Celebrate the Absurd During the Jester’s Festival In-Game Event
Publicize the pointless and the preposterous with a pretend party sure to perplex the pretentious and the pessimistic but please your puerile peers who profess a passion for playfulness and princely porcine prizes.
Translation: The Jester’s Festival has returned!
A Frivolous Fête
The Jester’s Festival in-game event is live from Thursday, March 25 at 10AM EDT/2PM GMT until Thursday, April 1 at 10AM EDT/3PM BST. During this jovial jubilee, you can earn special event-specific rewards and enjoy a 100% XP boost while completing some truly absurd Jester’s Festival quests.
Seek out the Jester’s Festival pavilions located outside the cities of Ebonheart (Stonefalls), Vulkhel Guard (Auridon), and Daggerfall (Glenumbra) to get started. If you’re having trouble and need directions, you can pick up the Jester’s Festival starter quest free from the in-game Crown Store. Look for it in the Quest Starters category.
Chat with the noble jester versions of the Skald-King, Queen Ayrenn, or High King Emeric, and complete the intro quest and you’ll receive the Pie of Misrule memento—a delicious treat that will also grant you a two-hour, 100% XP buff! Once you’ve completed the intro quest, each jester will also provide you with a daily quest to help spread the joy of the silly season to all of Tamriel.
Find the Jester’s pavilion to join in on the fun!
This year, as a special treat, we’ve added three brand-new daily quests:
You can complete these AND the original three quests each day, each helping to bring frivolous fun to the people of Tamriel!
Ridiculous Rewards
When you complete a Jester’s Festival daily quest, you’ll receive a Jester’s Festival Reward Box as an additional prize. These wonderful wares can contain goodies such as valuables (to sell to vendors for gold), consumables, recipes, furnishings, Revelry Pies, and fragments of the new Playful Prankster’s Surprise Box memento. But wait, there’s more! The first time you complete a daily quest each day, you’ll receive a Stupendous Reward Box instead of the regular one. This special box can include the same items as detailed above, but it also has a chance to contain these items:
Once you’ve earned your daily Stupendous Reward Box, you can still complete the other daily quests to grab additional regular Reward Boxes, too.
Enjoy the Festival’s princely porcine rewards!
In addition to the daily quests and reward boxes, you can earn special Jester’s Festival Achievements by spreading some cheer the old-fashioned way—with pie! When equipped to your quickbar, the Revelry Pies make for spectacular (and tasty!) projectiles, so be sure to share these delicious treats with your fellow players and NPCs alike as you make your way around Tamriel.
As the people of Tamriel come to fear your sticky wrath, you can earn unique event-specific Achievements:
Take note that not all share your finely honed sense of humor, and some might object to having a pie thrown in their face—crazy, right?
By completing the above Achievements, you’ll also earn the “Tin Soldier” and “Empieror” titles and the Obnoxious Mute Face Paint head marking. Finally, you can also earn the Crown of Misrule hat and Lord/Lady of Misrule title by completing each of the three original daily quests or the Royal Jester title and some furnishings by completing every Jester’s Festival Achievement.
Grab Your Event Tickets
The first time you complete a Jester’s Festival daily quest each day, you’ll receive three Event Tickets as a bonus reward. The Event Ticket timer resets at 1:00AM EDT each morning. If you earn new Event Tickets over the 12-limit cap, you’ll lose them.
The Impresario will stock the following items during the Jester’s Festival event:
Note that none of the above items are tradeable if acquired with Event Tickets from the Impresario.
This is your last chance to get the final fragment for the Deadlands Scorcher skin. The next event will have the first fragment for an entirely new reward, so don’t miss out!
Crown Store Items
During the Jester’s Festival period, you can also pick up some fancy returning and new items from the in-game Crown Store. These bizarre festival-exclusive items include the Regal Regalia weapons and the Prince Boar pet:
This is just a tantalizing taste of some of the absurd items you can pick up in the store during the event period, so be sure to check out everything on our Crown Store page.
A Festival of Fun!
Help bring some foolish fun to Tamriel this Jester’s Festival and you’ll enjoy double XP and host of ridiculous event-specific rewards. How are you planning to spend the silly season this year? Tell us via Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.
The Jester’s Festival in-game event begins this Thursday, March 25 at 10AM EDT/2PM GMT, and runs until Thursday, April 1 at 10AM EDT/3PM BST.

The Flames of Ambition DLC game pack is now live on PC/Mac and brings two new dungeons to the adventurers of Tamriel. This release also includes Update 29, a free base-game patch for all ESO players that introduces a host of changes and improvements. If you play on Xbox One or PlayStation®4, don’t worry, this DLC and update will also arrive on consoles March 16.
Within the DLC and free base-game patch, you will find:

Flames of Ambition DLC Game Pack
The Gates of Oblivion year-long adventure begins in fire with the Flames of Ambition DLC game pack and two exciting new dungeons, the Cauldron and Black Drake Villa. While both dungeons are exciting stand-alone stories in their own right, both also set up the events of the upcoming Blackwood Chapter and beyond.
Black Drake Villa
Team up with the adventurous Wood Elf scout Eveli Sharp-Arrow and search the hidden archives of the Black Drake Villa before the mercenaries of the True-Sworn put it to the torch. Take note, while the once-proud mansion is now home to monsters and arsonists, it contains many puzzling secrets and pathways just waiting to be uncovered by eagle-eyed adventurers. You can discover more about Black Drake Villa in our preview.
Confront the flame-wielding True-Sworn
The Cauldron
The cult of the Waking Flame has enslaved the local townsfolk and now excavates sinister ruins deep within a long-forgotten mine. With the help of the Dremora Lyranth, you must enter the Cauldron, battle your way through Daedric beasts and cultists, free the captives, and put a stop to their plans before they can complete their dread work. You can preview more of the Cauldron in this article.
Uncover the Waking Flame’s plans in the Cauldron
These new dungeons provide two very different experiences for would-be adventures, and they come packed with a host of unique rewards, including powerful gear sets, Achievements, and collectibles. You can attempt to complete both dungeons in Normal and Veteran difficulties, and Black Drake Villa has an optional Hard Mode for each of its three bosses—just in case you and your team want a true challenge!
How to Get Flames of Ambition
Access the Flames of Ambition DLC game pack via ESO Plus™ membership or purchase it for 1,500 crowns from the in-game Crown Store (listed under DLC). Note that if your ESO Plus membership lapses, you will lose access to the DLC until you renew your membership or purchase it with crowns, but you won’t lose any items, Achievements, or other rewards you earned while you had access.
Flames of Ambition Collector’s Bundle
The Flames of Ambition Collector’s Bundle is also available for 4,000 crowns and includes access to the DLC game pack, the Falinesti’s Faithful Totem Elk mount, the Clearspring Striped Fawn pet, and five Crown Experience Scrolls. Update 29
Releasing in tandem with the Flames of Ambition DLC, Update 29 is a free base-game patch that brings new features and improvements for all ESO players.
Champion System Redesign
With the redesigned Champion System, you can better tailor your characters and their playstyles based on the way you want to play. This updated system now uses three constellation groups that reflect ESO’s gameplay and provides more options for creative and unique builds. These changes also introduce a champion bar, allowing you to slot up to four powerful passive boons for each constellation, ensuring that every decision you make with regards to how you spend your Champion Points is an impactful one.
Customize your characters with the updated Champion System
For more on the update to the Champion System, check out our preview.
Improved Character Sheet
In addition to the Champion System redesign, the team has also updated the character sheet to include additional advanced stats that were previously obscured or missing. With these additions, you can better see how changes to your character (be it via Champion Points, abilities, gear, or attributes) change its effectiveness—now get out there and craft your perfect build!
For everything coming with the Update 29 base-game patch, check out our Patch Notes forum.
The Gates of Oblivion Beckon
Delve into the Flames of Ambition’s two new dungeons and you’ll kick off an adventure that continues with the Blackwood Chapter and beyond. The Prince of Destruction has plans for the people of Tamriel, and you can glimpse his terrible schemes within the Cauldron and Black Drake Villa. Are you ready to battle the minions of Mehrunes Dagon in these two new dungeons? Tell us via @TESOnline, Instagram, and Facebook.
The Gates of Oblivion year-long saga begins with the Flames of Ambition DLC game pack, now live on PC/Mac and Stadia*, and coming March 16 for Xbox One and PlayStation®4. This update releases in tandem with Update 29, a free base-game patch for all ESO players.

Get a free pet and rebuild your characters from the ground up during the Heroes Reforged in-game mini event.
Build A New You
To celebrate the arrival of Update 29’s Champion System overhaul, we’re happy to announce the Heroes Reforged mini event. Beginning with the launch of Update 29 for each platform (PC/Mac: Monday, March 8 at 10AM EST/3PM GMT; Xbox One and PlayStation®4: Tuesday, March 16 at 10AM/3PM), this event will run for two weeks and allow you unlimited free respecs from Rededication Shrines for the following:
Note that the above start times may shift depending on when Update 29 goes live and servers open, and when you first log in, all Skills and Champion Points will be automatically reset.
While the changes coming with Update 29 impact only the Champion System, we know that you’ll likely want to test many builds, so for two weeks you can reset, respec, and rebuild any and all of your characters as many times as you want for free when using a Rededication Shrine or the Champion Point redistribution function—easy!
Finally, this is not a full in-game event (such as the Midyear Mayhem or the recent Tribunal Celebration), and as a result it will not have Event Tickets or unique rewards—just free re-specializations. That’s two weeks to experiment and test your builds at no cost.
Grab a Free Pet
Because Update 29 requires a mandatory skill respec (including both Champion Points and Skill Points), we’re also offering the Ambersheen Vale Fawn pet from the in-game Crown Store, completely free!
The adorable Ambersheen Vale Fawn
You can find this free pet under the Pets category within the Crown Store, and it is available only during the event period for your platform—don’t miss out!
The Heroes Reforged Event begins for PC/Mac on Monday, March 8 at 10AM EST/3PM GMT, and it runs until Monday, March 22 at 10AM EDT/3PM BST. For Xbox One and PlayStation®4, the event starts Tuesday, March 16 at 10AM EDT/3PM BST, and it runs until Tuesday, March 30 at 10AM EDT/3PM BST.
