Just over one year later...
Hello, It's been 1 year since you guys have heard from me. I apologize for that but a lot of stuff has happened in my personal life. aside from that The River is undergoing a complete revamp of its game play and mechanics on how the game is played and the background stuff no one sees. to make a better play experience all around for you guys. I hope to have a teaser video out for you on or before the 1st of January, 2022.

Silent Progression
Well Hello, It's been a while since you guys have heard directly from me. Josh the owner and creator of The River, I would just like to say thank you to all of you who have taken the time to either play the game or at least look at the games page. I have been working on another update and this update will bring bug fixes more than it will new content but I will attempt to push a little of that in there too for you guys!. during the week I only have about 2 hours of free time to work on the game before I have to put my little one to bed and then so myself. On the weekends I try to work late into the night to get progress made. The next update may take a month or so (holidays and all that) but I promise you that when this update drops you are going to want to play it and see what it has to offer this time!.

Hello there!

Dev Hunter here wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving! We all have a lot to be thankful for, but ourselves at Mad Scientist Studios would like formally say "Thank you!" to all of you! We are extremely grateful for all of your support in our project! Amid the holiday festivities, we wanted to update you and let you know our "Massive Update" is on schedule! Massive Update Coming Soon!!

Hello everyone!

 Mad Scientist Studios Dev Hunter here. We are excited to tell you that a MASSIVE UPDATE is in the works! This update is going to add a lot of content! We are planning on releasing said update in around 2 weeks time, so be sure to keep checking back regularly for updates! We should be streaming the progress as well so check in on Twitch for that!

Content Update
This weeks update brings some additional content for level 1. There is now a memory and a key to find. When the memory isn't found, you can come back to the level to search again. We've also made various bug fixes and QOL improvements you can see listed below. As always, let us know what you are thinking of the game so far and what you would like to see implemented by commenting on this post or in our discord.


  • Added Memory to level 1
  • Added another scare
  • Added key to escape level 1
  • Lowered volume of thunder
  • Added link to main menu to learn about PTSD
  • Replaced doors in level 1 house with regular interior doors

New Update!!
Hey guys!! Nothing super spectacular to bring to you today, just fixing a few small bugs and errors to make the game more enjoyable for all of you! Again, be sure to hop in the discord or comment on here what your thinking of the beta so far and let us know what else you want to see! Can't wait to hear from you all.


  • Fixed grammar and spelling errors in "The Beginning" level".
  • Changed delay of UI between PTSD message and Dev Thank You message from 5 to 10 seconds.
  • Changed some UI positioning to make it look better.
  • Edited some lines of text for better flow.

New Beta Release!!

Hello there!

Your favorite dev Hunter here yet again, how is everyone enjoying the new beta?? The team was super excited to get this pushed out to you and we really hope your enjoying it.
