Hi everyone,
Today I'm announcing a new upcoming puzzle-adventure game I've been making called Discolored! You can head over to the Steam page to check out the trailer and to wishlist the game!
Below is a FAQ about the game:
What is Discolored about? The story is as follows:
You arrive at the end of a desert highway where a small abandoned cafe sits and a strange tower looms overhead. As you look around you notice everything has lost its color. All objects that once held vibrant lush tones of color are now a pale grey. What has caused the all the rich colors to disappear? How can they be brought back? As you explore, solve inventive puzzles, and uncover clues that restore the world back to its true colors, you’ll discover this strange place at the end of an abandoned highway has deeper secrets to be revealed.
When will it be released? Most likely the 2nd quarter of 2019.
Is Discolored a sequel to The Search?
Discolored is not a sequel to The Search, but there are some similarities. Discolored will still feature beautiful atmospheric scenery and a similar "feel" that The Search had. The style for Discolored is very minimal, which is inspired by the painters John Register and Edward Hopper.
What will gameplay be like?
Discolored's gameplay will be using FPS controls with real-time 3D graphics, similar to modern adventure games like The Witness and Obduction, not a point-and-click with pre-rendered graphics as The Search was. Pre-rendered point-and-click games are a bit more time consuming on the art side of things which is one of the main reasons I chose to go this route, but fear not, you can expect the same quality in Discolored as you found in The Search and the puzzles actually have more variety in Discolored compared with The Search! The total gameplay time will probably clock in at around an hour or so.
Like with The Search, Discolored is being developed on my own and in my spare time. I love making these games and I thank you for your support!
If you like what you see please feel free to spread the word and please consider wishlisting the game. It would be a big help since Steam uses wishlist numbers, as well as other things, to determine what kind of visibility a game gets upon launch.
To stay up to date with news on Discolored you can click on the "follow" button on the game's Steam page or sign up for the newsletter through the game's website.
I would love to hear your thoughts and if you have any questions please ask in the comments section. Thanks so much!
Jason
