- Fixed the issue that CPU usage stays at 100% while playing. - The game now can start without using Steam launcher.
Patch Release Announcement (12/23)
The issue preventing players from obtaining rewards by linking system data as well as cleared game data from Sen no Kiseki I: Kai, Sen no Kiseki II: Kai, and Sen no Kiseki III has been fixed.
Regarding Slow Loading and Choppiness in Some Scenes
If the game loads unusually slowly or if some scenes are choppy, the culprit may be the shader cache* generated by the GPU driver. Clearing the cache may resolve this issue. If not, try disabling the shader cache.
*The shader cache is operated by the GPU driver, so it cannot be controlled from within programs, such as Sen no Kiseki IV. You will need to clear and/or configure the following settings specific to your hardware.
■NVIDIA GPUs (GeForce, etc.) The shader cache is stored in the following folder: C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache Please delete the files in this folder.
To disable the shader cache, right-click on the Windows desktop, open the NVIDIA Control Panel, and under Manage 3D Settings, turn Shader Cache to Off.
■AMD GPUs (Radeon, etc.) You can delete or disable the shader cache by right-clicking on the Windows desktop and selecting AMD Radeon Software. To delete the shader cache, refer to Reset Shader Cache on the following page: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh2-012
To disable the shader cache, refer to Shader Cache on the following page: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh-012
■Intel GPUs (HD Graphics, Iris, etc.) The shader cache is stored in the following folder: C:\ProgramData\Intel\ShaderCache Please delete the files in this folder.
If you cannot see the contents of the ProgramData folder, check View -> Hidden Files in the Explorer menu.
■DirectX Shader Cache In addition to deleting the GPU shader cache above, please also try deleting the DirectX shader cache. Right-click [Local Disk (C:)] in Explorer and select [Properties]. Click [Disk Cleanup (D)] in the [General] tab of the Properties dialog. If [DirectX Shader Cache] is not [0 bytes] on the right side, uncheck the other boxes, check [DirectX Shader Cache] only, and click [OK]. Click [Delete Files] when the Are you sure you want to delete these files? confirmation dialog appears.
If you are using Discord at the same time, the following settings may be affected. Click the gear icon at the bottom of the screen and go to User Preferences and try the following: ・Click on [Audio/Video] and turn off [H.264 Hardware Acceleration] in the settings section. ・Click [Overlay] and turn off [Enable Overlay in Game] in the settings section.
If the above does not help, please also see the information provided here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1562940/view/2942527343050480630
The effectiveness of the shader cache depends on your PC configuration, but if you have a high performance CPU and plenty of memory, disabling it may improve performance. Also, even on the same PC, the status of the shader cache changes depending on the history of the games you have played, so the occurrence of problems may vary depending on the games you play.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope you continue to enjoy playing The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki IV -THE END OF SAGA-.

Patch 1.2 Release Notes
Hi everyone,
we have fixed some reported bugs and also introduced two new features requested by fans. Here is a list of changes:
Fix a potential crash issue in very specific situations with some combinations of camera angles and field of view options
Fix some more minor translation and typography issues
New Feature Add an option to disable the motion blur effect while running
New Feature Add the ability to select a specific target refresh rate in the launcher, instead of always defaulting to the highest available
Improve crash dump generation to enable us to provide better support; crash dumps are stored in the windows temporary files folder ("%TEMP%/ToCS4") so as not to permanently occupy storage space
While we expect this patch to improve the situations for all users, with the great variety of hardware and software configurations available on PC this is not always guaranteed in all circumstances. As such, you can return to previous versions of the game by selecting the any of the public "version_*" branches on Steam.
Patch 1.1.1 Release Notes
Hi everyone,
while it is great to hear that yesterday's 1.1 patch improved the game experience for a lot of people, it also introduced an audio regression for some. Also, the feature to disable dynamic button prompts was not fully working as expected.
This version 1.1.1 Hotfix should resolve these issues. Here is a list of changes since 1.1:
Rewrite audio backend processing to eliminate artifacts and further improve performance.
Fix the "disable dynamic button prompt" feature not actually solving the performance issues it was designed to solve.
While we expect this patch to improve the situations for all users, with the great variety of hardware and software configurations available on PC this is not always guaranteed in all circumstances (as we saw with 1.1). As such, you can return to the release version of the game by selecting the public "version_102" branch in Steam, and to 1.1 by selecting the "version_110" branch.
Patch 1.1 Release Notes
Hi everyone,
Hopefully you are enjoying Trails of Cold Steel IV! We have created a new version which fixes various issues pointed out by the community. Here is a list of changes:
Reduce the CPU usage of several threads, particularly in audio playback. These changes can greatly reduce overall CPU usage in some situations.
Introduce additional caching to decrease load times, especially when revisiting previous maps and after battles. This will be particularly effective for longer play sessions.
Fix save game thumbnails sporadically not showing up under specific circumstances.
Adjust overall loading behavior to be closer to Trails of Cold Steel 3, in order to mitigate issues on some systems.
Prevent the game from taking abnormally long to close on some systems.
Make left joystick and WASD (or alternative mapping) behavior consistent across all menus.
Fix button re-mapping involving X and O buttons along with displayed button prompts.
Fix some remaining minor translation issues in game and launcher
New Feature Add configuration tool option to disable dynamic button prompt switching (primarily for Steam Controller users)
While we expect this patch to improve the situations for all users, with the great variety of hardware and software configurations available on PC this is not always guaranteed in all circumstances. As such, you can return to the release version of the game by selecting the public "version_102" branch in Steam.
