Whole NEW Tommyknockers Revamp Coming Soon!

Hi guys! It has been FAR too long since we posted ANYTHING on this game, let alone any updates. Without getting too far into why, let's just say that our unique business environment (Summit County, Colorado) presents its fair share of difficulties when you are still incredibly poor.

Anyways, we have begun TOTALLY reworking Tommyknockers, nearly from the ground up (or down, as the mining pun might be ːsteamhappyː). Instead of merely guarding the gold each night, YOU are now the miner AND the guardian of the gold! Venture deeper and deeper into the earth, searching for any gold you can mine out of the various caverns. However, those sneaky little Tommyknockers are still on the prowl and will become more and more vicious the deeper into the darkness you dare to explore!

No exact dates have been chosen yet, but we are aiming for the beta to be available sometime in February!

NOTE: Many things are still subject to change, including graphics, design, features and more.

New features:



  • Explore a whole new, complex cavern system! See how far and deep into the Earth you dare venture!
  • Multiple possible routes, many different caverns to explore!
  • Harvest the gold yourself from the surrounding rock, but careful! The Tommyknockers are always watching!
  • New, MUCH scarier Tommyknocker design!

  • Find new weapons to defend yourself and attack the Tommyknockers, including shovels, pickaxes, sledgehammers and more!
  • More new traps to strategically lay out!
  • Find other miners' tools lost in the mine and keep for yourself or return to the original owner for rewards!
  • Haul your harvested gold back into town and sell it at the saloon for money to buy new weapons, tools and traps! Remember: Gold is VERY heavy! You can only carry so much of it at a single time (and it WILL slow you down).
  • Skills! Level up certain abilities via practice and use.
  • A whole new SANITY system: The longer you spend in the depths of the earth and get spooked, attacked and/or harassed by the Tommyknockers (and whatever ELSE may be lurking in the darkness), the more you will begin to see things that may or may not be there, hear things that may or may not be there and experience other types of terrifying hallucinations! Caution: Don't spend too long in the mine or you may forever lose your sanity and end up like ol' Crazy Lester wandering around town, always mumbling to himself! (Fancy way of saying Game Over!) Returning to the surface/sunlight and socializing in town or resting at your cabin will refresh and raise your sanity.
  • A much better tutorial system to introduce the controls and gameplay naturally
  • VR support coming soon as well!

Major Bugs Fixed!

It's NEVER fun to find game-breaking bugs on your launch, but we did! Actually others did, but we have spent all day fixing them.

  • Players can now actually advance past night 1 without the game locking up
  • Fixed a bug with certain achievements that are based on the progression of certain stats auto-firing.

    • Regular achievements now fire properly

  • Fixed a crash when pressing Escape while dead
  • Made gold nuggets much larger and easier to see
  • Fixed bug where the player would sometimes fall through the world when starting any night past night 1
  • Fixed bug where bear traps would sometimes trigger endlessly and not work

There are still more improvements we are working on for the very near-future, including:

  • MUCH BETTER in-game help/information for:

    • Controls
    • How to play the game (rules, hints, strategy, etc)
    • Tommyknocker behavior

  • Better pacing on the first night
  • Built-in survey for letting players rate their experience on several factors (optional, of course) that we will take into account for the direction of the game

Substantial improvements to memory footprint and load times


  • Cut install size from 700+ MB down to ~500 MB.
  • Loading times drastically shortened.
