This Means Warp

Update 3 Now Available!

Today marks the launch of Update 3, featuring a host of new content and systems for This Means Warp!

Update 3 Release Notes

AI Control

One of the most requested features from players finally arrives in This Means Warp! You now have full control over AI crewmates, and can tell them which systems you do (or don't) want them to use on the ship.

New Missions

Multi-Ship Battles

Take on two ships at once with new combat missions featuring challenging battles against multiple enemies.

The number of possible enemy ship layouts has also been expanded, with new enemies to face and new strategies to discover.

New Survival Mission

It's getting hot in here... A new survival mission has been added featuring a nearby star. Get those extinguishers ready!

Ship Systems

Taunt Beacon

Put those health upgrades to good use in the new Taunt Beacon subsystem, absorbing enemy projectiles and damage for a set duration. Be careful - enemies may have them too so you'll need to take them down or time your damage carefully to get past them.

Trubble Gun

Those pesky Trubbles are back, this time hurtling from a cannon! Slow enemy systems with area of effect damage from the new Trubble Gun.

Ship Mods

Two new ship modifiers are available to collect after completing a boss fight. Buy yourself some time by slowing all enemy systems, or by temporarily stunning their entire crew.

Update 3 also includes a number of minor bug fixes and balance tweaks. We'd love to hear what you think so if you haven't already come and chat to us on Discord!

TMW Daily Deal & Development Update - Sep 14th 2022

We're delighted to reveal that Valve have selected This Means Warp to be Steam's Deal of The Day today (14th Sep 2022)!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1269300/

If you haven't yet loaded up those blaster cannons, now is a great time to jump in with 33% off the game! Don't worry if you missed the initial announcement, we have extended the discount for a few more days so no-one misses out 🤫

What else is going on?

We've spent the last month or so working on some top-secret features for 1.0 launch next year, but are also putting the final touches on the next Early Access update (Update 3).

What's In Update 3?

Full details to be announced soon, but Update 3 includes one of the most popular player-requested features to date - crew AI controls! You can now set individual task priorities for each crew member, having them focus on the systems you want them to and avoid the systems you don't.

The update will also include new missions, weapons, ship systems, and more. Stay tuned for further details!

When will Update 3 be released?

Mid-October 2022. Not long now!

Update 2 Is Here!

We're delighted to announce that This Means Warp's second major Early Access update is now available! This update includes a host of changes, focused around the areas most requested by players - missions, quality of life improvements, and AI.

Update 2 Release Notes

Missions

10x New Decision Events

We've added a host of new random events during a run, from pirates raiding ancient ruins to merchant ships leaking spacepuffs. These additional dialogue choices enable greater variation and ensure there's always something new to discover each time you play. As part of this, the dialogue choice system has also been expanded to enable multi-stage conversations with the characters you meet along the way.

New Training Mission Type

Building on the crew progression system introduced in Update 1, friendly merchants can now offer you the chance to improve character stats for you and your crew.

New Item Swap Mission Type

Merchants will now sometimes look to trade for an existing system on your ship rather than cash.

Merchants aren't always friendly - they can now also confront the player and appear in battles if you get on their bad side!

Quality Of Life

"Inspect" Button

Tired of waiting for an item or upgrade so that you can see your system stats? You can now use the dedicated button to inspect an item during gameplay.

Reroll Shop

If there's nothing you fancy in a shop you can now reroll for a new selection of items. Use it sparingly - it doesn't come cheap!

Skip Intro Cutscene

You can now skip the intro cinematic if gameplay has fully loaded before it ends.

Crew AI

Packages

Crew members will now automatically pick up ammo, toolboxes, etc from the floor if available rather than always heading back to the dispenser.

Shields

Crew members will now actively use shields to block incoming damage.

Survival

When entering a Survival mission crew members will start getting ready before the ship takes damage.

Bonus

Bee Gun

A new bee-themed unlockable weapon type featuring a new "slow" effect that impacts target systems.

We hope you have fun with the new content! If you have enjoyed This Means Warp, please leave a review on Steam to help others discover the game. You can also drop us a note on the Steam forums or chat to us on Discord - we'd love to hear your feedback!

TMW Development Update - May 30th 2022

This Means Warp’s first big content drop launched a few weeks ago (full details here), and we’re now hard at work on loads more changes as part of Update 2!

What are you working on?

The full feature list for Update 2 will be revealed soon, but in the meantime there are three big areas we’re focusing on:

  • Mission variation
  • Quality of life improvements
  • Crew AI

Most of Update 2 is based on player feedback, including many features that have been directly requested by the community. If you’d like to have your say, join us on Discord - your suggestions may well make it into the next update!

How has the Early Access roadmap changed since launch?

This Means Warp’s Early Access development roadmap was shaped based on Alpha and Beta player feedback, but with the influx of new Early Access players we now have even more ideas and suggestions to integrate into the game!

The most common request around launch was for more replayability, so Update 1 was adjusted to feature a lot of additional content once you’ve completed the main story. Update 2, on the other hand, focuses more around areas that can become tedious after many runs (hello “Skip Intro” and “Inspect Item” buttons!).

We have more updates planned in the future, and will continue to adapt the changes based on input from This Means Warp’s community.

When will Update 2 be released?

Exact date TBD, but we’re aiming for late June 2022.

Any other news?

We were very excited to see our “Best Upcoming Game” award arrive in the post, and if you're looking for some cool new games to try, we're also participating in the Dreamhack Beyond Festival for the next week!

Bug Fixing Patch 5.04

- Fixed an issue causing game to crash if player had equipped the Bouncing Bombs ship mod and a bomb landed on the player ship at the same time as an enemy was destroyed

TMW Update 1 Out NOW, With A 20% Discount To Celebrate!

In the six weeks since Early Access launch we've been working feverishly to bring lots of new content to This Means Warp. We're delighted to announce that Update 1 is available NOW, along with a 20% discount to celebrate Steam's "Going Rogue" festival!

Update 1 contains a wealth of new features for This Means Warp, including a series of unique gameplay scenarios, new ship colors, new enemies, missions, modifiers, and more. Check out the full details below.

If you've been thinking about picking up This Means Warp, now is the perfect time to jump in! Many of the new features in Update 1 are based on feedback from our community, and we'd love to hear what you want to see in Update 2.
