November Hotfix

Firstly I want to say thank you for all the kind words and feedback on the latest update, and welcome to all the new players who have recently found the game!

Because the update added a lot of stuff (read the full details here) I knew there would be some things which needed fixing so I've been working on a quick patch to fix the immediate issues, with more content of course coming in later updates.

New Update Now Live! Multiple trains, Junction switches, new languages!

Hello everybody!


The content in this update has been many months in the making and I'm so happy to be able to finally release it all. Multiple new features, new ways to play, new objects, and new languages! Plus of course the usual batch of fixes and polishing.

:HealUp: Trains are available in the Toy Box


You can now place a second, third, fourth.. as many trains as you like!
Once a second train has been placed, pressing T will open the new train menu.



Here you have access to options such as choosing which train to drive, adding carriages, customisation and starting points. This menu will eventually replace the carriages and start point objects in the toy box, though they are still there at the moment and will still only apply to the starting train. When you have only one train, holding T will now open the train menu instead of resetting the train.

This is a big milestone and a lot of different parts of the game have been tweaked and reworked to allow for more than one train. Many interactive objects have been temporarily moved to the experimental category due to big changes made so they would work with multiple trains. There is still a lot of work to be done on them so please report any issues in the forums!

:HealUp: Junction switch


Junction pieces can now be clicked when in build mode to automatically guide a train down that path. This is very useful with multiple trains since you no longer need to be driving a train to make it turn!



:HealUp: Tracks has been translated to:

This is a first round of translations and my first time ever doing it as a developer so please excuse any mistakes you find! Reports in the forum of any issues/problems are greatly appreciated.

New Update Now Live! Train Customisation, Circus Items, Camping Items



:HealUp: Train customisation



The Scenery menu has new options for changing the look of your train:

  • Individually pick colors for the body, base and trim
  • 3 paint patterns: Blank, Lines and Checkerboard
  • Paint condition - Optional chipping and damage
  • Paint thickness - How intense you want the colors to be
  • Option to hide the whistle
Styles are currently saved and loaded within your track files. Let me know if you would prefer them to be in their own little category.

There is a checkbox to prevent your current style from being overwritten when loading a new save.



:HealUp: Improved Scenery controls



Fog Color has been replaced with Sky Color.

It works in a very similar way but now you can set the color of the sky (and fog) even with a very low Density value - no more default yellow when you want a clear day.

Lowering Fog Density now also changes how quickly it becomes thick, so slightly lower values can fade out far away objects while close ones remain clear.

If you load a save made in a previous version you might need to tweak the values a bit to get the same look that you had before.

:HealUp: Updated engine



Tracks now runs on the latest version of the Unreal Engine.

Upgrading can add new bugs (reports in the forum are appreciated) but keeping up-to-date is important for the long term health of the game, and the latest version includes some nice new features for me as the developer.

Tracks can now be played with a controller!

This is our first pass at controller support, and we are looking to refine the controls over time. If you have any feedback please post in the controller feedback thread.

We've gone with Xbox controllers as the default, meaning that only the Xbox user interface is currently visible. But you can still play the game with alternate controllers such as the PS4 controller and the Steam controller.

Final Week at $9.99 + Incoming Controller Support

Hello Everyone,

Tracks - The Train Set Game is continuing to evolve and improve. On 2nd August we will be implementing controller support and adding a few more objects which can be added to your wonderful towns and other creations. Over the coming months there are more items and more features planned.

Take a peak below at the new screenshot and you may even be able to spot a few of the new items:



We will also be transitioning to full release within the next few months. This means that we will also be increasing the price of Tracks, alongside this new update on 2nd August, to $19.99. We will not be increasing the price again after this.

This price increase reflects how far the game has evolved and how much more content it has, opposed to when it launched in Early Access. We wanted to give you all a week's notice so that you do have a chance to purchase the game now before the price increases on 2nd August.

We have an internal schedule of content over the next few months and you will soon see much more regular updates.

New Track Piece, Workers and a Merry Go Round!



Hello everybody!

Today's Tracks update includes a lot of bug fixes and the addition of a couple of new objects and new passenger types. Over the coming months we are working on several new additions and features for Tracks: The Train Set Game. Once we have more details, we'll make sure to share them with you in a future announcement. But for now, let's go through today's additions.

The Turntable Track Piece



Stop on the turntable and turn left or right to spin the train in place. It can also act as a normal cross junction which automatically switches when the train approaches. This has been added as an experimental object meaning that it may need more testing - if you notice this track piece behaving oddly, do let us know!

Merry Go Round!



The Merry go round will rotate, play music and also light up when placed in a night time environment.

New Passenger Types


A few new passenger types have made their way into the game. Right now they behave just like the standard passengers without their own special station but we hope to continue adding more types throughout development. Let us know what kind of passengers you'd like to see in the future.

Easter Update - 29th March 2018



Hello everyone,

Today's update contains a few new objects, introduces animals, new building objects and the introduction of cabin toys for you to use while driving the train.

Easter Eggs


To celebrate Easter, we've introduced a 10% discount and have added a few more bits of content into the game! One of these is an Easter egg which can be placed into your environments. It's a rather bright and quite large egg - multicoloured and comes in various sizes in-fact.

For those of you who enjoy Easter egg hunts, we've hidden ten Easter eggs in the image below. See if you can find them all! A link to the full size image can be found just below too!

Cabin toys


This update includes the first of many different interactive trinkets for your train cabin. Eventually they'll be optional and customisable, and perhaps impact gameplay. The first is the steam whistle, which you can look at, and click & hold left click to activate.

Boosted performance of the Save/Load menu, especially with many files


    When you open the save menu for the first time ever after this update, there will be a potentially long delay/stuttering. Just let it run, this will only happen once and then loading will be much faster forever!
