Fireart Friday Q&A #5

Hey everyone!

Welcome to another round of #FireartFriday! Today we'd like to introduce another one of TOHU's artistic wizards (aka Illustrators), Dzmitry Kazak ๐Ÿง™

TOHU's teaser trailer was based on his illustration for the game ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Check it out!

[previewyoutube="CcU8iMJ2Xvc;full"]

What do you do at Fireart Games?
I'm one of the two Illustrators on the team. Sometimes, I also take part in solving game design issues, working on small animations, and discussing game-related questions. I took part in most of the game shows and exhibitions where we were presenting TOHU.

What is your favourite thing about TOHU?
It is definitely the art style and graphics! The visual part of the game that includes great animations created by our Animation Team.

What did you do before working on TOHU?
I took part in the production of our first game, Spirit Roots, as an Illustrator, Concept and Environment Artist and, sometimes, Level Designer.

What do you like to get up to when you're not working?
I spend most of my free time reading books, watching movies or TV shows, and improving my skills with CG tutorials or workshops.

What's your favourite video game of ALL time?
It's difficult to choose just one, so here's a bunch of games from different genres - Hollow Knight, Quake III, the Witcher series, Fallout 1 & 2, Full Throttle, Machinarium, and many other games which I would definitely put on the same level!

Fireart Friday Q&A #4

Bring out your party hats because it's #FireartFriday! ๐ŸŽ‰

In our fourth entry in this series, we have a sit-down with Dan Gartman, an Illustrator and Art Director, working on bringing TOHU's world to life ๐ŸŽจ

What do you do at Fireart Games?
Primarily, I'm an Illustrator and Art Director. But because we are a small team, I also work on simple animations, styleframes, game design, scripting, narrative design, UX/UI design, etc. ๐Ÿ˜€ Almost everything except coding!

I'm the bad guy in our team because I tend to criticize and I'm not satisfied with something if it isn't perfect (especially when it comes down to art and animation).

What is your favourite thing about TOHU?
I love every small creature we created with Dima Kazak. I feel like a God of TOHU's world ๐Ÿ˜† And I love each animal on the screen. My favourite creature is a glowworm (it has a small lamp, you can see it in the main menu) because this is the first creature I worked on before TOHU was even imagined as a game. It's something important and symbolic for me.

What did you do before working on TOHU?
I did the same things that I do now - Illustrations, concepts, my own visual novel game, art pictures, and playing bass guitar.

What do you like to get up to when you're not working?
I'm a big pet father (I have a cat, a dog, and a guinea pig)! I also have a small amateur sound studio at home where I produce music (live jamming, playing bass guitar, and synths). I'm a big fan of tabletop games and I'm a Dungeon Master (RPG, D&D).

What's your favourite video game of ALL time?
I have 3 options ๐Ÿ™‚

What I love to play - Dota2
What I love as the best game of human civilization - Minecraft
What I love as art - Stardew Valley

Fireart Friday Q&A #3

Happy #FireartFriday everyone!

Time to sit around the proverbial campfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ, roast some marshmallows, and get to know Olga Tesliuk, one of the final pieces of TOHU's Animation Team. Say hello! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

Let's kick this off with a funky animation straight from Olga herself!

What do you do at Fireart Games?
At Fireart Games, I work on character animations, from main characters to little beings in the background.

What is your favourite thing about TOHU?
My favourite thing about TOHU is to see how all the different results of team work come together to create a beautiful piece of art.

What did you do before working on TOHU?
I worked as a Freelance Motion Designer and made a student game with my friends. Because of the experience I gained, I was able to join the TOHU team.

What do you like to get up to when you're not working?
When I'm not working on TOHU, I work on my own projectsย ๐Ÿ˜„ But when I want to relax, I play games, watch TV series, hang out with friends - Just normal stuff.

What's your favourite video game of ALL time?
It's hard to choose, there are lots of genres with great games! But maybe I'll choose Ori and the Blind Forest, as it is a big inspiration for me.

Fireart Friday Q&A #2

Happy Friday, TOHU wishlisters!

In this week's edition of #FireartFriday, we get to know a little more about another Animator behind the magic of TOHU โœจ - Alex Ionoff!

What do you do at Fireart Games?
Animation!

What is your favourite thing about TOHU?
I really like point and click games, like Machinarium and I think that TOHU will combine the best features of this genre. Great music, illustrations and, of course, animations ๐Ÿ˜„

What did you do before working on TOHU?
I worked on animated videos - From 2D to 3D. Mostly in the field of motion design!

What do you like to get up to when you're not working?
In my free time, I also work on my own 3D animation project in Unity. It takes all my free time ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

What's your favourite video game of ALL time?
This is a difficult choice ๐Ÿค” I tend to like different games at different times. Let it be "Death Stranding" today.

We're going to end this Q&A with a cool animation he's worked on for TOHU...

Fireart Friday Q&A #1

Hello everyone and happy (totally official) #FireartFriday!

We thought it would be nice to start a weekly blog where we have a sit-down with the team and get to know a little more about the minds behind TOHU.

Today we're meeting TOHU's Animation Lead, Aslan Almukhambetov ๐Ÿ™‚

What do you do at Fireart Games?
Iโ€™m an Animator and Animation Lead at Fireart Games. So besides bringing our beautiful characters to life, I also look after our Animation Team and send them feedback in order to make our animation even better!

What is your favourite thing about TOHU?
What I like about TOHU is its incredible diversity in visuals and puzzles. The amount of different characters and mechanics is not only going to entertain gamers, but it also entertains me as an Animator, so itโ€™s always interesting to work on anything there!

What did you do before working on TOHU?
I worked as a Character Animator on our previous game, Spirit Roots, and, for the most part of my career, I was a Motion Designer, but recently Iโ€™m leaning more and more towards character animation (both 2D and 3D).

What do you like to get up to when you're not working?
Usually, after a whole day of animating at work, I continue to animate during my free time.ย There is not much stuff left to do during the quarantine, soย ๐Ÿ˜„

What's your favourite video game of ALL time?
Oh, thatโ€™s a tough one. Iโ€™m in love with recent platformers, such as Celeste or Gris. For the last 5 years, I was mostly playing Dota 2. But my all time favourite would be Team Fortress 2, for sure. There is no other game that Iโ€™ve played as much as I played TF2. I mean 1700 hours on Steam is a lot ๐Ÿ˜†
