Valentine's Day Update - Special Abilities, Perks, Weapons, New Police, and More!
Thank you all for joining me today to celebrate this massive new update for The Pillage - Version 2.0.0!
The World
The gamespace now has depth. AI will appear at random depths on the sidewalk. This makes killing crowds feel so much more pleasing.
Removed the parallax effect on buildings. Taking it out all together hugely increased the FPS.
Buildings now have randomized textures to them, making the world feel more fleshed out and immersive
added static occasional static buildings back to the game
AI
New enemy: shield police. These police spawn as the game progresses. They are currently the only enemy in the game with 4 hearts (3 for the shield, plus 1 for the character).
Angels now have an improved health bar.
Weapons
Weapons now have specified damage rather than every power attacking dealing 3 damage. This creates more balance and adds for more options in the power attack category.
New fast attack weapons: Sickle, Bonesaw, and Pocketknife. The old Pocketknife was replaced with the Shiv.
New power attack weapons: Pitchfork, Trident, and Scythe.
The Pitchfork and Trident can one-hit shield police.
Weapons are now only available at certain levels to give the game better progression.
Special Abilities
Added new special abilities, which are unlocked through the achievements like perks.
Four special abilities have been added: Sidekick, Rage, Unkindness, and Vitreous.
When purchased, these can be activated by pressing (S) or (DOWN ARROW).
Performance
Added the setting to disable blood particles to increase performance.
Perks
Added the perk 'Out of the Park' which doubles knockback on enemies that don't die in one hit.
Added the perk 'Special' which reduces the time for special abilities to cool down from 30 seconds to 25.
Added a new perks menu.
Other
New stat tracking that compares total kills to the population of every country in the real world.
Redesigned the user interface to not look so ancient.
Kill counts are far more accurate than before.
An amazing new soundtrack by Inamic.
A load of bug fixes.
Prepare For a Massive Update
Valentine's Day 2019 is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than playing The Pillage!
The new update, among many other things, will include many new weapons, a much more immersive world, significantly less lag, a new enemy, special abilities, and new perks.
Along with this massive update, the game will be moving to a one-time pay-to-play system. As the game has increased in quality, it has such increased in value. With the release of the new update, the game will be moving to $0.99 USD.
I have full intention to hold my promise that this update will be the biggest update and thus the biggest improvement to the game so far. All of the money that is made from this game will be put back into it after the initial overhead has been covered. I hope to continue to provide the community with masses of additional content in the future and moving this game to paid will allow this to happen much quicker and far better.
August 14th Update: HarvestSword- The Newest Weapon, New Tutorial, Lots of Random Improvements
The title says a lot, but here's what's changed:
There's a new power swing weapon: The HarvestSword
This weapon is unlocked with "The Third Milestone" achivement. It's biggest strength is in its speed, only slowing you down 40% making it the lightest power swing weapon. It comes in two colors, iron and a brownish bone color.
There's also a new tutorial. To be honest, the old tutorial was easily overlooked and really was just awful, so I made a new. The new tutorial can be accessed by starting a new save game or through the options menu.
Now you can also change the volume before the initial setup/tutorials are over. Really it should have been an option long ago.
A lot of other little changes were made that make the game overall better, but they really aren't worth noting here.
August 11th Update - A much requested feature!
You guys kept asking for it, so I added the option to have secondary attack binded to the right mouse (or R, because there's someone who's playing with the keyboard only controls).
I also adjusted some of the user interface stuff
Also made the Hellhammer's existence more obvoius.
I'm going to be working on more updates soon, and actually posting about the updates now that steam is letting me!
