As we reach the end of 2022, we're reminded how wonderful our community is. We've loved reading about your Eternal Cylinder dreams, seeing your fan art, and hearing your thoughts on the game. One of the frequent comments is how engaging the soundtrack is - especially when you're rolling for your life! As a thank you for the support on Steam, it's all yours. You can also share this amazing album with friends and spread Holiday cheer.
We hope this music makes your celebrations even more festive and reminds you of the game you love. Special thanks to the Composer and producer: Patricio Meneses - Austral Music for creating this digital work.
For those who got the game on console, there is a quality-of-life update coming your way tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Hi everyone! Patch #3 is now live, check out the details below.
Patch notes and fixes for Hot Fix 3 (aka Patch 3):
A progression bug that could manifest in several different ways is now fixed. The bug could cause non-progression at the end of chapter 2, and several barriers should have been red to present as blue instead, letting you pass through.
In addition to the original bug being fixed, existing save games that have been affected by the bug are also repaired, but for the repair process to occur correctly, you need to load your game, save manually, and then load again from that save. You only need to do this is you were unable to progress.
The green fog around certain plants in the tundra was made too bright by a change from Patch 2, this has now been corrected.
The volume of the sound effects for the Buddugh Gropp has been adjusted.
The game's custom Near Depth Of Field effect can now be turned off from the game's ini files. You can set r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0 in the [ConsoleVariables] section of Engine.ini
If you'd like to support the game and team, please consider leaving a positive review on Steam. Thanks for all the love!
Hi everyone! We continue to listen to your feedback and make improvements to the game. Huge thanks to you, our Community, who continue to share your experiences, talk about your fun adventures, and let us know your thoughts.
Patch notes and fixes for Hot Fix 2 (aka Patch 2):
The high-quality skylight has been reimplemented to have minimal overhead. The option to toggle it has been removed as there were no noticeable differences in performance during testing.
The game now falls back automatically to DirectX11 when DirectX12 is not available (note: this does not fix the startup crash on systems incompatible with FSR2.0)
If you'd like to support the game and team, please consider leaving a positive review on Steam. It means the world to us and helps others get an understanding of what The Eternal Cylinder world is like.
Hi everyone! Thanks for your warm welcome on Steam and for all your feedback! We are rolling out our Patch 1, here are its contents:
Patch notes and fixes for Hot Fix 1 (aka Patch 1):
Optimized Raytracing profiles configuration
Fixed crash when playing with PS4 and PS5 Controllers
Fixed Hand of Fate and Liberator destructibles popping out of scene.
Fixed potential loading of incorrect Elder Cave during progression.
Fixed mouse controls in Mutation Tree
Increased new creature spawn rate in Chapter 3.
Fixed some randomly spawning destructibles at coordinates 0,0,0
Gas bombs no longer kill the player so easily.
Demo progress now auto-rolls over. Please note: if you played the demo and beat the demo, and then didn't have your progress roll over/started a new file, your game will revert to your demo progress. To maintain your current progress, you will need to delete the SavedData_Steam.sav file from your local files and leave only the SavedData.sav.
Please Note:
We are still investigating the stuttering issue with the High-Quality Sky Light. Global illumination changed between Unreal 4.24 (old engine) and 4.27 (current). For the time being it is disabled by default.
We hope you'll enjoy the improved experience! If you want to reach out to us or discover more about the game, join us on Discord here!
Thank you all for your support!

The Eternal Cylinder Demo is Available until October 13th!
Hello everyone! It's a special week for our little Trebhum friends: as many of you already know, The Eternal Cylinder will release here on Steam October 13th, along with the much-awaited Anniversary Update! We have a lot of info to cover before the launch so let’s get started!
Demo:
We wanted to start this week by thanking you for all the love, questions, and feedback we've been receiving from the moment we published the Demo: in appreciation of your participation and the tens of thousands of hours that you've spent playing with us, we're happy to share that THE DEMO WILL BE AVAILABLE UNTIL THE RELEASE on October 13th!
Tech Update:
We’re thrilled that many of you love the enhanced graphic options that make this world even more stunning. Because the Anniversary Update includes options for 4k and Ray Tracing, we wanted to include some changes and info here you should know before launch.
Windows 7
Huge thank you to those who’ve been playing on Windows 7 and reporting the issues. We’ve added options to run the update on Direct X 11 and appraised all your feedback, crash logs and files. As Microsoft has not supported or updated this OS for more than two years, unfortunately, we can’t guarantee a positive experience on Windows 8.2 and older that reflects how we want you to enjoy The Eternal Cylinder with optimum levels of FPS and stability. As a result, we’re upping the minimum requirements to Windows 10 on Steam. For those who have been happily playing the game for a year on PC, you can continue to do so, but we don’t recommend updating to the free new content IF you have Windows 7.
FSR 2.0 is your key to great performance
Unreal Engine has made many improvements to how it does Ray Tracing and will continue to improve in later versions of Unreal. To help make the game run better with higher Ray Tracing options enabled, we added AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 during development.
This amazing new technology will work with NVIDIA and AMD cards and is used to boost performance on many other big game titles. This tech lightens your computer's load by rendering a smaller image and upscaling it.
This is a VERY IMPORTANT setting for your computer and should remain ON. We’ve seen significant FPS improvement in Ray Tracing and overall performance with it active. However, here’s a guide if you need to adjust this in Settings. Go to the Settings menu to the FSR2.0 slider, and make sure it's switched on. Beneath the FSR2 button is a slider for the "resolution scale." If the slider is to the right, there's a boost to performance and no detectable image loss. Moving the slider to left will boost your performance, but please note doing so may cause some image quality loss, as this is the tradeoff for excellent performance.
You do not need to have Ray Tracing to enjoy the game. We think it also looks spectacular, even with Ray Tracing Disabled!
Steam Deck
Because the Anniversary Update contains these updated graphics settings, we can’t recommend it for Steam Deck as it will likely not give you a smooth gameplay experience based on hardware limitations. We know that’s a bummer but we wanted to give you a heads up beforehand that it will likely not receive the “playable” rating.
Thank you
We thank everyone on Steam who’ve said such positive things about the Demo and the game. One of our favorites was: “In times where even the indie scene is drowning in mediocrity, games like Eternal Cylinder are a desperately needed breath of fresh air.” We wanted to make something unique and special for you all and hope you experience that for yourselves. Join us as we countdown to release on October 13th!
