Train Valley

Version b1.3

Hello everyone! Version b1.3 is here!

What's done:
- Main improvement - Steam Achievements. We have tried to make it interesting and challenging. Let us know what do you think about it ))
- Performance. We are keep struggling for optimisation. This update can help some players with slow computers get more performance.
- Bigger version of control buttons for bigger resolutions (thanks to Alex [GER] for this issue)
- We have changed that creepy lamp sound in the beginning of the game (thanks to Alex [GER] again)
- Some minor bugs fixed.

We are keep tracking your bug reports and working on the next season. Your comments are welcomed, as always!
Cheers!

Version b1.2

Hello everyone! Version b1.2 is here!

What's done:
- One of the main improvement is new train timer indicator (bottom right corner). Now you will know when to expect new train (thanks for dragoniv for this feature request).
- Optimisation of all levels of Russian season (it should show better performance on old PC's).
- Cargo rates dependent on route. We have added number of coefficients for each level and rewards now depends on length of the routes (thanks to barnaba for this feature request). Actually it makes most of levels little more easier.
- Changes in train generator. Random algorithm should be a bit smarter now (thanks to barnaba again).
- Level 3-5 infinity mode is fixed.
- Level 3-5 bulldozer bug fixed near Teal and Blue stations.
- Diesel/Steam sounds for Russian season locos are fixed.
- Early appearing of modern stadiums is fixed.
- Hot-keys in buttons tooltips appeared.
- Several minor visual bags (e.g. inner walls of stations).

We are always waiting for your features requests and bug reports!
Thanks for making Train Valley better!

Version b1.1

Hello everyone! Version b1.1 is alive!

What's done:
- Difficulty level is fixed. We have changed some levels (especially early ones) and settings to make the game more affordable. But we are still trying to keep quests challenging enough (hard to master).
- Tutorial is improved. Additional notifications added.
- New tax system represented. It's based on 20% taxes from annual income, with minimums: 1000, 1500 and 2000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd seasons respectively.
- Bug with trains explosions on constructed switches fixed.
- Trains explosions penalty is 3 times lower. Explosion affects more tracks (bigger radius), but it's become easier to fix it, dragging new tracks above.
- Default zoom direction is changed and invert zoom option in setting works properly.
- Hotkeys problem (e.g. spacebar pause) on level 1-6, 2-6 and 3-6 is fixed.
- Bug with bridges construction in sandbox mode is fixed.
- Several minor technical bags and improvements.

We are keep tracking statistics and your bug reports. Your comments are welcomed, as always.
And thanks for helping us to make Train Valley better!

36 countries and counting!

It's been a week since the game came out in Early Access, so I felt like giving you all another update on the geography of sales. And my oh my, do we have some changes:

UK has taken the lead over US, exceeding it by 20%. This happened just in the last 24 hours (there must be a British review or two that just got out?).

Germany overtook Russia, exceeding by a small number of units, but still - up until yesterday, Russia was in the lead, thanks to early supporters.

Australia is in a tie with... whom, do you think? Canada. Both being slightly ahead of France.

So there you go, the French, the Russian and the German localisations haven't been in vain. Also, both Italy and Poland started to generate some sales, and hopefully the players from these regions enjoy their localisations, too. The same with Brazil. The only region that hasn't seen a single unit sold despite having localisation at hand is Czech Republic. Which most likely will change, once the dev team reaches some of the local media, like Level or Score.

Anyways, that's it for the sales update, and the next announcement will be from Alexey, talking about the upcoming patch/update. Happy end of the week to you all.

European, American, Russian & Japanese Seasons

Train Valley currently has three seasons: European, American and Russian. The fourth season, Japanese, will come some time around September. We just created four season-focused forums on Steam boards in order to collect player feedback on the following two topics:

* which improvements can you suggest to the existing 3 seasons?

It can be a small detail that we can add to the map, for example.

* what would you love to see in the upcoming Japanese season?

It's already in production, we'll share first materials on the forum - and we'd love to know what do you want to see in that season in September, because perhaps we can add a few things from your wish list. Please let us know!

The game now has players from 27 countries!

You have to love Steam for the access that it provides to the whole global community. Half the fun for a typical small studio is watching the game's revenue climb up, the other half is watching new countries appear in the Regional Sales update.

As of right now, there's a very close tie for top regional sales between USA, UK and Germany. USA leading by a single unit (!).

New countries that recently showed up in the sales report: Turkey (beating Sweden), Brazil (beating Finland), Ukraine (beating Switzerland).

Aside from English, German and French and Russian localisations seem to have been the right choices: strong sales in all three regions. Also, Brazilian Portuguese, and Italian. As to Polish, Czech and Spanish, I guess we need to wait for word of mouth to get through to those regions, for local players to show up.

We'll keep you posted, if you're interested in this sort of trivia?

The game is out, here's thanks to all the players!

It's been 36 hours since the game got released in Steam Early Access, and in this little time, there are already over a dozen of reviews. While Alexey is talking about future features and UI in the forums, I wanted to share the geography of the top five regions of the first buyers:

  1. USA (predictably, the biggest single market)
  2. Germany (because it's a train game!! :-D)
  3. Russia (because people know previous games of the developers there)
  4. Australia (hmm?)
  5. UK (because it's a train game!!)

Then there are sales to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland; Korea, Japan and China; France and Canada; Belgium, Switzerland and Puerto Rico. So thanks to everyone for supporting this product - and we look forward to welcoming more train operators on board in the next week!
