Tidewoken Playtest Date

Heyoo!! Exciting news, I have a date for the next playtest.

The Tidewoken playtest will start on the 17th of August and last for about a week.
During this time you can fully experience Tidewoken and all the characters, dungeons, PvP, and the "VS AI" mode.

Most of the features are fully finished, but some require a bit more work (such as profiles and cosmetics).

I'm excited to hear your feedback about the game. Tidewoken was always built around the feedback I received from you and most of the features in the game are a direct result of that. I'll need your help in finding issues and bugs :)

If you can think of anyone who would be interested in trying out the game, please let them know as well. The dungeons are even more fun when playing with others.

To receive a key, join our Discord Server. Before the playtest starts, you can receive your Steam key there. Make sure you have the "Looking to play" role.

New features & upcoming playtest

Yo, surprise! I’m still working on Tidewoken :)

My current goal is to polish the game and prepare it for a release into Early Access.
As you might glimpsed, creating a fairly big game by myself takes a lot of time, but I’m here with exciting news:

Tidewoken is going to be free-to-play!

I always wanted to do this, but was hesitant because of the struggles to pay for the servers needed. The game was originally designed to be a PvP-only title, which meant the servers are hosted by me (to ensure no one cheats). To upgrade the servers for more players, there will be some way to support the game in the future (like a supporter edition or Patreon), but without any pay-to-win shenanigans.

I also worked on several noteworthy features in the past few months, such as:

1) A fun new equipment system for your characters, with over 30 unique items:



2) The new elite difficulty in dungeons, featuring “Greater” variants of monsters with new abilities:



3) Loot! You can now find skills and equipment when slaying monsters or battling other players. Legendary skills can now only be earned by defeating the required bosses.



4) A new game mode called “Versus AI”, where you can battle AI-controlled enemies in a 2vs2, alone or co-op. You can even get the skills the bots use as a reward!

5) You can now customize your keybindings in the settings menu.

6) The disk space of the game is now reduced from 9 GB to about 2.5 GB, a decrease of over 70%. Also, the average performance should be roughly 20-30% better (depending on the level).

7) A new Mystic skill… does it look familiar?



Considering all these changes, I give my best to test them a lot, but bugs always happen and Tidewoken is becoming quite large to test alone.

Development News

Heyo, Xreal here!

As you might have noticed, there has been a lack of updates over the past few weeks/months. Right now, I'm the only one working on Tidewoken, whenever I find the necessary time. And since I also started going to University, the amount of time greatly depends on studying as well.

The consequence is that I won't be able to release Tidewoken this year.
This is not only due to features & polishing missing, but also because I can't promise to develop, update and support an online/multiplayer game when I'm occupated with studying (even if I give my best!).

I wish to make the game playable soon, and let players contribute to the final product. Maybe something like a Patreon, to support the development and get access to the game before it is released, with the possibility to get your own skills and perks into Tidewoken. Let me know if you think that's a good idea, or if you can think of something better.

Thanks a lot to anyone still caring about the game, I know it has been a long journey.

Tidewoken May Playtest

Hey guys!

The next Tidewoken playtest launches on the 22nd of May and will last approximately until the 27th of May.

Tidewoken Playtest extended

Hi!

I've decided to extend the #2 playtest of Tidewoken for another few days, to further test some of the new changes.

Hop in our Discord Server (you can find the link in game) to talk with us about the game or if you want to play a few matches/dungeons with me :)

Additionally, there is a new patch out today with a couple of improvements:


  • Reworked a few achievements and added a recommended missions widget to the main menu
  • Increased turn time for easier difficulties
  • Renamed easy difficulty to normal and normal difficulty to challenging
  • Improved performance for high setting by about 10-20%
  • Added a 50 fps cap option
  • Fixed a couple of smaller issues

Tidewoken Playtest #2 Live!

Playtest #2 announcement

Hi everyone!

The next playtest of Tidewoken will be held from 4th of March to 6th of March (over the weekend).
During this time you can play and test Tidewoken for free.

There will be exciting changes to try, the biggest ones are:

Dungeon rebalance & second character


You can select up to 2 characters when playing dungeons alone or with 2 players.
This way you are now able to play a dungeon with a full 4 character team together.
The general dungeon difficulty is adjusted to 4 characters.

AI companions


When the player party is not full, the lobby host of a dungeon run can select AI companions for their team.
With 2 players, dismiss your Companion Knights to add more AI companions.

Dynamic turn time


The base turn time is lowered to 45 seconds.

The turn time is now based on the previous turn of that character.
When you end your turn in 40 seconds or faster, you get up to 25 bonus seconds for the next turn.

Cauldron Ball preview


Cauldron Ball is a new fun gamemode coming to Tidewoken. This mode is all about the pushback mechanic. Use skills to push the cauldron ball into the enemy team's goal.

The first iteration of Cauldron Ball will be very basic, but I'm excited to hear your opinion on it. Have a fun break inbetween battling in dungeons or PvP.
