Tuned: Base Game - Bones’ Gore Bomb Radius

  • Bones Gore Bomb trigger radius is being reduced to match the trigger radius he launched with

Tuned: Base Game - Nancy’s ‘Hurt ‘Em’ Perk

  • The following has been added, “increases the damage dealt to a Victim caught in barbed wire if they continue to run while the barbed wire is attached to them”
  • There will be 1 HP loss per second for 5/15/30 seconds and the timer starts the moment the barbed wire has been triggered

Fixed: Base Game - Hands’ Barge and Attributes

  • Blood collected from Hands’ barge attack was not properly scaling with attribute points allocated to Blood Harvesting
  • Stamina drain after using Hands’ barge attack was also not scaling properly with attribute points allocated to Endurance

Fixed: Base Game - Hands’ Barge

  • We have fixed a bug where after using his Barge, Hands’ stamina would not regenerate as intended

Fixed: Base Game - Connie Star Sign Ability

  • A bug has been resolved that prevented players from immediately progressing the lock picking minigame when activating Connie’s Star Sign Ability

Fixed: Base Game - Grandpa Sonar during Close Encounters

  • Victims were not being properly highlighted to other players when grappling during a Grandpa Sonar

Fixed: Base Game - Leatherface Exploit

  • We have resolved an exploit that allowed players to overhead run in place as Leatherface
    • Leatherface is designed to move forward when sprinting with his chainsaw above his head and will now function as intended

Fixed: Base Game - Leatherface Overhead Slam

  • We have fixed an issue where Leatherface’s overhead slam was not registering properly when Victims would interact with traversals or other objects

Fixed: Base Game - Lockpicking Minigame

  • Lockpicking minigame was able to be progressed without holding the correct alignment in place

Fixed: Base Game - Cook Padlock Progress Reset

  • Progress on a Cook padlock that had been removed and replaced was not correctly resetting

Fixed: Base Game - Sissy, Victims, and Poisoned Items

  • We fixed the issue that caused Victims to not be highlighted after using poisoned health items, Fuses, Valves, and tools if Sissy has ‘Poison Pickup Locations’ equipped

Fixed: Base Game - Danny Bypassing Hands’ Electric Trap

  • When placed on an object that could be inspected, Danny was able to bypass Hands’ Electric Trap and inspect the object successfully

Fixed: Base Game - Matches Ending

  • The issue that caused players to have endless games if the final Victim disconnects has been fixed

Fixed: Base Game - Next Match, Wrong Queues

  • Players will no longer be sent to the wrong queues when they play consecutive matches

Fixed: Base Game - Native Party Invites

  • Accepting a native party invite after a player hits ‘play’ immediately after accepting the invitation will now work

Fixed: Base Game - Close Encounter UI

  • We have made improvements to the flash UI present when in a Close Encounter and flashes will now light up properly with each press

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Clear Eyes’ Highlighting Poisoned Water Pumps

  • Water Pumps that had been poisoned by Sissy were not highlighted as intended for Victims with ‘Clear Eyes’ equipped

Fixed: Base Game - ‘High Tolerance’ Perk

  • The perk ‘High Tolerance’ will now adjust the highlight duration to poison duration to match the perk description, “Sissy’s poison isn’t as effective on you. Duration is 20%, 40%, 60% shorter.”

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Knock Knock’ Perk

  • The perk ‘Knock Knock’ will now be functional on The Mill

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Deadbolt’ Perk

  • An issue has been resolved where the Perk ‘Deadbolt’ was not applying correctly when attempting to barge latched doors

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Fight and Flight’ Perk

  • We have resolved an issue where the perk ‘Fight and Flight’ was activating during a Close Encounter win animation and the Victim player was not able to move

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Back For Blood’ Perk

  • We have fixed a bug for the perk ‘Back For Blood’ as it was not properly decreasing the Family Bond as intended

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Master Key’ Perk

  • The perk ‘Master Key’ has been fixed as it was giving players infinite charges
  • The charges at Levels 1-2-3 will be 3/4/5 just as the perk description reads

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Hey Sissy’ Perk

  • A bug has been fixed with the ‘Hey Sissy’ perk where it properly activates only after Nancy interacts with a Mortar table and uses her ‘Spy’ ability

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Rescue Medic’ Perk

  • An issue has been resolved for the perk ‘Rescue Medic’ where it was not applying the proper additional healing that was intended

Fixed: Base Game - ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’ Perk

  • The team has fixed a bug where the perk ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’ activates in the proper intended scenarios

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Spring Clean’ Perk Equipped on Hands

  • A bug has been resolved where Hands' stamina consumption wasn’t reduced when his Barge attack was used when the ‘Spring Clean’ perk was equipped

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Blood Runner’ Perk Equipped on Hands

  • We have fixed an issue where the perk ‘Blood Runner’ would not activate correctly when it was equipped on Hands while performing a Barge attack

Fixed: Base Game - Nancy’s Traps and Gore Bombs

  • The team has fixed a bug where players couldn’t disarm Nancy’s Barbwired Traps if they were placed on a door that was destroyed by Bones’ Gore Bombs

Fixed: Base Game - Poison Inconsistencies

  • We’ve fixed an issue where poison would not affect Victims consistently when interacting with poisoned generators and car batteries

Fixed: Base Game - Bones’ Gore Bomb Placement

  • While Bones isn’t able to place Gore Bombs directly on the Escape Zones, we have fixed a collision issue where he is not blocked from placing them on the assets near the Escape Zones

Fixed: Base Game - Wyatt’s ‘Knife Throw Interaction’ Ability Upgrade

  • Wyatt’s ability upgrade will now let him disarm Nancy’s barbed wire traps

Fixed: Base Game - Nancy’s Garage Audio

  • Players will now be able to hear Leatherface’s chainsaw audio from outside of Nancy’s garage

Fixed: Base Game - Skipping Overheat Slam Attacks

  • Victims will no longer be able to skip a knockdown animation after Leatherface hits them with an overheat slam attack

Fixed: Base Game - Parties and Wrong Lobbies

  • Players in parties will no longer be separated and placed in different lobbies when playing consecutive matches and will all go to the same lobby together

Fixed: Base Game - Nancy’s Traps

  • We fixed the issue that prevented Nancy’s traps from being disarmed when placed on a door destroyed by Leatherface

Fixed: Base Game - Gaps on Mill

  • Family members will no longer be able to attack Victims if they are on the other side of a gaps

  • Sissy will now be able to poison the health item that spawns in the Silos area

  • We have fixed a UI bug where Johnny would receive two button prompts to barge a door, only one button prompt will appear as intended

Fixed: Base Game - Hands’ Barge Button Input

  • The button input for Hands’ Barge was incorrect for preset 2
  • We also fixed the incorrect labeling of his barge when choosing preset 2 for controller mapping on PC

Fixed: Base Game - Flooded Area on Graveyard

  • We have adjusted the water speed of the flooded area on the Graveyard map to look more natural

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Removed Map Selection Option

  • We have removed the UI for map selection in lobby as there is only one map option for players

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Fear Meter

  • Calling the police via the car radio was not properly decreasing the Fear meter for Sorority Girls

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Door Latched Prompt

  • A crossed out ‘door latched’ prompt has been removed that would display when players approached an unlatchable door

Fixed: Museum Mode - Title Crash

  • We have resolved title crashes that would occur in the following situations
    • Accepting an invite while in the Museum Mode loading screen
    • Opening and closing other game modes before entering Museum Mode
    • Immediately returning to the main menu after opening Museum Mode

Fixed: Private Matches - Title Crash

  • Players would experience a title crash as the host if a non-host player repeatedly pressed the select map prompt after concluding a match

Fixed: Private Matches - Disabling Character Abilities

  • Objects would still be highlighted for Danny when character abilities were disabled by the host of a private match despite him being unable to investigate or tamper them

Fixed: Private Matches - Opposing Team Perk Effects

  • Perk effects will no longer be visible to opposing team players

Fixed: Private Matches - Nancy’s Barbed Wire Visibility

  • When the host player is Nancy, their barbed wire will now be visible to all players as intended

Fixed: Private Matches - Well Camera Clipping

  • We’ve fixed visual camera clipping that would occur when Victims jumped through wells

Fixed: Private Matches - ‘Noise Pollution’ Perk

  • The perk ‘Noise Pollution’ will no longer activate for the private match host as intended

An Update on the Future of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, DLC, and What's Next

Just a couple of years ago, if you sat down and asked anyone here at Gun Interactive what would be a dream project for them… you’d hear them say The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. A pivotal film for any horror lover – innovative, indie, and artistic – Gun brings that same spirit to making games. Being able to see The Texas Chain Saw Massacre get into the hands of players is one of the proudest accomplishments we’ve had as a studio.

We feel proud of the game we’ve made and we’re happy that we’re at a point where we feel The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has reached its full potential. From the very beginning, we’ve always had a clear and concise vision for this game. We wanted to push the envelope on multiplayer asymmetrical horror, shed light on this iconic film to a newer generation, and place folks into the beautiful but macabre world of Muerto County and we feel we have achieved that.

For instance, telling the story of Maria Flores and her friends while bringing horror icons into the franchise like Kane Hodder, Barbara Crampton, Scout Taylor Compton, and Skeet Ulrich was incredibly rewarding and important to us. While creating something new, we still sought to honor the 1974 film authentically, working from Kim Henkel’s character bible as well as bringing back franchise favorites Bill Mosely and Ed Neal. And at this point, we feel that we have seen The Texas Chain Saw Massacre fully realized.

With that being said, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will not be receiving any further future content or support. This means that there will be no more DLC, balance updates, or bug fixes, after our upcoming May patch. You can still expect a few more patches in the future in order to transition towards peer-to-peer matchmaking. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will still be playable and is NOT being delisted from store fronts. Our community team will continue to interact with our players as we continue to celebrate The Texas Chain Saw Massacre with all of you who love this game just as much as we do.

As a creative studio, it’s imperative to communicate that we’ve seen this vision through to the natural creative end. We are a scrappy group of horror heads and artists continuously working on bringing cinematic experiences to you all. We appreciate the folks who understand the vision we are bringing to the asymmetrical multiplayer horror space because let’s face it, it may not be for everyone. But those who get it, those who have widened their gaming circles to play The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, those who have reveled in the terror, horror, and beauty of this world with their friends keep us motivated and ready to continue to do what we do best… make your favorite horror games. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Our March 20th, 2025 patch notes features bug fixes, the release of both Sunday Best and Denim Outfit Packs, and more.

Our March patch will start rolling out across consoles and PC at roughly 8AM EST on Thursday, March 20th. This patch includes the release of the Sunday Best and Denim Outfit Pack, both of which are included in the Content Pass.

Players who have a Content Pass will automatically unlock Sunday Best and the Denim Outfit Pack. For non-Content Pass holders, the packs are $4.99 USD each.

Sonny Outfit Pack III will also be available for purchase for $4.99 USD.

  • The blast damage radius for Bones’ Gore Bombs has been increased

  • The team has made further adjustments to the ensure that traversal options are prioritized over item pick ups

  • A bug was fixed for close encounters in private matches where the host player would win a grapple in situations that they should’ve lost

Fixed: Base Game - Wyatt ‘Awareness Team’ Ability Upgrade

  • A bug impacting the ‘Awareness Team’ upgrade has been fixed where Family Members hit by Wyatt's knives would not be highlighted for all Victims

Fixed: Base Game - Wyatt Knives Interacting with Hands’ Ripstall

  • An issue was present where Wyatt could turn off the generator during Hands’ Ripstall minigame and would sometimes result in:
    • Players being unable to interact with the generator for the remainder of the match
    • Wyatt was able to throw another knife to receive XP for turning off the generator when it was already turned off
  • This issue has been fixed and Wyatt can no longer interact with the generator during Hands’ Ripstall minigame

Fixed: Base Game - Wyatt’s Knife Bypassing Electric Traps

  • We have fixed a bug where Wyatt’s Throwing Knives would disable an Electric Trap and turn off the Generator or Battery in a single knife throw
  • It will now take one Throwing Knife to disable an Electric Trap and one Throwing Knife to turn off an objective

Fixed: Base Game - Bone Charm Collision with Wyatt Knives

  • Our team has fixed an issue where Wyatt’s Knives were being blocked by collision from a specific type of bone charm

Fixed: Base Game - Wyatt Star Sign Ability during Escape Cinematic

  • We have fixed Wyatt being able to use his ability while escaping, which would result in sliding movement and a visible crosshair during spectating

Fixed: Base Game - Bypassing Animations

  • We fixed the bug that allowed Family players to bypass the animations for setting traps, closing doors and locking doors

Fixed: Base Game - Hands’ Barge Animation

  • Hands players were able to skip his successful barge animation if they performed interactions such as collecting blood, ripstalling, hooking up electric traps, etc

Fixed: Base Game - Family Animations

  • We fixed the bug where when a Family member would walk through the valve exit, the Family member would get stuck in their walking animations for a brief period of time

Fixed: Base Game - Native Invites

  • We have fixed the issue where the native invite prompt did not always show up for PS5 players in custom lobbies

Fixed: Base Game - Leatherface’s Overhead Slam

  • The team has fixed the issue that caused Leatherface’s overhead slam attack to not register if a Victim was traversing crawlspaces, stabbing Grandpa, or interacting with the valve

  • An issue has been resolved where Hands’ initial barge attack would not function as intended, resulting in the player becoming softlocked

Fixed: Base Game - ‘No Sell’ and Hands’ Barge

  • We have fixed a bug where the perk ‘No Sell’ was not using charges properly when getting barged by Hands

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Protective Aura’ Perk

  • The team has fixed the issue where the perk ‘Protective Aura’ did not reduce damage when a victim was pulled out of a hiding spot

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Rally Leader’ Perk

  • Fixed the perk ‘Rally Leader’ which was only functioning for the perk holder instead of all Victims per its description, “Help all Victims recover from being incapacitated more quickly. Recovery is 15/25/35 % faster.”

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Fish Hooks’ Perk

  • ‘Fish Hooks’ was not working as intended at Level 2 and Level 3 and will now work as described, “Sneak attacks decrease Family’s max stamina for a limited amount of time. Max stamina is reduced by 50/65/75% for 10/20/30 seconds.”

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Slippery’ Perk

  • ‘Slippery’ is now fixed so that the perk activates after a player finishes traversing through a gap

Fixed: Base Game - Danny Knows Engines

  • We have fixed a bug where the ‘I Know Engines’ Perk wouldn’t activate within the proper ranges when equipped on Danny

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Swinging For the Fences’ on Bones

  • An issue has been fixed with the Grandpa Perk ‘Swinging For the Fences’ where it was not applying to Bones when the perk was active

Fixed: Base Game - Virginia’s SFX

  • We have fixed the bug where the SFX for Virginia contaminating a blood bucket continued if she canceled out of the interaction

Fixed: Base Game - Johnny’s Footprint Tracking

  • The bug that caused Johnny’s footprint tracking to remain active if he was electrocuted on the cattle grid is now fixed

Fixed: Base Game - Disappearing Health Potions

  • We have fixed the bug that caused poisoned health potions to completely disappear from the map if it was swapped out for another item

Fixed: Base Game - Minigame UI Disappearing

  • The team has fixed the issue that caused the minigame UI for toolbox gathering, lockpicking, bone pile gathering, turning on the generator, and solving the fusebox to disappear if done after winning a grapple

  • We have fixed the bug that caused the lockpicking minigame to wiggle rapidly when trying to complete it

Fixed: Base Game - Victims Permanently Highlighted

  • Victims becoming permanently highlighted after Grandpa is immobilized for a second time by Wyatt’s Star Sign Ability has been resolved
  • We have also fixed more instances where Victims would become permanently highlighted after being caught by Grandpa’s Sonar

Fixed: Base Game - Gore Bombs Crashing

  • We’ve resolved an issue in public and private matches where players were experiencing title crashes when Bones and at least 3 Victims were hit by the same Gore Bomb

Fixed: Base Game - Rain Effects Inside Containers - Slaughterhouse - Storm

  • Instances where rain effects were present on props inside of the containers on Slaughterhouse - Storm has been fixed

Fixed: Base Game - Wyatt Portrait Resolution

  • We’ve fixed an issue where Wyatt’s portrait would sometimes appear low in resolution when viewed via the Customization tab

Fixed: Base Game - Hitchhiker Chestburster Execution FPS

  • We have made improvements to decrease FPS drops during Hitchhikers Chestburster Execution

Fixed: Base Game - Player XP on Graveyard

  • Our team has fixed a bug where Victim players were not receiving the proper XP when exiting the basement and other boundaries on the Graveyard map

Fixed: Base Game - Virginia’s Skill Tree

  • A bug has been resolved with Virginia’s Skill Tree where despite adjacent nodes being unlocked, a branch path on the right was not visible

  • We’ve resolved an issue that would cause floating assets or items in the following locations
    • The Mill - Riverbed area
    • Slaughterhouse (including Leatherface’s Lair)

Fixed: Base Game - Missing Gore on Slaughterhouse

  • We fixed the problem where gore was missing from Leatherface’s Lair on all Slaughterhouse map variants

Fixed: Base Game - Hitchhiker Wall Gap Stuck Spot

  • Our team has resolved an issue where Hitchhiker would become stuck when going through the wall gap that connects the West Cell and Dig Room on Nancy’s House with ‘Wire Frame’ equipped

Fixed: Base Game - Gas Station Stuck Spots

  • We have fixed an issue where both Family and Victim players would get stuck in the crawl space and gaps in the Tool Storage area

  • The lighting in the Holding Pen Area of the Slaughterhouse was too dark and has since been fixed

  • An issue has been resolved where players could walk on top of an invisible asset located in the Shed Basement area of the Gas Station map

  • The team has removed invisible collision located in the North Tunnel area that blocked players movement

  • We have fixed a UI bug where Johnny players would only receive the ‘Sensed Victim Fear’ UI notification once per match

  • We have fixed an issue where Vent access wouldn’t become unavailable immediately after it was destroyed

  • We have resolved a bug where assets were clipping into the trunk hiding spot and would sometimes have an unnatural glow

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Preference Toggle UI

  • Previously players were unable to click “Prefer to play as Victim” with a mouse, and would need to use a keyboard or controller input

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Private Match Modifiers Transferring

  • We have fixed an issue where private match modifiers would transfer after a host player swapped from Base Game to ‘Rush Week’

Fixed: Private Matches - Host Player Voice Chat Functionality

  • An issue has been fixed where voice chat would not work properly for the host player after a private match has been started

Changed: ‘Wait a Second’ Perk Description

  • ‘Wait a Second’s description will now read as ‘Victims who mistakenly get tangled in barbed wire must wait 3/5/8 seconds before removing it’
  • Teammate assistance in the removal of the Barbed Wire is not intended

Changed: Slaughterhouse Storm Flags

  • We have changed the United States flags to Texas State flags
  • These flags will now have more of a weathered and worn look

Changed: Connie Outfit Pack III

  • We have changed the name of Connie’s ‘Quick Soda’ cosmetic in Outfit Pack III from ‘Cherry’ to ‘Cola’

Patch Notes - January 28th, 2025



Here are the bug fixes for the 1/28/2025 patch that includes 2003 Leatherface and the Slaughterhouse Storm map!

Our January 28th, 2025 patch will start rolling out across consoles and PC at roughly 8AM EST. This patch will also include the release of 2003 Leatherface, included in the Content Pass. You can read about him coming to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in our previous Hub post! Also, our newest map variant arrives with the Slaughterhouse Storm map alongside Connie Outfit Pack III and Leland Outfit Pack III.



Players who have a Content Pass will automatically unlock 2003 Leatherface. He will be $6.99 USD for non-Content Pass holders. Connie Outfit Pack III and Leland Outfit Pack III will be $4.99 USD each.



PATCH NOTES

Changed: ‘Rush Week’ - Johnny Blood Rush
  • Blood Rush will now automatically activate when reaching Level 4 and will remain active indefinitely
  • This was done to reduce confusion for players as activating Blood Rush and cancelling a minigame had the same controller input, which would sometimes cause Blood Rush to be activated accidentally

Tuned: Base Game - Interactions
  • Adjustments have been made to help ensure players traversal interactions are prioritized over item pick ups
  • This change was made to help break chase

Fixed: Base Game - Crashes
  • We have made improvements to memory issues causing all platforms to experience crashes including the Xbox platform
  • The team will continue to work on and make improvements to this over time

Fixed: Base Game - Wyatt Crashes
  • The team fixed the bug that caused a server crash to occur if Wyatt was hit by a Family member while using his ability or when Wyatt would successfully hit a Family member with one of his knives

Fixed: Base Game - Wyatt’s Bone Scrap Inventory
  • An issue has been fixed where Wyatt’s Throwing a Knife at Grandpa consumed both his Throwing Knife and Bone Scrap in his inventory

Fixed: Base Game - Bones Endurance and Weapon Swings
  • The bug that caused Bones’ Endurance to not affect his weapon swings has been fixed and placing Attribute Points into it will now scale properly

Fixed: Base Game - Bones Savagery Attribute
  • We have fixed an issue where Bones Savagery Attribute was not scaling correctly when players added Attribute Points to it

Fixed: Base Game - Bones Close Encounters
  • Bones’ Close Encounter value is now correct

Fixed: Base Game - Gore Bombs and Walls
  • Bones’ Gore Bombs will no longer hit characters who are behind a wall when they detonate

Fixed: Base Game - Hunting Enthusiast Perk
  • A bug has been fixed where Bones’ Unique Perk ‘Hunting Enthusiast’ was not scaling correctly with each level and the following values are now accurate
    • Level 1: Bones can traverse barricades. His speed to crawl over obstacles is increased by 20%.
    • Level 2: Bones can traverse barricades. His speed to crawl over obstacles is increased by 30%.
    • Level 3: Bones can traverse barricades. His speed to crawl over obstacles is increased by 40%.

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Slow and Steady’ Perk
  • We have fixed a bug that caused all Family members to interact with Bones’ Gore Bombs if they had ‘Slow and Steady’ equipped

Fixed: Base Game - Danny Tampering Water Pumps on Graveyard
  • When Danny tampers the Water Pumps on Graveyard, they will now deactivate automatically and will properly take longer for Family to reactivate them

Fixed: Base Game - Graveyard Crashes
  • The team has fixed a bug where the game would crash upon staying idle for more than 10 minutes in a single match on the Graveyard map

Fixed: Base Game - Cook Graveyard Padlock
  • Cook will now be able to place one of his padlocks on the Graveyard Entrance Exit Gate

Fixed: Base Game - Abandoned Mill Night Hiding Spots
  • Interior lighting of hiding spots has been fixed so it no longer appears too dark

Fixed: Base Game - Grandpa Perks Remaining Active
  • We have resolved an issue where Grandpa Perks would not always deactivate after reducing Grandpa’s level

Fixed: Base Game - Family House Living Room Lighting
  • A lighting issue has been fixed that caused the Living Room on Family House to appear too dark

Fixed: Base Game - Windmill on Storm Variants
  • We have fixed an issue where the tail of the windmill would move unnaturally fast

Fixed: Base Game - Character Model Disappearing
  • The team has fixed an issue where a Family player’s character model would disappear when they adjusted their camera after losing a Close Encounter

Fixed: Base Game - Danny and Mud
  • We have resolved an issue where Danny would run slower than other Victims through mud on the Graveyard and Storm Variant Maps

Fixed: Base Game - Hitchhiker’s Trap Damage
  • A bug has been fixed where a Victim stepping in a Hitchhiker Trap would not take damage in both Public and Private matches

Fixed: Base Game - Victim Close Encounters
  • The team fixed a bug where a Victim player would become hidden during a Close Encounter

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Private Matches
  • The bug that caused players who canceled out of a private match in ‘Rush Week’ to incorrectly get placed back into a private lobby instead of the main menu will no longer occur
  • We also fixed a bug that caused non-host players to get stuck in an infinite loading screen if they lost internet connection when loading into it

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Car Minigame
  • An issue has been fixed where players were able to call the police without completing the minigame to start the car
    • This resulted in the police car not being highlighted to Johnny or other Sorority Girls

Fixed: Private Matches - Wyatt Crashes
  • We have resolved a bug where a match would crash when Wyatt would attempt to retrieve a Throwing Knife from the ground right after hitting a Family Member with another knife throw in a Private Match

Patch Notes - December 12th, 2024



Our December 12th, 2024 patch will start rolling out across consoles and PC at roughly 8AM EDT. This patch will also include the release of our newest characters, Wyatt and Bones. Read all about them in our latest Community Hub Post! We are excited for players to hop on and play the brand new Graveyard map!

Players who have a Content Pass will automatically unlock Wyatt and Bones. They will be $9.99 USD each for non-Content Pass holders.



Lastly, players can look forward to the ‘Rush Week’ Winter Holiday and Homecoming Pack.

Changed: Base Game - Nancy’s Barbed Wire
  • Other Family members can now walk through Nancy’s barbed wire without breaking them

Changed: Base Game - Sliding Doors Noise Revert
  • We have reverted the VFX following Victims that made its way to the live build in a previous patch
  • Noise Pings will no longer follow Victims after they open a Sliding Door

Changed: Base Game - Incorrect Loading Tip
  • We changed the loading tip that stated that Leatherface was the only Family member able to break barricades
  • It will now read as, “Leatherface, Hands and Bones are the only Family Members who can destroy obstacles.”
    • Bones can break barricades inadvertently with a well placed Gore Bomb

Changed: ‘Rush Week’ - Private Matches
  • Players can now play ‘Rush Week’ in private matches
  • You will be able to use lobby invite codes
    • You can play solo with no set minimum amount of players needed to launch a private ‘Rush Week’ match
  • Players can assign someone to play as Johnny via the player list
    • Note: this can ONLY be done in private matches

Changed: ‘Rush Week’ - Johnny Level 3
  • We have added back Johnny’s speed increase at Level 3
  • Now, Johnny at Level 3 has a speed increase and doors slammed on him will break

Tuned: Base Game - Hands’ Ability Tree
  • We have adjusted the ‘Reduce Ripstall Cooldown’ Level 2 of Hands’ Ability Tree from 40% to 30%

Tuned: Base Game - Nancy’s Barbed Wire Removal Time
  • We have reduced the time it takes for Nancy to remove a Barbed Wire Trap that she’s placed from 5 seconds to 3.5 seconds

Tuned: Base Game - Nancy’s Trap Placement Time
  • We have reduced the time it takes for Nancy to set her Barbed Wire Traps from 10 seconds to 7 seconds
  • Nancy Mains rise up

Fixed: Base Game - Nancy Ability Upgrades Stacking
  • Nancy’s Ability upgrade Level 1 and Level 2 ‘Quicker Recharge Rate’ were incorrectly stacking, despite descriptions stating they do not

Fixed: Base Game - Victim Endurance
  • We have fixed an issue where Victim Endurance was not scaling correctly with the amount of Attribute Points put into the Attribute
  • When adding Attribute Points into Victim Endurance, this will now impact the intended total stamina capacity, along with stamina drain while ‘Dashing or Sprinting’ and stamina regeneration

Fixed: Base Game - Victims Permanently Highlighted
  • Our team has resolved an issue where Victims would become permanently highlighted to Family Members after being detected by Grandpa’s Sonar

Fixed: Base Game - Execution Pack 4 Cameras
  • Cameras have improved for Execution Pack 4

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Security Pins’
  • We have fixed an issue where ‘Security Pins’ was stacking the difficulty of the lock pick minigame

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Wireframe’
  • ‘Wireframe’ will now function as intended and activate when a player traverses through either a gap and a crawl space

Fixed: Base Game - ‘No Sell’ Perk
  • An issue has been resolved where the perk ‘No Sell’ would not lose charges and become active for the duration of the match

Fixed: Base Game - Sissy Perk - ‘Linger’
  • The team has fixed an issue with Sissy’s Perk, ‘Linger’ at Level 3 where the blown poison cloud particle effects didn’t scale appropriately.

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Clear Eyes’ Perk
  • We have fixed an issue where Generators and Car Batteries that were poisoned by Sissy were not highlighted for Victim players who had the perk, ‘Clear Eyes’ equipped

Fixed: Base Game - Hands’ Barge Attack
  • We have resolved an issue where Hands players would become non-functional after performing his Barge with depleted stamina

Fixed: Base Game - Shared Lock Pick Minigame Progress
  • We have resolved an issue where Lock Pick minigame progress was not accurate when progression was shared across two or more players

Fixed: Base Game - Victim Well Teleportation
  • We have fixed an issue where Victim players would teleport when being incapacitated after performing the jumping down a well animation

Fixed: Base Game - Native Invite Errors
  • The issue where a player could not join a lobby after accepting a native invite without the game open or on the initial start screen has been fixed
  • Players who accepted a native invite and would get stuck in an infinite loading screen will no longer have this issue

Fixed: Base Game - Native Invite on Start Screen Error
  • There was an issue where if a player accepted a native invite while on the start screen, they would not be taken to the lobby until they hit the play button
  • Now, players will be automatically transferred to the correct lobby

Fixed: Base Game - View Prompt on DLC
  • We fixed an issue where the view prompt on DLC would not open the tutorials in fullscreen

Fixed: Base Game - Leatherface UI
  • The prompts for Leatherface to “Rev Chainsaw” and “Stop Chainsaw” were not displaying correctly
  • These prompts are now correct when Leatherface starts his chainsaw

Fixed: Base Game - Bone Scrap Required UI
  • We have fixed an issue where players would see “Requires Bone Scrap” prompt when a set of bone charms had already been cut down

Fixed: Base Game - Wound Marks
  • Fixed an issue where wound marks were not appearing correctly on characters with the Summertime Outfit Pack equipped

  • The subtitles for Sissy’s dialogue were too small

  • The team has fixed an issue where a player’s character model would disappear when they adjusted their camera

  • We have fixed a bug where Family players could become temporarily stuck upon crossing the Valve Exit

Fixed: Base Game - Grandpa’s Sonar When ‘Sweet Talked’ by Maria
  • We have fixed some inconsistencies where Family players would still be highlighted by Grandpa’s Sonar from being ‘Sweet Talked’ by Maria
  • For newer players, this is how Grandpa’s Levels work
    • Levels 1-3: Sonar highlights players moving around not in bushes and shadows
    • Level 4: Sonar highlights players moving regardless of hiding status
    • Level 5: No place to hide!!

Fixed: Base Game - Abandoned Mill Lobby UI
  • We have updated the text, ‘Abandoned Mill - Dusk’ Lobby UI to reflect the correct text

Fixed: Base Game - Family Softlocked While Traversing
  • We have fixed a bug where Hitchhiker and Sissy fell over and became softlocked when they traversed through a gap or crawl space

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Game Crashes
  • We have resolved an issue where matches would crash when Johnny pulled out a Sorority girl from the car while calling the police
  • We have fixed an issue where players could experience a title crash if they simultaneously attempted to leave the car while also attempting to call the police

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Lobbies
  • The issue that caused players to experience prolonged wait times for a lobby to refill if a player left the lobby has been resolved

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Environment Not Rendering for Johnny
  • The team has fixed an issue where the lobby floor was not rendering for Johnny players when they entered the sorority house quickly

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Devil Costume Textures
  • We fixed the bug that was causing the Sorority Girl Devil Costume to have incorrect textures

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Call Police Prompt
  • We have fixed an issue where the prompt to call the police would not appear for a few seconds after a Sorority Girl reentered the car

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Blood Splatters
  • An issue has been fixed where blood was not present on Sorority Girls who took damage while wearing the Pajamas outfit.

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Johnny’s Aura
  • Spectators were incorrectly seeing Johnny’s aura for the duration of the match
    We have also resolved an issue where Johnny’s aura was visible during minigames

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Lobby UI
  • Text which read “NEXT MATCH IN:” would appear in black instead of white
  • Another issue we fixed was Johnny’s Shirtless Outfit briefly appearing when opening the Customization tab

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Localization
  • Fusebox instructions have been localized in available languages
  • We’ve updated language localization for the customization tab when in Private Matches

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Cosmetic Selection
  • We fixed a bug that caused players to load into a ‘Rush Week’ match without their selected cosmetic

Fixed: Private Matches - Failed Dialogue Triggers
  • Resolved an issue in private matches where certain voice lines would not trigger for both Family and Victims

Fixed: Private Matches - Gallows VO Triggers
  • We fixed the bug where no voice lines would trigger after a Victim approaches the Gallows

Fixed: Private Matches - Victim Status Portraits
  • An issue has been fixed where Host players were unable to see Victim Status Portraits when other Victims died or escaped

Patch Notes - November 26th, 2024

Read on for the tunes, changes, and fixes coming to TCSM on November 26th, 2024.

Our November 26th, 2024 patch will start rolling out across consoles and PC at roughly 8AM EDT. This patch will also include the release of the Summertime Outfit Pack (this will unlock automatically for Content Pass holders), Ana Outfit Pack III, and Julie Outfit Pack III. We have Blackout Cosmetics for Hands, Maria, and Virginia for all Level 99 players releasing, as well.

PATCH NOTES
We wanted to share with players some known issues that were found late in testing for tomorrow’s patch.

Known Issues:
  • Some players may experience server errors when trying to unlock the perks 'Unrelenting' and 'Dracula' in Hands Skill Tree
    • EDIT: This issue has been resolved prior to deploying this patch - 11/26/2024
  • Players loading into 'Rush Week' may experience prolonged wait times for player refills if players leave the lobby
  • Players may experience native invites not functioning properly for Private Matches
    • Current workaround is joining a party before loading into a Private Match
Please note that these known issues are being worked on by our teams for a fix that will launch outside of our usual patch cadence. The testing and certification process may be affected by the holiday. Thank you for your patience.

Changed: Base Game - Hands Skill Tree
  • We have removed ‘Scout’ from Hands Skill Tree
    • ‘Scout’ will be replaced by ‘Unrelenting’
    • ‘Dracula’ will replace the previous node for ‘Unrelenting’
    • Please Note: Players who own Hands will have to respec his Skill Tree

Changed: Base Game - Custom Private Match Toggles
  • We have added a toggle for item spawn rates
  • They are half and double

Changed: ‘Rush Week’ - Fusebox Minigame Instructions
  • Text for the Fusebox Minigame has been updated
    • Previously it read “Match the round fuse color with the correct slot, ensuring the AMP value is met for each pair. Once complete, power will be restored and the basement exit will open temporarily”
      It will now correctly read, “Match the round fuse color with the correct slot, ensuring the AMP value is met for each pair. Once complete, power will be restored”
  • We have also updated the text players will see upon successful completion of the minigame
    • Previously it would state, “Basement Exit Opened”
    • Now it will read, “Success”

Changed: ‘Rush Week’ - Slammed Doors on Johnny
  • Once Johnny is Level 3, doors slammed on him will break as intended
  • We have added a notification at Level 3 which will read, “Slammed doors now break on Johnny”

Tuned: ‘Rush Week’ - Fear Rebalancing
  • Sorority Girls will now start with some Fear and different visual effects
  • Previously, Sorority girls would start a match with no Fear

Fixed: Base Game - Danny’s Tamper UI
  • We have fixed a visual bug where a Danny player would use their Tamper with at least half of the knowledge bar filled, but the Tamper minigame UI would fill up completely
  • Danny’s Tamper minigame will now display visually the correct knowledge added

Fixed: Base Game - Danny Star Sign Ability Cancellation
  • An issue has been resolved where progress made by applying knowledge in the Tamper minigame was reset if a Danny player attempted to progress the minigame before the entire Knowledge charge could fully apply
  • Progress made in the minigame will now apply correctly

Fixed: Base Game - Leatherface Exploit
  • The team has fixed an issue where Leatherface players could bypass the opening animation of doors and gates by running towards the door/gate, revving, and swinging their chainsaw at the same time
  • Leatherface can no longer melee attack while opening a door or a gate

Fixed: Base Game - Grandpa Perks Activating at Wrong Level
  • We have resolved an issue where all Grandpa Perks equipped in the match were intermittently activating at Family Bond Level 1 regardless of their level
  • Grandpa Perks will now activate at their correct levels

Fixed: Base Game - Background Elements
  • We have resolved an issue where a patch of grass would be misplaced in the UI

Fixed: Base Game - Barge Animation
  • An issue has been fixed where players were able to cancel their barge animation in order to barge a door faster than intended

Fixed: Base Game - Blood Issues
  • Blood was incorrectly washing away from characters after being wounded
    • We have fixed this issue, and now blood will remain on players unless they are exposed to rain
  • We also resolved an issue where no blood would show when a player took damage
    • Blood will now correctly display when taking damage or jumping out of a window

Fixed: Base Game - Localization
  • We have added localization in available languages for the following
    • Execution Pack IV names and descriptions
    • Maria Outfit Pack I names

Fixed: Base Game - Gas Station Storm Textures
  • We fixed issues with rain textures being incorrectly applied to characters when inside
  • Now the correct textures will only display when outside

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Choose Fight’
  • Our team has fixed an issue where ‘Choose Fight’ was not extending the stun duration for sneak attacks properly
  • ‘Choose Fight’ should now correctly extend Family Member stun duration after a sneak attack by 2/3.5/5 seconds

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Rough Cut’ Activation
  • ‘Rough Cut’ has been fixed to where the perk will activate every time Leatherface attacks a Victim

Fixed: Base Game - PlayStation Native Invite Issues
  • There was a bug that would cause a player to remain in a state of infinite loading if they accepted a native invite for a custom lobby or party when in a public lobby
    • This has now been fixed
  • Players would occasionally receive a network error when accepting a native invite while in a custom lobby or in a party
    • Network Errors will no longer occur when accepting a native invite

Fixed: Base Game - Localization
  • ‘Unique Nancy’s House Escapes’ Stat is now localized for all supported languages

Fixed: Base Game - Sneak Attack Illogical Distances
  • We fixed the issue where Victims were able to Sneak Attack Family members from illogical distances
  • Now, the Sneak Attack prompt will only appear when a Victim player is close enough to do so

Fixed: Base Game - Climbing Wells
  • The bug that caused players to be able to climb on top of certain wells on Slaughterhouse, Nancy’s House, and The Mill has been fixed
  • Players will no longer be able to climb on top of those wells

Fixed: Base Game - Stuck Spots
  • The stuck spot at the Cotton Fields on The Mill has been fixed

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Suffocating Grip’ Perk
  • ‘Suffocating Grip’ was making the close encounter minigame more than 25% easier for Family members
  • The perk will now work as intended

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Bar Room Hero’ Well Issue
  • We fixed the bug where if a player had the perk ‘Bar Room Hero’ equipped, they would get stuck upon falling down a well

Fixed: Base Game - Wells and Desync
  • We fixed an issue where Victim players would lose the ability to interact with items or desync from a match after they became incapacitated from jumping down a well

Fixed: Base Game - Cook Padlock Exploit
  • There was an exploit where a Cook player could add one of his padlocks to a door or gate and saved minigame progress would transfer to his padlock instead
  • Now, when Cook places a padlock on a door or gate with saved minigame progress, the progress will remain on the door/gate regardless of Cook’s padlock

Fixed: Base Game - Party Disbanding and Restarting
  • We fixed the issue where when a lobby closes due to not enough suitable players, the party would disband and players couldn’t join a party until they restarted the entire game
  • Players will no longer experience this

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Security Pins’
  • We fixed the bug that resulted in ‘Security Pins’ not increasing the difficulty of the lock picking minigame

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - UI Localization
  • We have updated the 'PREFER TO PLAY AS VICTIM' text to be localized in every language available in the game

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Red Phone Cable Textures
  • We have fixed the textures of the phone cable that was stretching to the Sorority Girl’s location

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Pepper Spray Clipping
  • We have resolved an issue where Pepper Spray was not correctly aligned while being used in a Sorority Girls' hands
  • Pepper Spray will now be correctly aligned with the Sorority Girls' animation

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Softlocked With Options Tab Opened
  • We fixed an issue where softlocking occurred for the 6th or 7th player if they loaded into a match while ‘Options’ is open in a lobby

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ -Softlocked in Rush Week’s Main Menu
  • We have fixed a bug where players be would softlocked after pressing the chat function button or key at the Rush Week main menu

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Johnny’s Camera
  • An issue has been resolved in Rush Week where a Johnny player’s camera was stuck inside the character model after starting the match
  • The camera will now be positioned behind the character

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Softlocked in Rush Week Lobby
  • We have resolved an issue where 6 players in a Rush Week lobby couldn’t change tabs or access any menus

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Sorority Girl Cinematic
  • An issue has been fixed where a Sorority Girl’s leg was deformed during the cinematic intro of a match

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Stuck Spot
  • Players would become stuck behind the front double doors, between the doors and occasionally get stuck in in-game assets
  • We have fixed this issue

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Localization
  • Halloween Outfit names are now correctly localized in available languages

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Vents
  • An issue has been fixed where vents would remain ‘in use’ throughout a match

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Inconsistent Wounds
  • There was an issue where wound marks would appear inconsistent on the Halloween Outfits in ‘Rush Week’
  • Now, wound marks will be correct

Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Multiple Car Keys
  • We fixed the bug where more than one pair of car keys would spawn in multiple locations

  • The audio for the generator was missing for whoever was the host of a custom private match

  • A bug has been fixed where the host couldn’t see a Victim’s character model in spectator mode after the player finished the Fuse Box minigame
  • The Host of a Private Match can now see all character models in spectator mode

Fixed: Private Matches- Visual Bug for Host in Spectator Mode
  • We have fixed a visual bug where the host of a private lobby couldn’t see the Proximity Warnings while in spectator mode
  • Proximity Warnings will now be visible for a host in spectator mode

Fixed: Private Matches - Perks Not Saving to Loadout
  • The team has fixed an issue where a Player would rejoin a custom lobby after conclusion of a match, swap to a character they did not play with in the previous match and their perk slots would unequip in their loadout
  • Character perks will now stay equipped in their loadout when moving onto another private match lobby

Fixed: Private Matches - Crawl Space Sound FX
  • We have fixed an issue where the Sound FX of the Crawl Space hitting the ground was not present when the action was canceled
  • The Sound FX of not completing the opening of a Crawl Space will now be present

Patch Notes - October 22nd, 2024



Grapple Reworks, Gas Station - Storm, and bug fixes are featured in our upcoming October 22nd, 2024 patch.

Our October 22nd, 2024 patch is scheduled to start rolling out across console and PC at roughly 8AM EDT. This patch will also include the release of a new map variant, Gas Station - Storm, Maria Outfit Pack I, Hands Suspenders Outfit, and the Halloween ‘Rush Week’ Pack.



As a reminder, the Towel and Laundry Day cosmetics in ‘Rush Week’ are moving to paid DLC at $1.99 USD each.



PATCH NOTES
Changed: Close Encounters/ Grapples

  • Each character will now have a grappling value assigned to them to determine their effectiveness in a close encounter

  • We have fixed a bug that caused Family members to not properly open doors and gates


Fixed: Base Game - ‘Clear Eyes’

  • Electric Traps set by Hands that were disabled or triggered were not highlighting for Victims with ‘Clear Eyes’

    • This has been fixed to be consistent with Hitchhiker’s traps and Nancy’s barbed wires, which are highlighted even after being triggered



Fixed: Base Game - ‘Fast Hands’

  • Issues with ‘Fast Hands’ not working properly have been resolved and the perk will now function as intended


Fixed: Base Game - Victim Endurance

  • We have (once again) fixed an issue where the Victim Endurance stat did not feel noticeably different for players

    • Victim’s total stamina capacity, stamina drain, and regeneration will now scale properly as players allocate more points into Endurance



Fixed: Base Game - Cook Tagging Dead Bodies

  • Cook’s Seek Ability was incorrectly highlighting dead bodies after using his Lovely Neck Execution

    • This has been fixed, and Cook’s Seek Ability will now only highlight alive Victims



Fixed: Base Game - Cook Tagging Escaped Victims

  • We have again fixed a bug where Cook could highlight Victims who have already escaped with his Seek Ability
  • Cook is now able to use his ability only on active playing Victims


Fixed: Base Game - Close Encounters Door Interruption

  • We have resolved an issue where the Close Encounter animation would cancel out if a Family member opened or closed a nearby door
  • Player can now engage in a Close Encounter near a door without this interruption


Fixed: Base Game - Hitchhiker Traps and Windows

  • We have fixed an issue where if a Victim stepped in a Hitchhiker trap placed on the inside of a window, it would still activate the window jump cinematic and Victims would receive double the damage
  • Victim players will no longer get stuck under the window in this scenario


Fixed: Base Game - Rough Cut Thrust

  • An issue has been resolved where Victims who were hit with a thrust melee attack didn’t take damage over time from the perk ‘Rough Cut’
  • Damage over time will now apply to a Victim when hit with a thrust with ‘Rough Cut’ equipped


Fixed: Base Game - Noise Indicators Following Victims

  • An issue has been fixed where Noise Indicators wouldn’t follow Victims after they’ve opened a sliding door


Fixed: Base Game - ‘Exterior Alarms’ Noise VFX

  • We have resolved an issue where sliding doors wouldn’t produce noise VFX for victims if the Grandpa perk ‘Exterior Alarms’ was active
  • Sliding doors will now produce noise VFX for victims at all times


Fixed: Base Game - Stabbing Grandpa Prompt

  • We have fixed an issue where the prompt for Victims to stab Grandpa wouldn’t populate from certain angles and distances
  • Stabbing Grandpa will now feel more consistent for players


Fixed: Base Game - Lighting in Customization Menu

  • When players would go to the Customization Menu, the lighting was too bright and caused textures to go missing
  • The lighting is now correct in the menus and textures are no longer missing


Fixed: Base Game - ‘Heart Attack’ UI

  • We have fixed an issue where the UI for Hands’ perk ‘Heart Attack’ was not proccing on a Barge hit


Fixed: Base Game - Family Member Adjusting with Camera Movement

  • An issue where Family Members were not correctly turning away when players faced their camera towards them has been resolved


Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Living Room Collision

  • We added collision to the side table in the Living Room


Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Dining Room Collision

  • We removed incorrect collision in the Dining Room that would prevent players from navigating between a side table and flower vase


Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Sorority Girl Models

  • A visual bug has been resolved where a seam line would appear on the Sorority Girl’s back or shoulder


Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Opening Doors as Johnny

  • We have resolved issues players were facing with doors not opening consistently for Johnny, despite pressing the correct inputs


Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Perfume and Hunt Ability

  • When using the perfume on Johnny, it was not disabling his Hunt ability as described in the tutorial
  • Now, when a Johnny player steps into a perfume cloud, his Hunt ability is deactivated


Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Fusebox

  • When Johnny turns off the fusebox, the Sorority Girls were still able to make phone calls to the police
  • This has been fixed so that the prompt to turn off the fusebox was removed


Fixed: ‘Rush Week’ - Anonymize Player Names

  • The Anonymize Player Names option would show all players in a Rush Week lobby who was Johnny
  • Players with Anonymize Player Names turned on will now see a “?” for everyone in the lobby


Fixed: Private Matches - Victim UI

  • We have fixed an issue where the Victim UI for minigames would be visible to Family members


Fixed: Private Matches - Health Potion UI

  • Missing UI has been fixed for when Players would use a health item after canceling a mini-game


Fixed: Private Matches - Stuck After Canceling Minigame

  • There was an issue where if the Host of a lobby canceled out of a minigame and used a health potion afterwards, they would be softlocked
  • This has now been fixed

Grapple Rework


Players have seen changes to our close encounter system already. Earlier in the life of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, we made the decision to remove the ability for another Family member to instant kill a victim involved in a close encounter with a teammate. We had made that decision because we felt it was unfair to Victim gameplay.

With community feedback and our own internal thoughts, we’ve decided to rework grapples in a way we feel makes more sense. Each character will now have a grappling value assigned to them to determine their effectiveness in a close encounter. As a reminder, Victim players are able to change their build for close encounters/grapples through their Strength Attribute point allocation and via certain perks.

"With this grapple rework, we aimed to make the close encounter mechanic feel more natural. We wanted the one hit kill removed, because that didn't feel fair if a Victim had full health to be one shot by a Family member jumping in. The flip side is, it doesn't feel fair to be Hands or Johnny and lose a close encounter to Connie. So with that in mind, we felt this made sense for the characters size, attributes, etc. Now when you enter a close encounter to fight back against the Family, you'll be doing so from a more informed position on how risky that just might be, and whether or not you might want to avoid that encounter or jump in on the attack."

Additionally, this mechanic will now have a button cap to ensure that even if a macro is used for accessibility purposes, the button taps per second allowed will still be within the realm of human possibility.



"To put this into perspective, Johnny and Hands will be a challenge, unless you have a built-for-grapples Leland, Ana, Sonny, or Maria. But keep in mind, Victims can build for better grappling, while the Family cannot. Think of this new factor like the existing stun duration factor in game. Family has a variety of different stun durations and the Victims can add to the time they leave a Family member stunned."

Patch Notes - September 26th, 2024



The September 26th, 2024 patch will feature bug fixes and the release of ‘Rush Week.’

These are the bug fixes for our September 26th, 2024 patch. It’s scheduled to begin rolling out on console and PC at roughly 8AM EDT. This patch will also include the release of our new, FREE game mode ‘Rush Week’. Folks who have purchased the Content Pass will gain access to ‘Rush Week’ four days earlier. It will be free to everyone on Monday, September 30th, 2024.


As a reminder, in addition to the default cosmetics of Pajamas, Cheerleader, and Nightie, everyone who plays 'Rush Week' will unlock the Towel and Laundry Day cosmetics for FREE, for life! But you gotta be quick, as the offer only lasts until our October patch when the two cosmetics will move to the shop at $1.99 each.

Changed: Base Game - Fuse Box Spawn on The Mill

  • We have changed a potential spawn location for fuse box, to prevent it from spawning too close in proximity to the valve tank
  • Added fusebox spawn in the Mill Ground Floor
  • Removed fusebox spawn in the Overgrown Exterior

Fixed: Base Game - Connie’s Focused SFX

  • In both public and private matches, all players could hear Connie use her Focused ability
  • Players will no longer be able to hear a Connie pop their Focused ability

Fixed: Base Game - Lockpicking Exploit

  • Victims were previously able to bypass tool break progression by exiting and reentering the minigame after hitting a checkpoint
  • Tool break progress will fill and deplete normally now

Fixed: Base Game - Ripstall Cooldown

  • The Level 2 Hands Ability Tree upgrade, Reduce Ripstall Cooldown, did not give the correct cooldown
  • With this fix, the cooldown will be 72 seconds if Reduce Ripstall Cooldown has been equipped

Fixed: Base Game - Family Members Stunned

  • If any 2 Family Members stand near a hiding spot while a Victim bursts out of it, it would result in one Family player being permanently stunned for the rest of the match
  • This has been fixed so that the stun is the correct duration when a Victim player bursts out of a hiding spot

Fixed: Base Game - ‘Tracker Tagged’ Perk

  • The Family Perk ‘Tracker Tagged’ would lose functionality mid-match and not highlight Victims after landing a hit
    • The description for the Tracker Tagged Perk reads as follows: “Hitting a Victim highlights them for all Family members. Highlight duration is 2/3/5 seconds.”
  • The perk will now always highlight Victims for the proper duration for all Family Members after hitting a Victim

Fixed: Base Game - Maria’s Eye Color

  • Hazel, her eyes are hazel
  • Nothing to see here

Fixed: Base Game - Sonny Star Sign Ability

  • When using Sonny’s ability, other players were able to see visual effects
  • The effect will now only be visible to Sonny

Fixed: Base Game - Family Melee Attack Exploit

  • The team has patched an exploit where Family players could deal double damage with a single melee attack

Fixed: Private Matches - Crashes

  • If the host of a private match had the store open while the lobby countdown transitioned to the loading screen, the title would crash for them
  • The game will no longer crash in this scenario

Fixed: Private Matches - Consecutive Matches

  • Players were not able to play consecutive private matches as they would encounter an infinite loading screen if four or more players were present
  • This has now been fixed and players will be able to play back to back private matches regardless of player count

Fixed: Private Matches - Family House - Blood Moon Basement Lighting

  • We fixed a shader issue on the Family House - Blood Moon map variant that resulted in the basement area being too bright
  • Players can view this fix in private matches

Fixed: Private Matches - Spectator Overlay

  • When hosting a private match as a Victim, proximity and hiding spot overlays would not be present for the host in spectator mode
  • The correct visual effects will now show for the spectating player

Fixed: Private Matches - Family Stamina

  • Family melee attacks were incorrectly consuming stamina in private matches
  • Attacking as a Family Member will now consume the proper amount of stamina

Fixed: Private Matches - Attack Animations

  • Repeated attacks by a Family Member in private matches would have identical animations
  • Family Member attacks will now smoothly alternate between animations

Fixed: Private Matches - Bone Shards

  • An issue has been fixed where the host of a private match was able to collect an infinite amount of bone shards from bone piles

Fixed: Private Matches - Fuse Box Minigame

  • Fuse box minigame would not complete properly resulting in the basement door not opening and the minigame remaining visible to the player
  • Fuse box minigame will now function as intended when completed
  • Quick math, on the other hand, can still be difficult

Fixed: Private Matches - Character Levels

  • Character levels were not displaying accurately to non host players
  • The appropriate character level will now show for all players when in a private lobby

Fixed: Private Matches - Star Sign Ability Effects

  • We fixed an issue where the host of a private match could see the Star Sign Ability effects of other characters during a match, regardless of the side they were playing on
  • Every character is bound to its own set of abilities and will not see the effects of other characters' Star Sign Abilities during private matches

Fixed: Private Matches - Attribute Points

  • A fix has been implemented where Attribute Point changes made in the Character Loadout weren’t applying correctly during a private match
  • The fix made Attribute Points properly reflected in the functionality during a private match

Fixed: Private Matches - Radio Voice Over

  • An issue has been fixed where the host couldn’t hear the radio voice over when loading into a private match
  • Radio voice over is now audible for all players when loading into a private match

Fixed: Private Matches - Softlocked

  • We have fixed a bug where softlock occurred for the host of a private match if they loaded into a match with the Options Menu opened
  • The host of a private match will now be able to enter a match without getting softlocked

Fixed: Private Matches - Leatherface Destroying Doors

  • We fixed a bug where the host of a private match would see a Padlock appear after Leatherface destroyed a door
  • A padlock will not visibly appear after Leatherface destroys a door in Private Matches

Fixed: Private Matches - Victim Execution Sound Effects

  • We have implemented a fix where a sound effect that is normally played after a Victim dies was present during the Loading Screen when starting a private match
  • Victim death sound effects will now only play after a Victim is executed

Fixed: Private Matches - Non-Functional Lobbies

  • We have resolved an issue where players would get stuck in a non-functional private lobby while attempting to leave immediately after creating it
  • Players in a Private Match Lobby can now proceed to the main menu without any issues

Fixed: Museum Mode - Photo Opportunity Mode Invisible Collision

  • When entering Photo Opportunity Mode after finishing Museum Mode, players would encounter invisible collision in the Front Field area
  • This issue has been fixed

Fixed: Museum Mode - Stuck Spots

  • In Museum Mode’s Photo Opportunity Mode, if a player tried to change Family Members while standing on top of them in the Car Graveyard, they would get stuck out of bounds
  • This issue has been fixed

Fixed: Museum Mode - Camera Stuck Spot

  • The camera in Museum Mode would get stuck in the map environments when attempting to switch characters in a staged photo opportunity in the Basement Area
  • Player camera will no longer get stuck while switching characters

Fixed: Museum Mode - Inverted Functionality

  • An issue with inverted functionality in Museum Mode has been fixed
  • Inverted Look Functionality will now perform in Museum Mode as it does in the base game
