Slow enemy projectiles in mid-air with the TimeSaber. Remember, the "time field" extends from the blade-edge of the TimeSaber, so you must weild it properly to slow the projectiles down.
Mission 4 is the only Mission in the game with the TimeSaber, but there are some other weapons for you to experience in the full game.
I haven't decided for sure, but the demo may only be downloadable for a limited time.
Body Tracking with Vive Trackers
You can now enable body tracking in The Path of Greatest Resistance! For best results, use 3 Vive Trackers in addition to your controllers. If you only have 2 Vive Trackers, you can just have it track your feet without hip tracking. You can activate the body tracking version of the game through the Steam DLC interface (it's free to people who've purchased the game).
To try it out, strap two Vive Trackers to the top of your shoes, and attach one on your back attached to your belt.

Jog-in-Place Locomotion
When The Path of Greatest Resistance first came out, it had a "jog-in-place" locomotion mode--but the jogging locomotion was calculated by the bobbing motion of the headset.
Now, with body tracking enabled, you can move forward just by stepping up and down with your feet.
Foot Tracking and the future of VR Locomotion
In The Path of Greatest Resistance, you only move straight forward along the path. But I imagine that some games in the future could use feet tracking and walking in place to give you full 360 degree movement.
Over the past couple of years, many people have pondered different ways to solve the VR locomotion problem. Is locomotion based on foot tracking going to be a common thing in future? I'm not really sure yet. The version here is just one implementation, and it's not necessarily the "perfect" implementation of foot-step locomotion. It's possible that in the future we'll have games with algorithms that are able to more naturally translate body movement into forward locomotion. If you try it, feel free to let me know if you like it or hate it!
Jogging is Optional
You don't need to play in "Jog in Place Mode" to use the body tracking. You can still play in normal mode if you want a less physically intense experience.
Engine Update
The Path of Greatest Resistance has now been updated to Unreal Engine 4.15. Along with the engine upgrade comes some changes that are probably not noticeable to the average player, as well as a new feature that's currently "hidden"--but will soon be revealed and accessible at no extra charge through the Steam DLC system.
Try the Virtual Arms
This week I added virtual arms. They're disabled by default, but they can be enabled in the "Game Options" menu.
They won't perfectly match your real life arms, but I think having some form of bodily presence can help increase the feeling of immersion. Turning the arms on may add some extra load to your CPU and graphics card.
[Note: you can't really tell from the GIF, but there is an area between the sleeve and glove that is still "invisible" even with the arms on]
Deflect!
UPDATE: Mission 5 is in the main branch now, as well as Mission 6. Mission 6 gives you "MagneGuns" that can "magnetically" pull in robots and launch them. Check it out!
(Remember, if you want to play the later missions without beating the earlier ones.., you can unlock them by choosing "Game Options" from the main menu, then choosing "Cheating Options" and then choosing to unlock all the missions.)
Deflect plasma bolts in an early version of mission 5. Try it out by switching to the beta branch of The Path of Greatest Resistance.
To install the beta version, right click on "The Path of Greatest Resistance" in your steam library, and choose "Properties." Click the "Betas" tab in the window that opens, and select "thepathofgreatestresistance_beta" from the drop down menu. That should download an update for you that lets you try it out when you play mission 5.
Oculus Touch compatibility
The Path of Greatest Resistance should be compatible with the Oculus Rift with Touch controllers now. It has compatibility through SteamVR. But I want to hear from you all and let me know if it works or if you have any problems.
If you try it on Oculus Touch, it would be great if you left me a comment below about how it works for you :) If you experience a problem, don't feel bad about taking a refund.
(Post updated 1/19/17)
Walking on a treadmill with a VR headset on. Dangerous? Stupid? Well, today I added it as an experimental movement mode
Have you ever had a VR experience where you just wanted to keep walking beyond the bounds of your room? I added a "Treadmill" movement mode so that people who own a regular exercise treadmill can use it with VR! (Note that this is not about "omni-directional treadmills" like the the Virtuix Omni or the KatWalk.)
But even if you can use a treadmill like this--do you really want to? I don't know if it's worth it, but it's now an option!
Be careful though. It can be dangerous, because it's easy to become disoriented and fall. Brave VR enthusiasts should do this at their own risk.

UPDATE: I made a few changes to the treadmill movement mode since the first day it was released. I properly calculated "incline," I made it so that in treadmill mode you don't slow in the game when you die, and I made a menu that shows you arrows to help you reset the center when you're setting the treadmill up.
Gigantic enemy added to "Mission 3"
Did you think that you had already encountered the full power of the Machine Alliance? If so, I'm afraid you're mistaken.
It appears that the machines are now capable of engineering organic life, and there is now a giant monster that you'll encounter along the way to the energy core in "Mission 3."
Yesterday I uploaded a build with a giant troll near stage 5 in "Mission 3." I also shortened Mission 3 a bit so that it will hopefully not be overwhelmingly difficult for people. It would be great if you guys try it out and let me know what you think! (If you just want to play Mission 3 without beating Mission 2, you can unlock it in "Game Options" -> "Cheating Options")
Also, for those who haven't seen yet: In August I added barriers along some parts of the path that robots crouch behind, as well as some other tweaks.
As a general reminder for those who find the game too difficult: in "normal" movement mode you can take cover from enemy fire by crouching down in your metal transport.
New: the Crossbow and the ShieldGun. Feedback appreciated!
I've released a new "Intro Mission" to play before "Mission 1." This intro mission has a new twist--it gives the player a new weapon, the crossbow; and a new defensive tool, the ShieldGun. The new mission is shorter and easier than Mission 1. I had gotten feedback about the game's difficulty, and I want to help ease people into the game and give them a sense of accomplishment when they're just getting started.
I'd really like to hear feedback about the Intro Mission--if you have problems with it, let me know. If you like it just the way it is, that would also be great to hear, so I can know if you feel that I'm making good choices.
Thank you again to everyone who supported me by buying this game!
New experimental mission. New weapon: The TimeSaber
Thank you so much to everyone who bought my game so soon after the Early Access release!
One piece of feedback that I have heard more than once is that people want to dodge or block the incoming enemy projectiles. In Mission 2, you were given a power sword with a force-field that merely blocked enemy projectiles. Now, in the new experimental mission, the TimeSaber lets you dodge and block.
The TimeSaber is a sword that has a force field in front of it that slows down enemy fire. Aim the blade so that enemy projectiles come into the force field, and you will see the projectiles slow down. You can then dodge the projectiles or destroy them in the air by striking them with the TimeSaber.
This experimental mission is listed at the bottom of the mission list, after Mission 3. (For those who may not have played the game yet, the "missions" follow the same basic semi-procedural template, and at least for now, the biggest difference between the missions is which two weapons you are given.)
