Upcoming Version 0.5.1 Preview / Dev Log!

Hello all!
I'm sure you're wondering how the next patch is coming along...It has been a few months after all. I've unfortunately been burdened with school, computer issues, and other projects. But luckily for you, I have a few small previews and patch notes to share!

Some minor spoilers inbound, as usual.




Those who have played on the Testing branch lately may have noticed these goo-covered arms lingering around the Locked Halls Vents. This gif shows off a simple random damage tile effect. The placeholder stairs represent a 'safe' passage, while the grates represent a 'dangerous' one. Stepping onto the tiles while the goo arms are facing you will trigger an attack, inflicting a small amount of damage on the player! Going through the vents in these areas will require some quick reflexes and a bit of luck!



Next up are these cute little guys. More variants of the typical Rats will be making an appearance in 0.5.1, such as the Wind-Up Mice. Stronger, faster, and of a completely different element to their furry cousins- they will deliberately follow the player around until a battle begins!



...Awkward family dinners, coming to a Dollhouse near you.



Lori's character has been redesigned! Special thanks to the users on Discord who helped choose her new look.

The patch will be dropped as soon as possible, but until then feel free to DM me on the Discord Server if you want access to the testing branch, which already contains some of the new content.

Hotfix to repair being locked out of menu in HQ.

If you experienced this bug, re-enter HQ and then walk back out. You should then be able to access your menus as normal.

-HQ Sequence breaking glitches patched
-Staya and Sera boss health nerfed to help newer players

-Players can no longer name themselves 'Adeline' / 'adeline' / some other varients
-Began adding extra furniture
-Players now spawn beside their bed at the start of the game

-Incorrect floor WSAD keys have been corrected to represent arrow keys
-Made Insightful Eye skill only usable in-battle
-Many HavenQuarters bugfixes

-Clint will now have an effect on Wilson's Shop prices (in New Saves)
-Chimera boss is now a single enemy + has low heath imagery

-It is recommended to start with a new save this patch due to many switch changes and small additions that may cause bugs otherwise.


How do I save my current save file to use it in an upcoming update?
-Go to the TinkerQuarry Steam folder and locate each file that says "save". Copy these to a separate folder and carry them back over to the new version once it updates. Some saves may wiped from the Steam Folder, so it is recommended to save them elsewhere if the next version is compatible.

Release Version 0.4.1

Released January 7th

Major Changes:
- New short introduction clip featuring Peter and the Player
- Adjusted battle tutorial dialogue for better pacing
- Item descriptions now indicate if they are Equippable
-Changed "Charm" Equip slot name to "Amulet" to prevent confusion with lesser items
-New Clint note describing each Status effect

Minor changes:
-Fixed Whiskers becoming "Normal" colored post-battle instead of Impaired
-Fixed bug where players without Clint would recieve him near the end of the patch ( UPDATE: Now he will vanish if the players already had him before the fight. This will be fixed ASAP in a small patch. Thank you Discord Testers! )
-Other minor bugfixes and adjustments
-Starting room now has details on controls on the floor
-New pickup sound effects, and door opening/closing sound effects. I will be phasing out as many RTP placeholder sounds as possible in the coming months.

Other News: Starting work on a possible experimental "Class" system and the ability to switch between recruitable characters. (You will be able to repair Lori, for example, and recruit her. You will also be able to swap Skid out for Whiskers at HQ or vice versa at any time.)

EX:
Tinkers will be strong against Softies
Softies will be strong against Plastics
Plastics will be strong against Amalgams
Amalgams will be strong against Tinkers
Souls (Human class) will be neutral against all others

Many new enemy types will be added to reflect each of these Classes, with the color of their Essences dictating their Class.

Expect Testing Branch patches reflecting these systems implemented in the coming months, along with regular updates.

Release Version 0.3.9

Released December 10


Major Changes:
-Added story progression and a new choice-based boss battle
- Nerfed Tear again, enemies will recover from it much quicker (25% chance of recovery ) but it will still do substantial damage if Spilling comes into effect
- Setting up a strategy to make Cotton Candy and Coffee Bean status effects ( Blessed and Pumped ) to only last 20 turns in battle to give an initial buff to players. The item will be forcefully unequipped from the "Charm" slot mid-battle to stop the status effect from persisting. This was done since these items granted immunity from boss inflicted negative status such as Crippled or Spilling
- Adeline will now learn a SP restoring move at Level 3 , and Peter at level 4

Minor changes:
-Reduced some of the text in the HQ section
-increased Camime puzzle difficulty slightly
-Some small stat changes
-Various bugfixes

Other News: TQ's updated soundtrack is nearly fully funded. Any donations are still welcome.

RPGMaker2003 Update Complications FYI

UPDATE: This has since been resolved, and I am working towards all the new content for halloween's update.

Emergency patch released August 19th

-Fixed barriers after Sera's battle blocking players

-Re-adjusted Skill names to make it more obvious which ones are stronger / what status effects they may inflict.
( Weak < Medicore < Decent < Strong < Catastrophic )
(Higher tiers are less likely to deal extra effects)
