If you had downloaded the demo build when it was first released and, for some mysterious reason, kept it installed after completing it, you probably noticed Steam patching the game almost every single day since then.
Well, that was basically me being a questionable developer and changing stuff I didn't like without providing patch notes...
It's time to come clean!
Here's a passive-aggressive list of all the changes I can remember since the very first demo release:
- New introductory area, that acts as a basic controls tutorial and provides a bit of backstory/lore
- Redone the full-body walking animations to look overall less stiff/shitty
- Redone the crouched hands animation to look less early-2000s-first-person-RPG-y, although they still kinda do and i like it that way!
- Several optimizations to textures, volumetric lighting, shaders and code, which should result in slightly better performance and less memory footprint on older hardware
- Several camera code tweaks to avoid it clipping into the body
- Several micro updates to the introductory area cutscenes to make them more immersiveTM
- Several sneaky visual updates to all the areas, to guide the eye to what's important or provide better overall pacing
- Increased the duration of tutorial messages a stupid amount of times, since players still managed to miss them and then blamed me for not explaining core game mechanics (tsk!)
- Lowered the 'combined' sound volume 'cause some people had an heart attack the first time they heard it
- Several corections to texst and inventtory items descryptions
- Some fixes to a couple of bugs that luckily nobody found (including my precious useless testers)
- Main menu has audio now (GOTY)
- Replaced the radio asset in the twisted room 'cause fuck it, why not.
Thank you for your patience.
