Platform Update for Windows 7 The Platform Update for Windows 7 enables improved features and performance on Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. 2013-02-11 https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=36805
Version 1.1.0 has been released.
Sand Table Software proudly announces that the DirectX used in Theater Commander has been upgraded. As a result, separate installation of older DirectX is no longer required. On the top of that, Theater Commander now features a new default layout that provides a much larger main window, thanks to the recommendation of our players.
Change log for version 1.1.0:
1. Upgrade DirectX functions in the application, and remove references to older DirectX library.
2. A new default layout with wider main window, and a button in the control panel to switch between new layout and existing layout.
3. The map now scrolls continuously once the player moves the mouse to the edge of the map.
Tips:
1. The submarines generate different level of noise at different speed. Therefore, a submarine built with inferior technology has a better chance in fighting her high-tech counterparts if she could reduce her speed as much as possible. Aside from that, sonar detection range in shallow water is significantly lower than in deep water.
2. An available AWACS is crucial for missile launch platform such as a skimming aircraft or a warship to fire their anti-ship weapons at longer distance.
Version 1.0.8 is released.
A few quick modifications are made in response to the comments from some of our players. More feedback and encouraging reviews will be appreciated.
Change log for v1.0.8:
1. Enhance unit visibility by making unit icons darker and background lighter.
2. Units on the map are highlighted with indicator when clicking them on the OOB
3. You can quit the task defining procedure at any time by pressing ESC key.
4. You can see the units in Hostile OOB but not their position unless they're detected.
5. Incorrect landing crafts data is fixed in the scenario Blood in the Norwegian Sea.
Tips:
1. Be aware that all transport and supply units are not designed to carry infantry but supply ammunition and fuel to the combat units. Re-supply is automatic once the supply unit and combat unit move close enough (0-3 km). Infantry units have built-in vehicles, as manually boarding each unit looks overburdened for players at current stage.
2. Terrain and land cover is crucial for combat units, particularly infantry not equipped with advanced anti armor weapons such as Javelin missiles. Infantry units lacking advanced missiles stand no chance against modern tanks on open field.
3. Flight height is crucial for aircraft to avoid detection by surface radar.
4. The screen on the right side serves mainly as a monitor for aerial intelligence, where incoming hostile aircraft are displayed as red flecks, very helpful when you conduct the ground operation, focusing on a small area on the map.
