Laying down the groundwork to ensure that the game is modular and easily maintainable.
May 21 2022 Beta Update Notes:
- Right and left weapon activation now cascades during whirlwind. The intended effect is to make it easier to see what's going on by preventing the projectiles from instantiating on top of each other. - Level regeneration has been changed. You now must enter the desired path then walk onto the green circle to start the level. This is to generate only the path to be ran when desired. - A new room has been added into the level array for level generation(The Dock). - The gambler npc has been placed but is not currently active. Once available, spend large amounts of gold at this npc to acquire a random item of Epic Quality. - Adjusted railing in some areas to prevent the player from going out of bounds. - Frost Bolt should correctly apply increased Poise Damage - Adjusted water shader values and directional lighting to properly render the water.
Known Issues -
- The UI still needs work. - There is a known issue when managing inventory while using a controller. The cause of the bug is due to the equipment window and bag window being in separate panels. Merging these windows should improve controller compatibility. - Moving the mouse cursor or thumbstick in synergy to the rotation of whirlwind increases it's rotational speed thus increasing the number of hits you can land on a target by a significant amount potentially increasing the dps beyond the intended amount. This is somewhat intended to give melee builds an edge over ranged dps when in melee range but will clamp the torque to a degree to ensure the dps isn't out of control.
New Beta Branch, Small Fixes and Bow added.
We now have a beta branch! If you wanna try out some new changes before they hit the live build, feel free to head on over and give those changes a whirl before they hit the live build. Ground work continues on mob diversity including factions and personality profiles and I hope to show you guys some cool stuff momentarily.
May 15 2022 Small Update Notes:
- Spells will now stack in intensity per consecutive item held in inventory, ei, having 10 copies of the fireball spell should increase the damage of Fireball by 10x + current scaling with Spirit, or having 8 copies of Icebolt should increase the damage of icebolt by 8x + current scaling with Intelligence, subject to change. - The bow has been added to the game, magic, rare, and unique rolls coming soon. - Strength should correctly apply additional poise damage when attacking. - Agility should correctly apply itself when landing critical strikes.
May 12 2022 - Small Update - New Ability - Whirlwind
As I mentioned previously, I will be moving the items to a new custom suffix and prefix standard for item stats moving forward to help prevent items from copying stats from each other. The bad news is that resistances and stat bonuses are still unlinked but I will get to fixing that shortly. Weapons should still inflict their elemental bonuses but stats from items are not pooled.
- Fixed items stat merging. - Fixed large slime death glitch. - Fixed slime ranged instagibs. - Made the window for Dual Strikes slightly easier to perform. - Fixed projectiles going over the slime boss.
You can now use the Whirlwind ability. This is similar to Whirlwind as seen in other games such as Diablo and Path of Exile however we have our own unique twist. Whirlwind is baked into the core controls, consumes stamina instead of mana, and synergizes well with all spell objects thrown from weapons (try it with the fireball staff, you'll love it, or try it with dual wield shields to insta stun almost everything around you).
To perform Whirlwind, simply ensure that your character is sprinting before Dual Striking (pressing both the left and right attack buttons simultaneously). Your character will continue to spin as long as you have stamina and are holding all 3 buttons down. Be sure to invest into Endurance for a longer spin!
