The Real Texas

Five Years In Strange - The Real Texas 5 Year Anniversary Sale

Hey Everyone!

It's hard to believe but The Real Texas was out five years ago last week. I'm still incredibly proud of it; I can't really put it words how fulfilling it is to hear from people who enjoyed it in the past or are still discovering it now.

To celebrate, I'm putting it on sale:

  • The Real Texas is 55% off
  • Cellpop Goes Out At Night (which is about one year old now) is 11% off
  • The Dusty Skies Edition (includes both games) discount stacks with this, too!

I don't do this too often, and this is the cheapest it's been (or will be) in a long time, so if you are curious-- now's a good time to scoop it up! Or, if you've already visited Strange, tell your pardners if you think it's up their alley.

To everyone who has played it and enjoyed it over the years-- a sincere thank you from this cowboy right here!

Calvin

P.S.: O yeah... remember it's never too late to leave a Steam review and say what you think!

In other news, I absolutely have not forgotten about the 1.7 update. I worked a bit on it yesterday. This will be a bugfix update that also improves compatibility on Linux, and in particular fixes some achievements.

It's been on the back-burner for a few weeks now as I've been working intensely on Paradise Never. But I'd like to wrap 1.7 up soon so I don't have it sitting there in the back of my mind, taunting me :) Stay tuned!

As always, thanks for your support!

Version 1.6 Update (Mac and Windows); Linux version soon

Hooray! I've released a patch, called version 1.6, this evening.

It fixes a fairly bad crash bug that would have happened to everyone after a long enough play session.

Incredibly sorry about this, especially everyone who lost progress in the game.. Losing progress is a major bummer and something I work hard to avoid.

Other changes include:

  • Game now auto-saves when moving between areas
  • Gameplay bugfix for Cellpop
  • Sound engine updated (internal fix only; game should sound the same)

Linux version will be up soon; I was hoping this week but I spent more time working on key redeeming than I anticipated so haven't had time to ge this sorted out.

But the game runs happily in 32 and 64 bit flavours of Linux-- it's coming! One or two outstanding issues, but I'm still going to try and get it up this week, but it might have to wait until next week.

The Real Texas (and Cellpop) on RPS

Brendan Caldwell over at RPS posted a news story on the release:

The Real Texas Gets “Mini-Sequel” And Steam Release - Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Cool! Really made my morning. :)

I've sent out review copies to a number of sites-- it would be amazing to see Cellpop reviewed. I didn't send press releases or otherwise announce the game until it was out, so it may be a little while before (and if) it's able to be reviewed by any sites.

I'll post reviews (good and bad) as they come in. Meanwhile it's nice to see the game getting some press!
