The Last Leviathan

Early Access Update v0.1.1 (Build 104)

Hello everyone! Look ^^ new store image!

First off a MASSIVE WELCOME to all the new players we've had over the last couple of days and a further THANK YOU to all you 'older' players :)

We've been out a week and can confidently say we've been overwhelmed by the response and creativity of you guys! We have over 900 ships of all shapes and sizes already in the workshop, and a lot of those are just sheer genius!

OK onto the main point of the announcement, we've had our heads down since the last update as a number of you reported issues to us through the HUB - THANK YOU!
So we've fixed a bunch of those in order to make the game work better, hopefully we've caught enough in this update to be able to get cracking on the bigger task of a content update in earnest... here's the list:

Early Access V0.1.1 (Build 104) Full Changelog:

- CTRL key added as delete modifier to work around left shift issue
- Changed version number to match the new build scheme
- Added more tolerance of exceptions being thrown when loading data.
- When a ship is deleted, don't clear/reset the current ship in the ship creator, but treat it as an unnamed ship.
- Add a "Update Thumbnail" button to the ship creator to allow players to get a picture of their ship that they are happy with. This can only be used if you've saved the ship.
- Added camera sound.
- Added user messages for data that fails to load.
- Made the save process "safer".
- Bug Fix: If a GUI panel is displayed, don't allow the arrow keys to move the ship around in the building bounding box.
- Copy block now requires you to use both CTRL and Middle Mouse button in the ship creator as middle mouse also pans the camera.
- Updated the Keys panel.
- Speeded up the time taken to transfer from 3rd person camera into FPS mode.

Let us know if you get any big issues with this build and if not, we can get cracking on some cool new content :)

DevLog #7 Launch Week Hype and Upcoming Fixes!

Happy Friday everyone!

This week has been crazy! As you know, The Last Leviathan released this wednesday, and we are so overwhelmed by all of you who purchased our game and have been playing it so far! Many of you have also been submitting your ship designs to the Workshop, and sharing your designs with others, which is awesome! We surely love seeing what creative and unique designs the community creates. It is also great to see so many Youtubers and livestreamers featuring TLL in their videos/streams!
As some of you may know, we’ve also been running a competition event these last few days. There have been many submissions, and we can honestly say, that we NEVER expected you guys to make it look so easy! Currently, the first place record is 17 SECONDS! However you all have until July 4th to submit your runs, so there is still plenty of time!

Instead of showing off what was done this week, since we’ve been mostly focused on launch, instead this week we’d like to showcase some of the fixes and features that are coming up in our next build!

  • A fix for the camera being upside down in lower graphical settings

Lastly, we'd like to showcase a couple of workshop items we think are quite brilliant!

First off, DESSERTMANIA created the first Pixel-art creation in TLL...Megaman!

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=708916177

Secondly, Orange took advantage of a little bug we have currently with triangular sails, and made a flying ship!

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=709072050

Nataliee_Chan made a cute looking stubby ship!

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=708822219

And finally, here is a really beautiful traditional-looking ship made by eNtaK!

So look forward to a new build coming next week! Thanks for all your support so far!

We are all VERY excited to finally be able to make TLL available for you all to purchase and play.

I would love to direct you all once again, to our various social media websites, where you can further discuss TLL And report any bugs you may come across:

  • Steam Community Discussions: http://steamcommunity.com/app/489460/discussions/

  • Our Subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheLastLeviathan/

Actual Devlog:
This week has been the busiest overall for us, and there are SO many changes that I can’t list every single one, but here is an overview of most of the changes done this week:

  • Steam Workshop functionality was added, allowing ships to be both uploaded and downloaded with ease

  • The front-end has had a complete visual upgrade with some scene brightness tweaks, and gamemodes and options that are not implemented yet are now greyed off, or have a “coming soon” banner.

  • Preview icons were added for ALL blocks that had missing or incorrect ones.

  • Block textures were updated to reflect the 3 different power levels of most blocks. Low power blocks are all dirty and grimy!

  • Added 3 intro screens to the game, including a note from us, the developers, written by Rik and yours truly. :)

  • MANY tweaks to the ship-builder UI were done, properly showing block counter, power level of your ship, and more.

  • Configured and added animations for the triple-cannon, making it shoot up to 3 rounds a second!

  • Added a couple screens where you can view controls for either the ship builder, or sailing and fighting.

  • Added a bunch of new props to the sandbox scene

  • Updated the tips, and added a few new ones

  • Created a few bugs, reported said bugs, and then squashed them. :P

  • Plus loads and loads of little tweaks and fixes to make the experience as good we as can

So as you can see we’ve been VERY busy, working our butts off to make sure the build you all will be able to play on Wednesday is a stable, and enjoyable one! We really hope you enjoy it, and any and all feedback is appreciated!

Thanks, and see you in-game on wednesday! (fingers crossed)
