Scribes of Fate DLC Game Pack
Gather your allies and venture into brand-new four-player PvE dungeons: Bal Sunnar and Scrivener’s Hall. In these dungeons, you discover two unique stories that kick off the larger Shadow Over Morrowind adventure, leading into the upcoming Necrom Prologue and Necrom Chapter release later this year.
Bal Sunnar
The Telvanni township of Bal Sunnar has begun emanating mysterious temporal magics, and the Psijic Order needs your help investigating this dangerous phenomenon. However, House Telvanni is not fond of outsiders meddling in its business and stand ready to defend its secrets at any cost. Bal Sunnar
In Bal Sunnar, you and your allies must battle through time itself as you race to uncover the truth behind the temporal anomaly before its chaotic influence can spread to all of Morrowind. Learn more about this dungeon’s setting, challenges, and rewards in our recent preview.
Scrivener’s Hall
The Scribes of Mora were once a peaceful organization dedicated to the collection of information on behalf of the Lord of Knowledge, Hermaeus Mora. However, a sinister new leader has usurped control over the cult and threatens to lead the Scribes of Mora down a dangerous path. Scrivener’s Hall
Team up with the Scribes of Mora’s former leader, Keshargo, and travel between realms as he seeks a powerful relic that is key to reclaiming his position as Magnastylus. As you do this, you also need to stop the ambitious Valinna before she can forever damn the souls of her followers. Discover more about Scrivener’s Hall’s dangers, settings, and rewards in this preview.
You can also attempt both dungeons in normal, veteran, and hard mode difficulties. Each mode features unique rewards and Achievements, including six new item sets, two monster sets, and a host of collectibles including a new skin, emotes, and more—good luck!

Update 37 Base-Game Patch
In addition to the dungeon DLC, this launch also includes the Update 37 base-game patch. This new patch is completely free for all existing ESO players and introduces a host of fixes, additions, and improvements to the game.
Screen Narration
With Update 37, we’ve added an all-new accessibility feature: screen narration. With screen narration turned on, the majority (but not all) of the game’s menus are narrated. You can enable this new setting in the Accessibility menu under Settings. Screen Narration
With this setting enabled, you can choose between a masculine or feminine voice and set the volume and speed of the narration. It is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
Hide Shoulders
This new patch also introduces a new cosmetic tool: Hide Shoulders. Available for Event Tickets from the Impresario event vendor, Hide Shoulders works like Hide Helm and allows you to hide this part of your outfit when customizing your look in an Outfit Station. Hide Shoulders
Look for future event announcements to find out when you’ll have your first opportunity to acquire this new outfit option.
Housing Improvements
Finally, Update 37 also includes a host of quality-of-life improvements for the Housing System, including new filters for the editor’s placement and retrieval tabs, the ability to reset training dummies, and the ability to see a full list of furnishings when shopping both furnished and unfurnished homes.
These are just some of the free additions and improvements coming to the game, so be sure to check out the patch notes on our official forums to discover more!

Scribes of Fate Preview—Scrivener’s Hall
Reclaim a powerful Daedric artifact and save the Scribes of Mora from a dangerous usurper in Scrivener’s Hall.
Part of the Shadow Over Morrowind adventure, Scrivener’s Hall is one of the two all-new dungeons included in the Scribes of Fate DLC, arriving on PC/Mac on March 13 and on Xbox and PlayStation consoles March 28.
A Change in Leadership
Since their founding, the Scribes of Mora have dedicated their lives in secret to the Lord of Knowledge, Hermaeus Mora. However, the Scribes’ long-time leader Keshargo was recently ousted by the upstart Valinna, who has other, more sinister plans for the cult.
“The Scribes of Mora were a passive organization dedicated to mapping the Daedric planes,” explains Mike Finnigan, ESO’s Encounters Lead. “Their primary goal was seeking information and gathering knowledge as befits followers of Hermaeus Mora. However, Valinna's goal is to transform the Scribes into a militant force of devout zealots.” Explore the library of the Scribes of Mora
“In order to achieve her goals, she knows she needs to locate the Itinerant Staff, the traditional symbol of power for the Scribes, which has the ability to instantly return the wielder to Scrivener's Hall,” explains Finnigan. “Keshargo knows where the staff is hidden, but he is not talking.”
To reclaim the title of “Magnastylus,” Keshargo must retrieve the Itinerant Staff himself before Valinna can find it. He’ll need your help sneaking into the Scrivener’s Hall, battling back Valinna’s devout followers, and returning the Scribes of Mora to their original purpose.
Empowered by Mora
The Scribes of Mora might have been a peaceful order in the past, but under Valinna’s twisted leadership, they have become fearsome battlemages, capable of wielding dangerous spells and controlling massive magical constructs.
“The Scribes of Mora being dedicated followers of Hermaeus Mora is an obvious connection to the larger Shadow Over Morrowind story,” explains Finnigan. “And as a result of their devotion, you will see monsters within the dungeon using powerful Arcanist abilities.” Face cultists empowered by Hermaeus Mora
“As a group dedicated to traveling through Daedric planes, players can also expect to encounter some different realms of Oblivion,” says Finnigan. “Some will seem familiar, such as the Deadlands, but players will also get to explore the Spiral Skein, the Daedric Plane of Mephala, too.”
As you make your way to the Itinerant Staff and venture between realms, in addition to the Scribes, you’ll need to contend with bloodthirsty Dremora and hulking Daedric monsters, such as one of the dungeon’s bosses, Ozezan. The monstrous Ozezan the Inferno
“All of the dungeon’s bosses have unique mechanics that players haven't seen before,” says Finnigan. “But I think Ozezan the Inferno is worth highlighting as we have not used an Infernium in a dungeon before. Monster placement is key in this battle, and it will test players’ positioning to ensure the boss doesn’t fill the entire space with lava.”
Ultimately, you and your allies must help Keshargo finally confront Valinna herself, empowered by an unknown force, and stop her before the Scribes of Mora are forever damned. As part of the Shadow Over Morrowind adventure, what you uncover in Scrivener’s Hall will lead directly into the story to come, and this might not be the last time you encounter the Itinerant Staff.
Gifts of Knowledge (and Power)
Should you help Keshargo reclaim the mantle of leadership, you’ll unlock a mysterious collection of collectibles and items, some unique to Scrivener’s Hall. This includes the Iterative Onyx Glyphic memento (for completing the dungeon on Veteran difficulty), the Sextant emote (for completing optional content in both dungeons), and the Lost emote (earned simply by entering one of the two new dungeons).
In addition to the above, Scrivener’s Hall also drops three unique gear sets and a new monster set. This includes the Runecarver’s Blaze light set, which can help boost the damage you do with your damage over time abilities. “Runecarver's Blaze adds even more fuel to your fire,” explains Nadav Pechthold, the Combat Designer behind the dungeon's item sets. “Lay on multiple damage over time abilities and watch your enemies light up every time one of them hits that three-second tick.”
With these arcane new item sets and collectibles, Scrivener’s Hall allows you to claim Hermaeus Mora’s boons for yourself.
Save the Scribes
The Scribes of Mora’s new leader has set them upon a destructive path, and Keshargo needs your help returning the Daedric cult to their original purpose. Are you ready to travel between realms and claim the Itinerant Staff? Tell us if you’re excited to delve into Scrivener’s Hall when the Scribes of Fate DLC launches this month via Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.

Scribes of Fate Preview—Bal Sunnar
Battle your way through time as you and your allies investigate a temporal anomaly in Bal Sunnar, one of the two new dungeons arriving with the Scribes of Fate DLC!
Kicking off the Shadow Over Morrowind adventure, Bal Sunnar is one of two exciting new dungeons included in the Scribes of Fate DLC, arriving on PC/Mac on March 13 and on Xbox and PlayStation consoles March 28.
Telvanni Temporal Tribulations
Located in the eastern region of Stonefalls, the remote Telvanni township of Bal Sunnar has endured in isolation for centuries. However, mysterious magical energies have begun to emanate from the village, prompting one of Tamriel’s most-secretive orders to investigate.
“Bal Sunnar is kind of tucked away in the mountains and generally keeps to itself,” explains Mike Finnigan, ESO’s Encounters Lead. “The problem is that there is a temporal anomaly present in the town. Someone is using time magic, so the Psijic Order has come to investigate.”
To this end, Saresea has arrived at the gates of Bal Sunnar, and you and your party must help the Psijic Order agent explore the Telvanni town, find the source of the temporal magics, and shut it down. As part of the Shadow Over Morrowind adventure, what you find in Bal Sunnar will reverberate throughout the adventures to come.
“Why the temporal anomaly is here in this place is a mystery,” says Finnigan. “But WHAT the anomaly truly is and its ultimate purpose is an even bigger one.”
Battle Through Time
Despite the danger the anomaly represents, House Telvanni has no love of outsiders meddling in their affairs, and they stand read to defend their secrets by any means necessary.
“When you first arrive in Bal Sunnar, the Telvanni seem to recognize you, even calling you the ‘scourge,’” says Finnigan. “This is a bit weird considering you haven’t been here before, but as you dive deeper into the dungeon, you will begin to realize why that is. Even worse, some of the enemies seem to have embraced the temporal magic and use it to their advantage in battle.” Bal Sunnar’s defenders utilize temporal magics
House Telvanni conjurers, mages, and even more fearsome beasts guard the town, and as you progress, you’ll discover the anomaly’s full power and find yourself and your allies unstuck in time—with each area bringing new experiences and challenges.
“The dungeon’s first section is Dark Elf in the traditional sense, and it features common allies they have co-opted,” explains Finnigan. “The second section adds more animalistic enemies common to Morrowind (such as nix-oxen and nix-hounds), while the third section sees the town in the throes of Peryite worship with heavy influences from poison and disease effects.” Encounter Bal Sunnar across time
Temporal magics are powerful and unpredictable, and the Telvanni have made good use of them to bolster their defenses. This is especially true in each of the dungeon’s three boss fights, such as Roksa the Warped, a massive, mutated nix-ox that is sure to keep your party on its toes.
Despite these challenges, you are not without help, and you and your allies should look to Saresea’s own power as a member of the Psijic Order to overcome Bal Sunnar’s various threats.
Eternal Rewards
Should you battle your way through time and succeed in stopping the anomaly, you’ll uncover a host of rewards, many unique to this dungeon. This includes four new item sets (including a new monster set) in addition to new titles, Achievements, collectibles, and more.
Collectibles you can earn from Ban Sunnar include the Lost emote (earned by simply entering either one of the two Scribes of Fate dungeons), the Taskmaster’s Banner skin (earned via completion on Veteran difficulty), and the Sextant emote (earned via completing optional content in both dungeons). Unlock new rewards with Scribes of Fate
Some of the new gear you’ll have an opportunity to acquire in Bal Sunnar includes the Nix-Hound’s Howl medium set, which buffs your Weapon and Spell Damage while also debuffing your foes. “Nix-Hound's Howl makes you the ultimate pest by taking your opponent's strength for yourself,” explains Nadav Pechthold, the Combat Designer behind Bal Sunnar’s new gear. “Not only does this set make you more powerful, but your allies will benefit from your weakened foe!”
Scribe the Future
Telvanni mages, time-warped beasts, and Daedric cultists stand between you and the mystery at the heart of Bal Sunnar. In this new dungeon, you can commence your Shadow Over Morrowind adventure and begin pulling at the threads of a larger storyline—one that threatens Nirn and Oblivion both.
Are you ready to venture into time itself, confront House Telvanni, and assist the Psijic Order in putting an end to the temporal anomaly? Let us know via Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook!
The Elder Scrolls Online: Scribes of Fate and Update 37 arrives on March 13 for PC/Mac, and on March 28 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

Update 37 Preview—Screen Narration, Hide Shoulders, & More
Learn about some of the new features everybody who plays ESO can enjoy with the Update 37 base-game patch.
Arriving in tandem with the Scribes of Fate DLC pack on March 13 for PC/Mac and March 28 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles, the Update 37 base-game patch is a free update for all ESO players—no additional purchase required. This patch introduces a series of balance changes, bug fixes, and new features.
Screen Narration
The latest in ESO’s ongoing accessibility-focused improvements, Update 37 introduces Screen Narration, allowing you to have the majority of the game’s menus (with some exceptions) narrated to you as you navigate.
This option becomes available for everybody who enables Accessibility Mode in the game’s settings menu (navigate to Settings, then Accessibility), and it allows you to choose between a masculine or feminine voice and set both the speed and volume of the narration. The Screen Narration option
The narration is computer generated in the language you choose to play in (English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, or Simplified Chinese).
Note that some menus and UI elements are not supported by Screen Narration at this time, including Scrying, Excavating, Tales of Tribute, lockpicking, and certain fishing and Champion Point screens. In addition, some gameplay elements, such as combat, in-world navigation, and interactable objects are not narrated in addition to interactions with NPCs and character dialog (to ensure it does not conflict with the voice acting).
We plan to integrate additional menus into screen narration in the future, and we hope this new addition to our Accessibility Mode options helps our players get the most out of the game.
Hide Shoulders
Also arriving as part of Update 37 is Hide Shoulders, a new cosmetic Collectible that allows you to, well, hide whatever shoulder gear your character is currently wearing. Like Hide Helm, this option can be enabled when customizing your look in the Outfit Station. Simply navigate to Armor Styles, select Shoulders, and then select the Hide Shoulders “style.”
To enable Hide Shoulders, you must first acquire it by spending Event Tickets at the Impresario during any of ESO’s upcoming in-game events. Keep an eye out on elderscrollsonline.com for information on when the next event arrives—hint: it’s a silly one! Before and after using Hide Shoulders
We know the community has been asking for the ability to free their shoulders (without losing gear bonuses) for a long time now, and we can’t wait to see the stylish-AND-functional new looks that come with it!
Housing Improvements
Finally, we squeezed in some new quality-of-life improvements for the Housing System. This includes a set of new filters for the Housing Editor’s placement and retrieval tabs, allowing you to place items specifically from your bank, inventory, house storage, or collectibles, items that are bound or unbound, and items by the furnishing limit type they fall under.
We also added the ability to reset training dummies you're in combat with (making it easier to restart a parse) and improved your ability to see and manage who is in your home from the Housing Editor’s Settings menu. This includes real-time notifications when guests arrive and depart, plus an option to kick occupants out if they’re getting too rowdy!
In addition, when shopping for a new house, you can see a full list of the furnishings that come with both the furnished and unfurnished versions before you buy. If you’re a Housing aficionado, look for these new features and more soon!
Update 37 For All
These are just some of the highlights you can enjoy with the Update 37 base-game patch, and a host of further changes, additions, and improvements are not mentioned above. This includes updates to target markers (improving enemy player targeting and adding new settings) and a realignment of daily and weekly reset timers (10AM UTC for NA servers and 3AM UTC for EU servers) for daily quests, daily Enlightenment bonuses, daily writs, and more.
Update 37 arrives on March 13 for PC/Mac, and on March 28 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Don’t forget, as a base-game patch, this update is free for all existing ESO players, with no purchase required! You can check out everything coming in Update 37 in the patch notes found in our Public Test Server forum right now, or check out the live patch notes forum when it arrives in March!
