The Governor

New UI and Senate Implemented!

Hello, Governors! I worked on UI and especially with the new Senate system. Now you have three new resources and dead line for your time in the office. Every month You need to be convince the senate to keep your job.


Also I put information nearly everywhere. Hopefully this can help you to learn game dynamics especially for the economic actions. They are not crazy hard mechanics but not so simple as build and collect kind a system.



Inventory system is implemented. You can try items on your party. I already giving you items to try so have fun with them. Later on you will need to find and build for yourself. Currently buildings not working as they should be. when they do, you can produce raw materials, Build or recycle items, create local events, buy and sell items and mods.



My current aim is to finish map game play completely. I learned that working on 2 different mods simultaneously is very bad action. Sadly action combat mod will wait pretty long time. But at least you will have some solid section of the game when it's finished.



Currently I improve the game cleared some bugs but game not still not so enjoyable. Thanks for your support and interest.

Cabinet is Coming!



I manage to integrate the cabinet system. Now your progress will be monitored by the cabinet members and every month they will assess your progress according to your monthly targets. You need to pass the vote of confidence event.



You have 3 different currency now. Diplomacy,Defense and Economy. You can earn them from the buildings and events. You can use this currency to impress cabinet members, hire better citizens, get donations, Term extensions and yes, for Army Class items.



Before you get this things you need to debate with the person and you need to win, better diplomatic skills means higher chance to win the "Debate". Debate will be like your battle attacks, you can roll or you can play the mini game.



I was hoping to finish it this week but probably it's gonna take a while. Good part is I integrated the inventory system. Which is good for the Item creation. Item is the next stop. Some buildings will allow you to build custom items. I'm hoping that you gonna enjoy that. See you next week with the new update! I wish you a good day Governors.


What should I do next?

Every aspects of the game is needs improvement. It's fine but the priority is the real problem.


CABINET SYSTEM

Currently I'm creating the "Cabinet System" You will have one year term in your office and President, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of Treasury will monitor your progress. They can remove you from the office, if you fail the pass the Vote of Confidence in every month. Your score will reset after that.

After finishing your term you gonna get score for your progress and your actions. It will help me to build progression system for your Governor. I have an ambitious target to revolt against the Cabinet and fight with other States for maybe for your presidency. but it can be to hard for me to succeed. I hold my horses and continue to making small steps.




President
Only cares about the progress of the unification and your relations with the settlements. Also peaceful assimilation of Indian Tribe will greatly improve your relations with the President but can be tricky maintaining to improve SoD relations.

You can increase your monthly score with successful envoy events and with gifts
He will offer great diplomats, extend of the term duration.


Secretary of Defense
Mostly cares about removal of the bandit camps and Indian tribes.
You can increase your monthly score with successful defense events and giving conscript soldiers from your settlements. He will offer great warriors and army class equipment.

Secretary of Treasury
Only cares about how power of your economy and how many commercial buildings you have.
You can increase your monthly score with trade events and building new structures and upgrading buildings. He will offer great Merchants and Loans.

I'm hoping that this mechanic will add some progress and achievement feeling in to the game.



IMPROVED BATTLE MECHANICS

Traits
I'm planning to add "Traits" mechanics to make your citizens more interesting. probably it's gonna be like the Rim World, Crusader King and Divinity OS 2. I like give and take mechanics probably you can't make your character perfect but can make your character great for one job. exp; Honest trait will increase your bravery but lower your diplomacy score

I already implemented the Inventory and Item skills. They are not activated yet. I still searching and playing other games to find exceptional ideas. It's very hard to remove old version and implement the new mechanics. That's why I'm taking it slow.



AI is the most important question of the battle design. I read many articles and listened great designer's stories of the making the AI. Currently I have pretty basic AI system as you experienced it. I clone the common AI system, 3 types of AI for EVERY enemy in the game. which is boring but useful. Many great developer overpowering the AI for to hide this problem. X-Com, Divinity, etc. AI has better HP, Accuracy, Skill spawn ability and always more crowded if they are not overpowered. Also for our type of the game they have better positions.

Okay this creating the illusion of the victory. I love killing 30 AI with my 4 character. Defeating them against the impossible odds ( with 200 saves, yes it's you X-Com). Also this makes your game play very similar. You never use some abilities because they are not worth it. You starting to play same tactics over and over again.

I'm after something else I don't know how but I will make really balanced battles. 3 vs 3 with no overpowered items, force you to chance your tactics in every battle but keeping the fun without being the pain in the ass. Sounds ambitious right? I can fail on it nonetheless I will try.


UI AND IMPROVED GRAPHICS

My UI is somewhat useful but ugly I must say. Currently I have no money to improve this situation but I really want to do that. I'm trying to keep it user friendly and responsive.

I love my tiny people and my towns, they are really cute. I hope you are feeling the same though. I'm gonna add rain, fog and wind elements with more artistic light design. Especially in the map I want to add cloud and weather system with Day and Night cycle but as you can imagine I have many important things to make first.

New Governor Game Arrived! Try The New Style of Gameplay



Hi Governors, Game reached the Pre-Alpha status and upgraded drastically. You will play completely new game. Still there are bugs and game will constantly updated but it's the best time to steer the development. I'm hoping you to guide me to improvement and polishing process.

Currently there is only one map for your to fight but as you can imagine I will add many maps for you to enjoy. Main quest is not active now in the future you will need to unify the state in a year and while you are doing that, you need to maintain your relationship with the President and the Federation Army.


GAME STATUS


Game is in very playable condition but not finished yet. There are many implementations on the road but you can see the game's future after a two or there rounds. I try to mix the Paradox Crusader Kings map play with X- Com battle mechanics with western theme. As a sole developer I try to did my best and reached a certain acceptable status. I'm hoping to finish it in a 6 month.

GAME MECHANICS

Game has two different game modes. These are Turn Based Map Mode and Turn Based Battle Mode. Player starts with controlling the capital city of the state and player's main quest is making all liberated cities a part of the state as a Governor.


MAP MODE

In this mode player can interact with the settlements of the state. Player can build structures in non liberated settlements and give jobs to local population. Buildings are the main source of the income and employees will defend your settlement if need be.

Currently in map mode you can;

- interact with settlements and improve your relations with them
- use diplomatic and / or shady techniques to gain the settlement control
- improve your and employee's skills by working and making events,
- raid settlements, assassinations , rob or sabotage buildings, hunt bandits

These actions change the player's reputation and this player's reputation changes game's respond to the player.
Exp; Shady player gets more respect from shady settlements but if player is
controlling lawful settlements, this settlements may riot against the player.

You will be able to;
- Resolve disputes between settlements
- Create special items and build new settlements.
- Hire bounty hunters
- Use inventory system, You can change the weapons and armor of your
employees.




BATTLE MODE

The game system is pretty similar to X-Com and Mutant Zero. There are small touches exist though, such as Manual Aim and instant skill effect with stamina system. You can move or attack as long as you have enough stamina. Also accuracy and dodge system is pretty different from the other similar games.

Currently in this mode you can;
- Move, Dodge, Attack, Manuel Attack, Get Cover against the enemy parties.
- Fight against three types of AI ; Raider, Gunslinger, Sniper.

You will be able to;
- Use special items and different weapons
- Play in many different maps

New Map Gameplay

It's been a while, I worked on new map game play and new elements of the game. Map now 3d you can interact with your cities and villages. You can make diplomatic or spy actions on your federated settlements.

I changed the game a lot. You are head of the state now and you have 6 cities and villages to control. But you need to earn their trust with many actions to control them. There will be many diplomatic, spy actions to make that happen. Settlements gonna need your help to resolve the disputes with other towns.



I kept the morality and this gonna change in the game according to your actions. You can turn in to a mobster by raiding your villages, organizing robberies and assassinate your rivals. This actions gonna have consequences and their own rewards.



You have citizens now and you will need their help along the way. You will use them in many missions for a cost of course. Battles gonna be 3 vs 3 traditional turn base style with permadeath like X-com.



You can build many buildings in your settlements and can give jobs to your citizens. Citizen quality will increase or lower your building productivity. As you can see there are many new talents and they effects the result of the events directly.

Example, When you want to rob a building you need to roll scouting and smart against the settlement's security building if you fail you need to battle against the security forces first.
After that you will fight against the target building's employee's. That makes crucial to select right citizen for the right job.



Experience system now based on job and event based. Your employees and you will gain experience from the occupation and your quest decisions. If you fight you will gain fire arms XP if you make diplomatic quest you will gain diplomacy xp like Fall out style.

New Map and City Mechanics



Map and Management

Hi Governors, I started to build the location system. Ex one is very dull and more like a click and play style. Now you will gonna have map with mountains,rivers, Sea etc. All those gonna be in a interactive and 3d map. I'm trying to make the map like CIV series. If you have played before you know the drill. Land types will be very important for your buildings.



HERO AND LEVEL SYSTEM

While you are expanding your city you will defend them from bandits and Natives. This battles gonna be like Might and magic series. You will have hero and you will hunt them on the map.
While you are traveling you will need to rest and be careful. Some areas gonna create random events. Sometimes good sometimes dangerous one.

Other than your Governor you can hire HERO from the tavern as long as you can afford them, This heros can lead Max 2 people at a time and can travel on the map. They can't level up but they can wear items. Also they will have 3 special abilities which they can use while adventuring. Also they will have Class like Scout,Ranger,Ex Officer,etc. This classes very important when you send them to quests.



I really enjoy the battle mechanics and if I can manage to implement these that's gonna be great! I'll let you know when it's getting better. As always I have to return to work, there is much to do. Thanks for following and buying this game. I hope I will impress you with the new improvements.

New Battle Mechanics Preview

Hi Governors, It's been a while since I started to rebuild the game. I worked a lot and changed many dynamics and game play. You can watch the changes from here. [previewyoutube="jtCI5WulJN0;full"]

What changed?

Skills are permanent and you can upgrade them when you level up. you can lower their penalties or increase their boosts. ( Dash,Move,Aim,Multiple Attack,Etc)

Weapons now only adding damage types,effects( poison,Stun,Drain life,etc) and ability boosts (Dexterity,Stamina and Strenght)

You can move and dodge in real time. Also you can get cover if a place available or near to you.

Weapons have Targeting Range and your accuracy changes according to your weapon type and your skills.

Rifle has penalty in close range but has increased accuracy when target is far.

AI has 3 arc types, Sniper (Rifle), Gunslinger(Pistol) and Raider( Shotgun).
AI has Idle and Patrol Mode, that means you can ambush them.

New Battle Mechanics

It's time to move to the next phase. I saw that I failed to create what I want to create. All players felt battle mechanics has very "luck" based. It wasn't my aim so I need to change it. I'm gonna keep my base Idea you will act simultaneously with the enemy. I have some Ideas in my mind.


I started to build new mechanics. It's gonna be semi "X-com" style and I plan to add many game play mechanics like; cover , area movement and reflex actions. I want to make battles more fun and tactical.

Other thing I failed is Enemy classes... Real life style enemies didn't worked. I'll stick on
archenemy classes like chess, Diablo, X-com etc. I'm gonna share my game play build from here time to try. You can try and if you can give your opinions I'll be glad.

I'm not sure anyone one is addicted and has long game plays but try not to attached your save games because new update gonna destroy all your save games etc. Also as you can imagine EA time gonna be extended. Anyway thanks for your support and interest about this game.

UPDATE 1.60 NEW CONTENTS



Hey Governors, as I mentioned before your new update is ready. I implemented quest and patrol system. Quests have multiple endings so try to be adventurous to see other endings. All working great and it's right time to try it!

Keep in mind that you need to PATROL the region to find quests. Don't expect to find them without a hard work! Don't forget it's just the beginning of better things.



Version 1.6 Change Log

Enemies are more dangerous.
Rewards and item drop rates increased a lot!
Items are cheaper now! You can try different skills and armors right away.



Every action has a reaction. Rule with justice or fear, it is all your choice but be aware of the consequences. Region events are activated. Also, you can rip the benefits of your respect. Remember that every alignment has it's own perks.

Our new and big update is coming soon. Making stories takes a lots of time. That's why all regions not finished yet but I wanted to hear and see your feelings about them before I continue to develop.
Patrol events fully integrated to TOWN CENTER you can play this area as finished one.
I will add all quests to your "mission board" so you can try and see the style.
You can also get them by playing patrol events.
As you know I implemented the "Condition" that means you will get tired!



I noticed that Items very expensive and you couldn't tried a lots of skills because of it. I will reduce the price of the items!

Also quests gonna give more rewards. Especially items and Diamonds
Anyway If you want me to add or change something let's talk about it!
