Today is a very special day for our team and for our dear backers! After more than two years of hard work, what started out as a series of fortuitous coincidences is finally coming to fruition!

As a way of thanking each and every single one of you for your hard-earned money and your confidence in our ability to bring this project to term (and, well, also because we promised it during the campaign!), we are pleased to announce that we have just uploaded a preview build of the game on Steam, exclusively for Kickstarter Backers to enjoy!

[Backer Update 6.68] Special attacks and more!



Greetings, Agents!

We decided to make another small update for the game. It's complementary to the last one - based on some feedback that we received during GDC and from you.

What has changed?

  • we've fixed some small issues with the tutorials
  • polished shooting mechanics with new visual and sound effects
  • controls should feel a more precise
  • all new weapons and special attacks (which are unique to each character) are now balanced better and are closer to the finished quality
  • polished cutscenes with visual elements instead of just text
  • additional minor gameplay tweaks

Important note 1: if you had the game installed before - old files may cause some issues with the new build. Be sure to go to games directory in Documents folder (\Users\[your username]\Documents\Tower57) and delete all the old files.

Important note 2: the new tutorial is adapted for controllers. Game works perfectly fine on keyboard+mouse - but we don't have tutorial ready for it, yet. So if you do not want to shoot someone by mistake - please use "F" key on you keyboard when interacting with objects (when "A" appears on the screen).

Backer Update!



Hello there, Agents!

As you may have noticed, there was a small Backer Update for Tower 57 on Steam.



Here's what we've updated:

  • game now starts at the train station, not on the train - we believe it's a better, faster way to start the game and introduce the basic mechanics
  • added few tutorial tips at the beginning
  • a lot of balancing stuff - game should be easier and more intuitive now - let us know what you think!
  • now you can switch between characters during game - you can do that in special areas
  • upgradable weapons added!
  • two first levels and the hub area are available
  • local coop is available for testing purposes
  • some minor tweaks



Remember that game is still in alpha state - errors, bugs and crashes may occur. Please let us know about them in this discussion, if possible. Hope you'll enjoy the changes, though!

Backer demo!



Hi there!

As you may have already noticed (if you check your email) - access to Tower 57 has been granted!

This super secret key will unlock two very different Steam builds:

  • The "default branch" is the build we have been using for press and events. It is several months old and as such lacks many of the latest features and fixes that have been added since. You might want to give it a spin though, as it contains an old iteration of the Sweatshop level which is not present in the latest demo.
  • The "backer branch" gives you access to the latest, Kickstarter-backer-exclusive demo

Remember that this is still a work in progress, and as such is subject to change and refinement. This build still contains bugs and does not represent the final quality (especially the sound - right now we used a lot of placeholders for that).

October Update!


Hi there, Agents!

We have some cool news for you!

Tower 57 on consoles!



On the console front, we received our devkits and immediately got busy porting the renderer to DirectX (the first step to getting the game to run on Xbox One - Playstation is next!)

Online multiplayer



Regarding online multiplayer, we now have a "lobby" of sorts (no fancy UI yet but it works) which lets you host or join games, pick a character, and play the game. Movement, shooting, enemies, etc. all work but things like handling cutscenes or talking to npcs still need to be adapted, as well as some weapons, mounts, etc. so it's not quite done yet.

Content



And finally with regards to content, besides adding cut scenes and npc dialogue to tie the levels together and "tell the story", we are also in the process of reworking and/or refining all levels (in terms of enemy encounters, puzzles, etc.) so if you have been playing the alpha/beta builds until now, you should still enjoy a "fresh" experience with the next build or the released game.

Stuff for backers



Some time around mid-November - once the backer demo is ready - all backers will be getting their Steam key! This key will give you access to the Backer Demo at the very least, and if you pledged for the alpha/beta tiers or above, you will also get access to a Beta branch with the latest builds. It will also give you access to the final game once we release.
