The Land of Crows

"The Land of Crows" will become F2P soon.

Hello Adventure Gamers!

"The Land of Crows" is an indie experiment, the very first game I have ever completed, if there's anything sure about it, it is the fact, that it is not a perfect game. As an after-hour experiment, developed almost every day after work, for 3 years, it was never meant to be a marvel or a cash-grab (brrr, I shiver on the very thought...well, maybe my 10th game, if I will ever make 10 games, will be, who knows? ;) joking). No. no, the truth is someone convinced me to release it for a price because they thought it was worth it - so I did. Truth be told, I got magnificent feedback, for all its faults, and people who played it were quite passionate about it and sent me some warm words in return. What's the greatest reward for me is the fact that people played it, and, if I am to believe what they said (and I do, since the adventure gamers are very self-aware, and they perfectly know what they want), never felt they are wasting time. And since the game is earning but a few dollars, why should I continue taking those few dollars from all those passionate folks, when I can give it to them for free? Maybe more people will want to play the Jan's adventure then? I would certainly hope so!

That being said, if you consider buying it, I'd advise you to wait for some time -I'll make this one free to play as soon as Steam allows me to (we need to do it by the numbers and I need to follow the procedure, after which it will become free of charge)

I must admit that doing so also will free me from some taxation headache (where I live the taxation procedures discourage from even "buy me a beer" model..one needs to pay some operational costs and other things that are sometimes greater than revenues, but what pains me the most is ...the paperwork - going free will release me from a lot of it..).

Another thing is I am a lone dev, and I certainly tested the game I could best, but it seems some bugs might still be there. I did my best to fix whatever bug was found, but there still might be some, lingering in the code like a behemoth of old in the Kuyavian marshlands. And that's yet another reason that added to my decision of making this game free.

With that announcement, I wish you fun with gaming out there!

1.0.5

Thanks to suggestions from my wonderful players I improved several things:

  • Fixed some typos.
  • Removed the items causing problems after traversing to the last scene (items that were actually only confusing players at this stage).
  • Added a short conversations about the key and cross in the church.
  • Added an immediate traversal to the hut after dealing with the "obstacle" - this should save some unnecessary walking.
  • Replaced some dialogue with a better suited one (map interactions while dealing with the "obstacle" e.g.).
  • Trying to feed various animals will now have the appropriate response.

1.0.4

Yet some more fixes - this time for "off-screen traversal" chapel problem. Some more collider reinforcements were added.
I know, two patches in a very short time isn't the best practice (apologies!), but what I want is the best possible experience this game may offer for players.

Salutations!
