Dear Steam supporters!

Thanks for your support of The Legends of Owlia. At this point, we have decided to take Owlia down off of Steam and release a free NES ROM of the game, instead. This should enable you to play the game in any way you like on any device you like, configured as you like.

Here is a link to the ROM file, which you may use and distribute as you please.

If you have a saved game, please write down your password! IT WILL WORK WITH THE ROM!!

There are several reasons we are doing this.

1. It's Christmas.

2. This is a hobby of pure love and joy for us, we are not in it for money. We'd rather have more people playing our game on as many devices as possible.

3. We want to focus on our current NES title.

4. Maintaining the emulator which wraps our game has become too cumbersome, and this emulator will not be able to support our new NES game! (We're getting better at NES coding!)

Finally if you follow us @gradualgames on Twitter, we'll be releasing a free rom of our other title, Nomolos: Storming the CATsle as well.

Please note the Steam version of Owlia will be gone from the store and deactivated fairly soon.

Full controller support now pushed
Full controller support and menu improvements have now been pushed. The game should autoconfigure XBOX 360 controllers so that the BACK button brings up the config menu. The left shoulder button will now act as the SELECT button (in-game) by default. Retrousb adapters continue to be auto-configured however you can only access the configuration menu with a keyboard in this case, due to fewer buttons being available for mappings.

If you have a controller similar to the XBOX 360 controller which you'd like to see the game auto-configure, please find log.txt in the local files directory of The Legends of Owlia and paste the contents in a comment. There will be a listing of your connected controllers and I should be able to add them for future builds.

Full controller support coming tonight
Due to excellent feedback received early in release, we're going to push a build tonight which has the following improvements:

-Xbox 360 controllers will now be fully supported including for the configuration menu. SELECT will now be mapped by default to the LEFT SHOULDER button. The BACK button will now launch the configuration menu. Now you can play Owlia from your couch if you have a Steam box.

-The configuration menu has been improved and clarified. RESET is now called RETURN TO TITLE and you will be prompted within that same menu option for easy access by the xbox 360 controller. SAVE AND EXIT is now called SAVE GAME AND EXIT, to clarify what it means. Finally, EXIT MENU has been added for dismissing the menu, but you can still use the ESC key or the BACK button on xbox 360 controllers.
