Steam Trading Cards are Live!

Creeping forth from the blackest pit of pestilence comes a delicious invention of dark, wicked design...

That's right: Steam Trading Cards are finally here!

Thanks so much for your continued support of TBIAD since launch! The community has been asking, so I've finally managed to carve out time to create and implement Steam Trading Cards for the game. Mercifully, I've elected to set them to drop at slightly shorter intervals than most games.

I really appreciate everyone's interest in the game! If you're enjoying it, please take a moment to leave a Steam review! That makes a big difference -- especially in terms of motivating me to keep tinkering away on some grisly future projects I think you'll love.

The positive reviews have been very kind and encouraging, and I've also gained a lot of insight from useful critical feedback, too.

TBIAD was first created with Twine as an experiment. I'm thrilled with what I was able to create within the tool's limitations (and my own, at the time), and I've learned a ton over the past year. Now that I'm working in GameMaker Studio, I'm able to do SO much more, so I can't wait to share with you what's coming up!

Stay tuned and thanks again!

Doom Parade - New Project on Greenlight!

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=658036062
Hey all! I wanted to let you know about another small game project I have up on Greenlight at the moment! If you enjoyed the dark vibe of TBIAD but want more limb-severing action, then I think you'll definitely want to check out --- DOOM PARADE!

I'd love your support with a yes vote to help it pass through Greenlight! And I'd appreciate it you'd tell your peeps about it, too! :)

Note: Doom Parade is more action-packed, and less story-driven, but it has a similar grim atmosphere to TBIAD. I'm also potentially going to incorporate aspects of the combat system into the eventual redesigned spiritual successor to TBIAD that I'm gradually working on.

Thanks for your support!

The "Virtual Dungeon Mixtape" Vol. 1 - Give it a listen!

During development of This Book Is a Dungeon, I listened to a lot of cool, dark, moody music, and it had a big impact in helping to shape this grim narrative world I've created.

Now I'll readily admit I used to obsessively make cassette mixtapes for people back in the 90s. In that same spirit, I've created a "virtual dungeon mixtape" for you! The Internet is way too big to hand-dub cassettes for everyone, so I've created it as a YouTube playlist!

You can find the mix and more detail about it on my blog right here!

Enjoy and please share it with your friends!

Update V1.0.2 is Live!

It's exciting to hear that folks seem to be really enjoying the game so far! That means a lot to me.

I've also been actively working to fine-tune and make fixes based-on player feedback, so far, so keep those bug reports coming if you find anything funky! I really appreciate that. :)

Today's update (version 1.0.2) patches a few minor bugs, includes a significant edit pass to fix reported typos, and adds an in-game version tab so you know when the last time the build was updated, and what I tinkered with.

Thanks again for all your support so far! If you enjoy the game, don't forget to leave a Steam review! I'd love to hear your thoughts on my dark, quirky horror adventure! And you can catch me in the Steam community discussions, too, if you want to connect!

Cheers!
