Bugfixes


  • We fixed the player involuntarily sliding off of a checkpoint in level 8
  • Tractors and buses now have better GPS
  • Cops shall no longer be struck imperfectly by horseshoe damage
  • The rooster's force field now more accurately absorbs bombs
  • Level 8 damage to player has been untangled
  • We corrected anomalous visual behavior when dying to spikes
  • Owls now die as they should
  • We tidied up building shadows
  • Ropes will clip no more
  • Animation freezing in the final level has been fixed
  • Pizzas shall no longer be collectively killed by the horseshoe
  • The crushed animation now properly displays
  • Cutscene alignment has been enhanced
  • Cars will no longer clip at the edge of a cliff
  • Spikes now hurt as they should
  • We fixed not being able to throw the horseshoe diagonally with the d-pad
  • Glitch tossing horseshoes while hanging from a ledge has been banished
  • We improved animations with the Construction Worker boss

Bugfixes


  • Game lag glitch has been bucked
  • Languages now save and load as intended
  • We adjusted the horseshoe weapon hitting pizzas too early
  • Accessing the menu during a cutscene now works as it should
  • We corrected some menu alignment and menu transition imperfections
  • Defeat sequences for bosses 6 and 7 have been tidied
  • We neatened up alignment for certain horseshoe recall animations
  • Minor tractor display issues have been rectified

This patch includes The Final Horse as a free content expansion!

THE FINAL HORSE


  • You can now play with a horse head and a human body
  • All levels have been visually enhanced with friendly animals and farming equipment
  • All cutscenes have been mind-bendingly remixed with new recorded dialogue, sound effects, and trippy visual madness
  • New horse-themed sound effects and animations adorn the game like confetti
  • We have prepared a complex new psychedelic weapon
  • A new delightfully evil multi-stage boss has been unleashed
  • New optional miniboss battles have been tucked away in hidden locations
  • Two new difficulty settings have been added
  • Easy mode is an easier experience of the hard boss content from The Final Specimen with all of the new material also included

In early 2019, we will set loose a free expansion to The Final Specimen: Arrival hereby dubbed THE FINAL HORSE!

This will be a psychedelic remix of the original game. You will play as a person with a horse for a face on a very mysterious quest to solve the meaning of life.

    All of the primary content for the expansion is done. We just need to tighten up the saddle, and then we'll be ready to ride off into that neon green sunset to finally bring peace to all of the robots at once.

    Bugfixes



    • Level 4's crusher will no longer push you into the ground if you stand at the edge of it
    • We fixed a bug where floating bomb pickup items fell to the ground
    • Swings in levels 3 and 7 will now always move at a consistent speed
    • A level 7 boss bug that would prevent the boss fight from ending has been removed
    • Falling into a slime pit and getting hit by an anvil at the same time no longer freezes the controls
    • An issue with the level 4 boss's charge has been resolved

    • We will soon release a new playable character with some special surreal content as an enhancement to the whole game for free

    • All bosses on hard mode have had their difficulty upgraded with new content
    • Continues have been increased on hard mode from 3 to 5
    • Several bosses now more gracefully jump and land
    • Obstacle hitboxes on the final boss have been made more accurate


    Bugfixes



    • We fixed some enemies not counting towards punch and bomb counter achievements
    • Dropped bombs now correctly land without getting stuck
    • The rope at the beginning of level 6 will no longer cause problems with player movement
    • The boss music on level 4 will now cleanly loop
    • Bombs can no longer be thrown during cutscenes

    • The boss fight of level 6 now has added depth and difficulty
    • Thomas will no longer be able to easily hide from the boss's attacks because the safe zone on the rope has been removed
    • The boss will wind up before each hit to indicate where he will strike
    • When the boss is vulnerable to damage, his eyes will blink twice to allow time to react


    Audio



    • Volume levels have been tweaked across the entire game to create a more pleasant listening experience
    • Analog distortion has been eliminated by accounting for true peak clipping
    • Cutscenes are easier to hear
    • Loud sound effects now know their place

    • At the end of June, hard mode will see all boss fights updated with brand new mechanics

    • Checkpoints now autosave progress
    • Menus allow for easier navigation
    • Level 3 has clearer mechanics
    • "Press enter to skip" has been removed from cutscenes
    • Any assigned key or button now skips a cutscene
    • The title screen no longer shows a version number


    Bugfixes



    • We eliminated periodic screen tearing
    • Customized Keys now apply only to gameplay, not menu screens
    • Dropped bombs no longer get stuck in a chimney

    Saving progress

    We have gotten feedback that people would like the game to save their progress, so we are going to implement this in our first patch. People will be able to resume playing where they left off with the number of lives they had left. This keeps the game very arcade while still letting people experience it at their own pace.
