional Vision or Verse choices while others simply increase their power. The more Archival Fortunes you collect, the more you can empower further expeditions into the Archive’s ever-changing halls.
Unlimited Dangers
In the Endless Archive, you can discover a new dynamically generated PvE challenge where no two runs are ever the same. Clear Stages, Cycles, and Arcs, and contend with an ever-growing host of dangers as you climb the leaderboards and unlock unique rewards. Are you ready to delve into this all-new activity? Don’t forget, as part of Update 40, it’s free for ALL existing ESO players. Let us know if you’re ready to begin your expedition into the Endless Archive via Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook, and good luck!
The Endless Archive is a new PvE activity free for all ESO players that arrives with the Update 40 base-game patch on October 30 for PC/Mac and November 14 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
Update 40 Brings All-New Improvements to Tamriel’s Adventurers
Learn about some of the key additions and changes arriving with the free Update 40 base-game patch.
The Update 40 base-game patch arrives October 30 on PC/Mac and November 14 on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. In addition to the Endless Archive PvE activity, this update also introduces a host of new features and additions completely free for all existing ESO players, no additional purchases required.
New Grouping Tool
If you enjoy teaming up with your fellow adventures, the new Group Finder allows you to create parties for almost any group activity in ESO. This includes dungeons, arenas, the upcoming Endless Archive, trials, PvP, and more.
You can choose to make a listing to find players to fill out your existing group (even when starting solo), or you can search for a group that already exists and wants to do the same content that you do. This new tool also allows you to tune the criteria your group members must meet, including these examples:
Player CP levels
Whether they use in-game voice chat
Their playstyle
A desired group role composition
The Group Finder tool
With the new Group Finder, teaming up with your fellow adventurers should be as easy as ever!
Grand Master Crafting Stations
Update 40 also introduces Grand Master Crafting Stations, allowing you to consolidate all your home’s attuned crafting stations for a crafting skill line into a single furnishing. If your base of operations is packed full of attuned crafting stations supporting many of ESO’s myriad item sets, these new consolidated stations will go a long way to improving the amount of housing slots spent without giving up any of the functionality you enjoyed previously.
You can acquire Grand Master Crafting Stations using Writ Vouchers from the Achievement Mediator, Faustina Curio. There will be a consolidated station for Blacksmithing, Jewelry Crafting, Clothing, and Woodworking—happy crafting!
Assorted Additional Improvements
Jewelry Crafting Rebalance
Also included in Update 40 is a rebalance of Jewelry Crafting to help bring its costs more in line with the game’s other crafting disciplines. This includes completely removing Jewelry Crafting grains and converting them into platings! However, to ensure that Jewelry Crafting’s costs line up with the other crafting types, we’ve also increased the total boosters needed to upgrade your jewelry, too. But don't worry, upgrading your rings and amulets in Update 40 will be easier and cheaper when compared to how it is currently.
Quest XP & Gold Standardization
With Update 40, we conducted a broad audit and standardization of the Experience Point and Gold rewards for many of the game’s quests. This includes those for quests and questlines associated with zones, main storylines, prologues, dailies, guild storylines, and many more. Now, you should receive more consistent rewards for the game’s various quests based on their complexity or length. In addition, the daily quest rewards for Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, and Undaunted have received a general boost.
These are just some of the many changes and additions coming to ESO with the Update 40 base-game patch. You can experience them (and the Endless Archive) for yourself when the update arrives on the PC/Mac Public Test Server in a few days (Monday, September 18) or when it all arrives on October 30 for PC/Mac and November 14 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Update 39 Base-Game Patch Now Live on PC/Mac
Discover the host of additions and improvements arriving with the free Update 39 base-game patch.
The Update 39 base-game patch is now live on PC/Mac and introduces a series of long-awaited improvements and additions to The Elder Scrolls Online, completely free of charge for all existing ESO players. If you’re a console player, don’t worry: Update 39 arrives September 5 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles, too! Update 39 Base Game Improvements
As a base-game patch, Update 39 includes a wide array of bug fixes, but also features a series of long-awaited improvements to your in-game experience.
Quest & Content Improvements for New Players
If you’re a new player feeling overwhelmed when first entering Tamriel, you can enjoy a series of changes that reduce the volume and frequency of quests offered to your low-level characters. This includes quests from NPCs for the main story, Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Battlegrounds, Undaunted, and others. Instead, these quests are now delivered more gradually as you level up, helping your journal stay in a manageable state for longer!
Tamriel’s navigator NPCs that can transport your characters between destinations have also received some improvements with this update. Now, these navigators indicate whether they can transport you to a location for one of your tracked quests (active or inactive.) When exploring, you now see the “door” pin above relevant navigator NPCs, indicating that they can help you in your journey. In addition, appropriate dialog lines with those same NPCs have similar pins, ensuring you make the right choice and go where you need to go—happy travels! Taking your first steps into Tamriel is daunting
Inventory Management Improvements
If you’re struggling with an overburdened Inventory, Update 39 also includes changes to key item types to help improve management and reduce clutter. Some (but not all) similar Crown Store items that came from separate sources (such as Tri-Restoration Potions) can now all be stacked together using the “Stack All Items” option. Also, this patch adds better communication regarding which items in your Inventory can or cannot be sold, helping you identify and clear out unwanted items and make a little gold in the process!
PvP Additions & New Rewards
This update adds new rewards for Tamriel’s PvP victors in the form of three new monster mask sets: Jerall Mountains Warchief, Nibenay Bay Battlereeve, and Colovian Highlands General. Each grants unique and powerful boons, and you can trade Alliance Points for these new masks with Cyrodiil Elite Gear Vendors within the Eastern Elsweyr Gate, Southern High Rock Gate, and Northern Morrowind Gate. Chase down new PvP rewards
In addition, you can now claim new Unfeathered Battle Body and Face Markings from Gladiator’s Rucksacks (earned by completing Cyrodiil Conquest Mission Board daily quests), and the Imperial City’s hapless Treasure Scamps nowdrop even better loot when hunted down. In particular, Cunning Scamps drop more Tel Var Stones and Trove Scamps drop tradable pieces of Imperial City gear sets.
Finally, while battling in Cyrodiil, the Imperial City, and Battlegrounds, you can now see new death notifications that help you plan your next move (or avoid that incoming zerg!).
Home Editor Improvements
With Update 39, this patch gives you the ability to place a furnishing directly from your Inventory or Collectibles UI while in your home. You can now find a “Place” option when viewing the specific furnishings. In addition, you can preview Crown Store furnishings in your home before you buy, helping you determine how a new item might look when placed. Place furnishings from Inventory and Collectibles
Of course, these are just some of the changes and additions that arrive with Update 39. To see a complete list of everything this new base-game patch introduces to ESO, visit our Patch Notes forum.
As a base-game update, your version of ESO automatically updates on PC/Mac via the ESO Launcher. Note that to run ESO on PC/Mac, your machine needs to meet the game's requirements here: PC, Mac. Don’t forget, Update 39 arrives on consoles September 5.
As mentioned above, this is a free base-game update for all ESO players. Anybody with access to the game can download and enjoy these new additions and changes. There is no previous purchase required (aside from the game itself).
Tamriel Evolves
With the free Update 39 base-game patch, you can enjoy the above improvements and more to help you get the most out of your time in Tamriel. Which of the above changes and additions are you most excited to experience? Let us know via Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.
The Update 39 base-game patch is now live PC/Mac and arrives September 5 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 consoles. AnnouncementsUpdate 39
Meet the Character—Stibbons
Learn more about loyal Stibbons, Lady Clarisse Laurent’s ever-faithful manservant and victim of a many great misfortunes.
My dear Lady Arabelle,
You ask an interesting question. Do I recommend a manservant to assist you in the everyday tasks that require the attention of noble women such as ourselves? I find that no simple answer springs quickly to my mind.
Now, having a manservant to catalog and care for my clothing, jewelry, and personal accessories is imperative. As is the help provided in dressing and styling my hair. Not to mention packing and unpacking for travel, preparing meals, and serving tea. But if you wind up with the wrong manservant, every day can feel like riding to Oblivion in an ox cart. Let me tell you about the trials and tribulations of my faithful manservant, Stibbons.
Don’t get me wrong. Stibbons is as loyal as a Dark Elf’s nix-hound, but he nevertheless drives me absolutely to thoughts of violence on frequent occasions. For example, he can be lazy and inattentive without constant supervision. He drinks too much. He has an unnatural fondness for your precious Investigator Vale fables. And he tends to always be underfoot, like a sad, little puppy.
As you know, my work takes me to many exotic locations and finds me in numerous adventures. I’m sure you’ve read about them. As much as I appreciate his efforts to assist me, more often than not he blunders into something that I must then extract him from. Should I list some cases in point? For completeness’s sake I think I must!
Whether helping me explore an ancient ruin, study a Daedric relic, or locate a lost treasure, Stibbons inevitably accidentally breaks something, activates a curse, or sets off a trap. I suppose better him than me, but I do wish he would be more careful. Stibbons has been possessed by a ghost, turned into a goblin, captured by a somewhat pretty Daedra, frozen in a block of ice, trapped in an Argonian egg, and multiplied into numerous copies of himself. And I won’t even mention the time he misread a scroll and got entangled in a spider’s web. I spend as much gold and time getting him out of trouble as he spends getting into it!
Still. Now, don’t spread this around, but I’d be lost without him. Stibbons knows exactly how to press my garments and brush my hair. He brews an excellent pot of tea and cooks up a wonderful fish stew. He also knows exactly where everything I need is located and can retrieve it for me relatively quickly when I call for it. He keeps all my research in order, which makes writing my reports and travelogues much easier to compose than you would think. Not that you know anything about getting ink stains out of satin, wink wink.
There is one other thing that I almost decided not to mention. I have come to care for Stibbons in my own way. I suppose you could say I’ve gotten used to having him around, faults and all. Maybe it’s because I know he needs me as much as I rely on him. Or perhaps it’s his most excellent foot rubs. They certainly do the trick after a long day trekking through ancient Dwemer cities and whatnot. If you say a word of this to Stibbons, I will deny it quite strenuously. And then I may be forced to mention that incident you told me about between you and Jorunn the Skald King. Or was it Rigurt the Brash? Nords. Who can tell them apart?
So after all that, I suppose I would recommend you find yourself a good manservant. Perhaps if you seek one with qualities exactly opposite of what I just described, you will be much happier.
As for your other question, certainly not. Stibbons’ contract is not for sale. Do not even jest about such a thing.
Most sincerely,
Lady Clarisse Laurent
If there’s hardship to be had in Tamriel, Stibbons has suffered it in his loyal service to his lady. Have you encountered Stibbons in your adventures? Let us know via Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
