I am preparing a small update for Halloween

I am preparing a small update for Halloween - bug fixes and some new content. I will be regularly uploading updates to a beta branch so you can check them out faster (and help me test them as well). There are no groundbreaking new things, but some annoyances are being fixed and some new stuff will be added.
The new content is for 64bit windows only. If anyone using Mac/Linux/Win32 wants to access the beta, please let me know in the comments and I will also update the version you are using.
To start using the beta branch you need to:
1. right click Madness of Little Emma in your Steam library.
2. switch to last tab ('betas')
3. input special code 'kakaojestdobre'
4. click 'check code'
I do my best to verify every update, but since it is a beta branch I am little more lenient with checking it, so there might be some new bugs, some broken rooms, etc. Around Halloween all the changes will be moved to default branch, so everyone will get them.
Current patch notes for beta branch are:
-fixed a bug with an item not unlocking and making it impossible to complete full collection. To unlock the item you need to kill ML with Chloe.
-paper towel got buffed and you can float much further now. Now it works how it should have worked in the beginning
-raven no longer eats bomb friend
-super doll (the one that is combined from others) buffed - dmg x4 and much better accuracy (bigger hit box for laser)
-you no longer get multiple zeppelins spawn in secrets on some levels
-fixed shop music not being played in some heart shops
-a bunch of new rooms for refuge/den.
Please let me know if anything that is written in the beta patch notes is not working.
If you are aware of any other major bugs that are out there or have some QoL suggestions feel free to post them in the comments section.

New mini game mode - Arena (unlocked by beating Manless Face) I don't plan to do much balancing specific around arena, this is more of a little quirky mode to play just for kicks from time to time
New unlockable charachter Chloe (unlocked by beating Arena)
9 new items (unlockables for Arena for every character + unlockables for Chloe)

rubber duck no longer blows ghosts away from the screen
Feather Monster no longer bugs out with toy plane and baseball glove
fixed wrong image for rudder
fixed a bunch of minor bugs in room generation
vorpal blade now properly doesn't work in boss rooms
added some missing sounds(like big doll doing 'bleargh' when shooting)
Emma doesn't produce a pain sound when picking up items after robbing a heart shop anymore
stroboscope doesn't go infinite when leaving room with it turned on
fixed music not playing properly in some shops
fixed music volume balance a bit
fixed midas touch not affecting golden chests
fixed wedding band not letting you into the riddle in some cases
balance changes
raven visually grows indefinitely now depending on how many followers he eats, finally a good use for those huge flocks of doves!

Miracle room no longer generates the same item twice
If there is an entrance to Space on a level, there is a quite big chance to find Zeppelin in a secret (so characters other than Elizabeth can access it more often)
added glowing golden chests (they are quite rare and contain multiple power herbs)
Little spoiler and explanation on how Chloe works:
Chloe doesn't have health. Whenever she gets hurt, her damage goes down a little (semipermanently) and she dies if it is reduced to 0. Whenever she picks up an item which would normally increase the number of heart containers (candies, red herbs, etc), she gets a permanent bonus to damage and she restores all damage that she lost from geting hurt, she gains more bonus damage if she wasn't hurt at all recently. Items which reduce the number of heart containers have no negative effect anymore (mushrooms, blood razor and so on).
She is immune to spikes and starts with 20 damage.
In Arena after beating every wave, 3 pickups/items appear and you can choose one of them. After clearing a whole level there are 3 groups of drops instead (each containing 3 pickups/items) and you get to choose one of those groups. Golden herbs no longer heal in arena.

I have uploaded a small update a few days ago fixing a number of minor issues and one major issue ('infinite love burrow').
Atm I am working on my second game, which should be released somewhere in november + a mid-sized update for The Madness Of Little Emma for Halloween (ETD: first of November), which is planned to have:
-a new playable character - Chloe
-a new mini-game mode - 'Arena'
-a bunch of new monsters, rooms and items

1.6 patch notes

1.6 is live. I have started working on a new project so the updates will be smaller in scope then previously, but Emma is not dead and I will throw in something new every month.
-all standard bosses have alternate colour version now (most of them are more difficult than ordinary), I did not have much time to playtest it, so if you find some of them too difficult let me know and I might consider tuning them down in a small update next week,
-alternate colour bosses will also appear for those who have only unlocked ending 1 (but with significantly lower chance), the probability noticeably goes up if you have unlocked ending 2,
-fixed a bunch of speeling mistakes,
-Elizabeth can also float up using left controller stick,
-moved dare button a little bit leftwards (so you don't fall on it if you press 'down' too long when entering the room from upper one)
-if you have Love Letter, you can access Love Burrow from The Riddle
-a bunch of new rooms and minor balance changes
Ladder will be reset next month, I think bimonthly resets will feel a little bit better, let me know if you disagree:).

1.5 Update is here!

Another huge update is here! The most important stuff:
Elite monsters! Monsters randomly will get some cool modifiers which give them new attacks and abilites - they get much more common after you have beaten endings 1 and 2
Hundreds of new room layouts
2 new special room types
LOTS of overall polishing, tidying up, smoothing out rough edges
4 completely new monsters, 10 alternate versions of already existing monsters with new attacks and abilites, 5 alternate versions of already existing bosses
smoothed out difficulty curve! Emma should be noticeably easier if you haven't unlocked ending 1. End game (Riddle+Answer) got noticeably more diffcult - you can no longer consider the game won after you finish False End
Multiple people have requested this and now you can change your cursor icon in main menu if you find the default one not distinct enough (atm there are 3 versions to select from)

1.4 is out.
NEW STUFF
10 new hidden small side areas - some spoilers at the end
new unlockable character - Marah /unlocked by beating all forms of Spirit
3 new items (unlocks for Marah) +fix for 2 items which were here already but it was impossible to unlock them (sorry!)
Press 'R' to select random character when starting a game
Several new special room types
2 new bosses (they were planned for 1.3, but I didn't manage to finish them back then)
new secret difficult way to end the game - no new cutscenes, but a new game ending fight+ lots of ladder points if completed:^
30 new achievements
overall polishing in multiple places
ladder reset
leaderboard on the right from main menu shows top 100 instead of top 10 (the list cycles every few seconds)
FIXED STUFF
Fruit machine no longer messes up when Valentine is randomly selected (actually Valentine won't show there ever, but even if it did, it would be fine this time;))
Fruit Machine+Hourglass no longer crashes the game
spikes don't get covered in blood from spitting at them and items falling on them
bubble gum balloon has a cap on how often it can fire (~10 times per second max), so it won't freeze the game in some unfortunate cases
shopkeeper has a cap on how often he can fire
looped sounds (like little sorrows crying in Misery) should no longer bug out and never stop
love letter no longer messes up Siblings appearing in The Answer
April's shield gets destroyed together with her
rainbow herb no longer changes your health by half a heart, it is full heart up or down now (or not changed at all)
House no longer makes you invulnerable sometimes
Magnet no longer attracts items in shops
Dusty Crown no longer messes up traveling between False End and The Riddle
Amphetamine increases madness properly
rocket from toy fighter and rocket aims better now
Elizabeth doesn't float up/down when close to the floor (so Figurine/House/etc work for her now)
Chests price gets zeroed properly when robbing a shop
Items from red chest after boss fight should no longer stuck one in another
Items from red chest after boss fight should no longer make other items in the room vanish (for example after clearing Love Burrow)
You can use keyboard/gamepad to select all unlocked characters (it didn't work if you had a locked character inbetween)
BALANCE CHANGES
Turnips always drop good herbs after destroying them (golden/red/blue/rainbow)
Elizabeth is much easier to unlock now - she is unlocked after dying 5 times
Baseball Glove gives 2 bombs on pickup now
Bubbles/Balloons from soap/sponge/etc cannot be popped by player now
Hanged girls give less madness if Prozac is not unlocked (=easier for new players)
Amphetamine has stronger effect now
Remote Baby Head - costs 0 to use, bigger cooldown, higher damage
Golden Key no longer opens chests in the shop
I want to spend next month polishing the game, fixing the bugs and optimizing some rough places. You can expect some minor new content next month, but I don't think it will be as big as this one. After 1.5 is finished I want to make at least one more big update with new content (1.6).
SOME SPOILERS FOR NEW AREAS
<*>Beehive can be accessed if you destroy swarm or hive without being hit more than once
<*>Doctor's Black Market can be accessed if you have at least 50 coins in a shop and have not killed a shopkeeper before
<*>Crypt can be accessed from a secret chest in Sepulcher (it's not guaranteed to spawn)

1.3.2 patch notes

This a small patch fixing/balancing some stuff. I probably won't upload anything new until mid-april big patch (eta: 14.04). 1.3.2 will be available later on today, I'm uploading it right now and need to do some testing afterwards before going live.
Patch notes:
-you can rebind controller mappings in a config file (instructions at the end)
-added new, pretty rare, herb type
-fixed some of enemy explosions proccing on-explosion items (cannister, toxic bombs, etc)
-chests can spawn in shops for "buying"
-coin gun buffed, now it costs like one third of what it did previously. I will probably rework this item in the long run, but atm it is just a big plain buff, since it was probably the worst item in the game.
-toxol/happil don't use plain text to show their effects anymore (but those hp up hp down short animations)
-fixed teleports being displayed incorrectly (they used to cover hud for example) and Emma is no longer hidden behind them
-heater deals like 35% more damage
-spring boots and pogo added sound effects
-herbs after killing boss are affected by magnet
-toy car sound effect added
-items found in secrets are correctly placed in the middle of the small hole
-pixel candy gives you full health containers instead of empty,
-mascara colours the spit which is enhanced by the item
-magical wand added sound effect
-twin herbs biig nerf, now there is a 50% chance to proc the effect when collecting a herb, I still think it might be too strong, but I hope it won't auto-win a run anymore
-toy fighter now deals correct damage (fixed boss instakill with rockets)
At the moment I'm working on new stuff for mid-april patch, which will also be pretty big and it will containt stuff like:
-~10 new special room types
-~10 new hidden side levels (sort of like love burrow, but much smaller)
-new playable character
-other minor gameplay and qol changes
Rebinding controllers:
ATM this is sort-of half of solution and I plan to add graphical user interface to this in mid-may patch, but you can rebind the mappings if you want to. There is a new file in the steam game folder "controller", this is just a plain text file with default setting. If you leave it or delete it, the game will use previous, default settings, but you can edit it however you like:
for example a line
jump=4
means using button '4' will proc a jump
You can check which button is which and which axis is which using http://html5gamepad.com/
The last line:
controller=-1
Describes which controller the game will use - if it is -1 the game will autoscan for controller and will use the first one that it finds, you can experiment with it, if you have any problems with controller not being detected.
Some of the players have reported problems with gamepads in ArchLinux. I don't know much about Linuxes but some investigation showed that the controller works MUCH better with xboxdrv drivers instead of the default ones.
