Tidal Tribe

Tidal Tribe is now available!

I can't believe it, but after 5 years of work Tidal Tribe is now actually available on Steam. I poured a lot of sweat and heart into this game. I don't know if it'll be successful enough to continue my gamedev career, but I hope that at least some of you will enjoy it :) Have a good time with it. If it brightens up your day, it was at least not in vain :)

Oh, and of course, if you have bugs to report or just wanna talk about the game, feel free to join the Discord server:

PSA: Try not to build walls right where the wave hits

Just a quick little general advice, since I've seen several people do this now (even though the tutorial advises you against it :D )
Building a wall right where the wave hits (to "catch" the water that's flowing back) may seem like an easy approach at first, but it's actually a pretty bad approach and you're making your life much much harder than it is that way^^ The best strategy (as of right now, maybe someone finds a better one) is to guide the water to the back of the map, then build a little reservoir there to catch it (or lead it to the side) and let it flow back to the sea. For example by kind of zig-zagging through the terrain. That way you can easily fill large areas with water. If you want to catch the water that's flowing back the main channel, it's better to just build a tiny tiny little wall that guides it to the side (where you can then build actual lakes).

Here's a screenshot of what the map in the first mission can look like:

(ignore the channel on the right that leads water to the blue people, that one has... absolutely no meaning at all... doodelidoo...)

Closed Beta

Update on July 11: Beta's now over!

The beta has started today, so if you want a key: just head over to the Discord server and ask for one! (well, at least while stocks last :P )

Apart from that I have nothing big to report. Except that it looks like I will actually be able to release the game on July 18. Which is probably quite big news, considering that it might be the first time ever I'm able to meet a deadline, lol.

Release Date and new Trailer

Tidal Tribe got a new trailer and finally has a release date! It will be available on July 18, 2019 (with a 10% launch discount). So if you feel like building some sandcastles at the beach but don't wanna go out into that hot, burning sun: I've got you covered!

Oh, and there's now also a Discord server that you can join if you wanna stay up to date, get future beta access, etc. Apparently that's where all the hip people hang out nowadays. (I start feeling old...)
