The IOTA Project Patch Notes [and Farewell]

Hello, all!

We've recently updated The IOTA Project according to the feedback we've received over the past few months, as well as revamping our art assets and redesigning much of the city.

Here are the changes we've made!

ROOMSCALE ROTATION: now one of the locomotion options allows you to control your rotation with your head/body. This was the #1 piece of feedback we received - we've made it happen.

ART POLISH: R4N-D and the Drones have been made brighter, IOTA's arms have been made more rugged/worn, the roads and sand were redesigned. Overall the city has much more polish and detail.

CITY REDESIGN: The entire city has been redesigned and condensed to include much more detail.

REVAMPED TUTORIAL AREA: The tutorial starting area has been redesigned based on feedback we got from taking the game to conventions and events.

SPAWN RATES: Enemy Spawn Rate is increased, along with the more condensed city layout it should be difficult to avoid enemies.

WEAPONS: Rocket Launcher rate of fire is increased, power is decreased.

ABILITIES: Rocket Barrage ability now homes in on enemy foes.

AUDIO: Music adapts to enemy threat level and we've updated sound effects and audio implementation.

ITEMS: Health pick-ups now respawn around the city.

BUILDINGS: Buildings now take more damage before they're destroyed.

Unfortunately, this will be our final update on The IOTA Project. It will remain free, but there will be no further developments so consider this it's final form.

Thank you all for the support you've shown us along the way. Seeing people jazzed for what we were building gave us so much inspiration. Creating a virtual reality giant robot game that fulfills our childhood dream of piloting a mech has been, well, a dream. We watched every YouTube video made of someone playing The IOTA Project, and read every review. Seeing people react so positively to what we were creating was a feeling none of us will forget! So, again, thank you for your support.

Obviously there are aspects we wish we could develop further, and bugs we wish we could fix, but we're proud of where we are leaving off. We hope you enjoy rampaging around as the pilot of a giant mech. Don't cause too much havoc! (Who am I kidding, cause all the havoc you want ;) )

Come Meet the Devs in Person!

We're demoing at two events this weekend, although we will only be physically present at one of them.

The first is Worlds Fair Nano in NYC (Greenpoint, Brooklyn) this weekend. We will have a few members of the team manning the booth with an Oculus and a Vive, as well as our crazy green LIV cube so we can capture mixed reality video of folks playing. If you're in New York, come say hi!

The second is GameOn in Vilnius, Lithuania - also this weekend. Unfortunately we can't be there in person (would be so cool to visit Lithuania!) but if you are attending that event and see The IOTA Project there, would love for you to send us a photo of our little mech-baby traveling the world! We're so proud.

We are planning to attend more events in the upcoming months, so stay tuned ;)

The IOTA Project Demo is Now Live!

We are happy to announce that The IOTA Project Demo is officially live and playable here on Steam! We're been working on TIP for about 4.5 months now. We wanted to create a "pre-alpha demo" or playable teaser trailer with our core gameplay mechanics that gives players a slice of the potential of our game.

We're passionate about making a mech game as we're all really just a bunch of anime nerds who really want to pilot a giant robot. But we want it to feel right. We want the melee combat to feel crisp. We want the special abilities to be satisfying and dramatic. So please give us feedback and we'll be working to bring you a much grander experience down the road!

The IOTA Project is playable in arcades all around the world, we're working on having a map of where it is available for those who don't have VR headsets at home to find a location they can play.

All that being said, we hope you enjoy busting up some bots with your giant robot fists! Go forth and decimate!
