A new update is available! It brings some substantial changes, so let's go trhough them.
Bestiary: a new section is available from "Options" or game pause menu: the Bestiary. Unlock 41 pages by collecting them around the game world, and read new insights about each of The Waste Land's enemies. It's a good occasion to explore again the seven lands, and while some pages are quite obvious to find, some others will not. Good hunting!
Save migration needed: i've switched from the very old GameMaker8.1 to the current GameMaker Studio, that brings some advantages, but imposes also limits. One of them is that the new system is "sandboxed": applications built with it cannot browse all the PC folders, but are confined to a specific area. So, you'll need to move the pre-existent save files, unfortunately. It's not a big deal, though:
1) Locate the old files, that should be by default here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Waste Land\
2) Copy Save.sav and VideoOptions.sav from this location to the new one, that by default should be:
C:\Users\Home\AppData\Local\TheWasteLandPC
3) Done. Old saves are 100% compatible.
16:9 screen: the original game was in 4:3 ratio, and while i loved the retro vibe, i recognize that full 16:9 is way better. So i've made the change, i think you'll love it.
Bosses now have a health bar: initially i liked the idea of not having it, but understanding how far you are from beating the boss, especially when you fail, can be a push to retry and ultimately enjoy the game. So i added it.
Bugfix and rebalancing: i've fixed some minor issues, and subtly rebalanced monsters and bosses. No huge changes, just something more enjoyable and polished.
Hope you'll enjoy the changes, should you encounter any issue, drop a comment in the forums, i'll do my best to support you!

An interesting update
Hi all,
besides some minor fixes on tiles and italian text, i've reworked the enemy hit reaction. Some were complaining an excessive "immunity" time and somehow clunky combat. I've retuned all of this, so many enemies have changed reaction pattern, invulnerability time, needed to avoid plain bashing, has been reduced and the overall experience is smoother and more fun.
hope you like it!

Two more fixes on the way!
Hi all,
two more small fixes:
*good food dropped by enemies was automatically eaten even without touching it :O
*a misplaced block in Zeiron Acqueducts prevented from jumping back to the top
Enjoy!
Two small fixes this time
hi all,
i've made two small fixes taken from your bug reports:
*entering the weapon menu while sword slash is happening no more messes the sword itself
*enemy arrows no more cause damage after having hit solid objects
cheers!
New Update: Scanlines and more
Hi all,
i've added a nice feature to the game: scanlines support. For a full-retro-blast, the game support the good old "plain" mode, but also two new "scanline modes" that emulate the old CRT TVs.
To switch between scanline modes: press F2 key: default is "light scanlines", then "heavy scanlines", and "no scanlines". This setting is saved immediately, and cloud-imported.
I've also saved the "gamemaker mode/ new mode" option activated with F3, remember that the "new mode" avoids screen resize.
Finally, i've improved stability in some minimization to tray cases.
Have fun!

Unlock the 20 hearts collector achievement
hi all,
i've noticed that some have unlocked the "collector" achievement that require 20 hearts plus all weapons, but no-one has the "20 hearts" achievement on his own... mmh bad. This is a bug, that's fixed in this new update. Those who have all 20 hearts will have this achievement unlocked as soon as they load a savegame.
New fixes and improvements
Hi all,
i've been working on some fixes and tweaks, here they are:
Screen rendering mode now can be switched. Press F3 to switch form "Normal mode", that is the default one, and the old "GameMaker mode". This second one was the one that forced resolution on some PCs, but i've kept it in case..
The downward sword slash was hard to pull out in some conditions: now it's fixed and easy to do.
Minor tweaks on the tutorial
The Tiresias speech associated with the normal bow incorrectly talked about the flame bow, i've corrected it.

Forced screen resolution fix
I've just made available an update: build 385428 contains a different way to render fullscreen that positively fixes the "forced screen resolution change" issue (switching the screen to 1024*768 at game start forcedly)
As long as it was present only on limited machines, please let me know if there is any other similar issue.
I will soon introduce another update to switch forth and back the old and new system to maximise flexibility.
