The month long promotional collaboration with Goodfoods in celebration of Zero Food Waste Day has come to a conclusion. This tiny update removes the "Richard" variant of the player raccoon and other tweaks that only Canadian players will notice.
Compass Pointers Added
This is a feature that has been requested many times for a very long time! I've added little pointers to the minimap compass that will point you toward nemesis challenges and the garbage trucks.
The mouse input for the camera has been reenabled by default.
Fixed Wrong Boxes in Canada
Oops! Players in Canada were getting the generic boxes, not the special promo boxes with the Goodfood promos inside.
No Food Waste Day game update!
Today is No Food Waste Day, a great day to introduce a new gaming mechanic: stealing food delivery boxes! That’s right, our raccoon is becoming a porch pirate! In front of some homes, you’ll find cardboard boxes (carelessly not yet brought in by the humans) that are a little tough to open (try swatting at them a few times). Inside, you'll find delicious fresh food. As for the trash bin in front of the same house? Well, they won't have any food inside because there was no food waste.
This addition to the game was inspired by a collaboration with Goodfood, a Canadian meal kit service whose mascot is Richard the Raccoon. Richard is a grumpy raccoon who doesn’t like Goodfood, because their meal kits are perfectly proportioned - so there’s no food waste.
For the next month, if you're playing in Canada, you'll play as Richard, and the boxes are Goodfood branded boxes. Players in Canada can find a special item inside - one that will give an actual IRL promo code valued at $250CAD!
Over the coming weeks I’ll be adding new boxes to be found in front of homes and the ability to pick up boxes and carry them away earning points for each theft. The pickup/carry mechanic is still a little buggy, so I won’t be introducing this until it’s functioning as intended.
Promo Patch
Quick fix: special promo item wasn't spawning frequently enough.
Improved Camera Control
I've never been totally happy with the way the camera controller works. So, I've been tinkering with a new version of the camera that won't go below the ground. Let me know what you think!
Welcome to Morningside Heights
It took me longer than I expected, but at long last, a new neighbourhood has been added! “Morningside Heights” is the largest level in the game, accounting for roughly 2750km². The neighbourhood is in the north-east end of Toronto, in Scarborough. It happens to be next to the Toronto Zoo, so keep your eyes open for animals some “Canadian Domain” creatures!
No one has played this new level other than me, so there’s a very good chance I missed a few issues. That’s why I’m releasing it with the disclaimer that it’s still in beta. Please let me know if you find any issues (screen captures or video recordings are very helpful!)
Also in this new build, I’ve fixed a few bugs involving the coyote barrier guards, the nemesis challenges, and the garbage collection.
Minor improvements
Happy 2024! In this first update of the year, we have a bunch of small improvements and bug fixes.
These include: - fixed the issue of the mouse cursor stealing control of the UI, even if the player isn't using the mouse as their input - fixed the bug when super-speed powerup is happening, pressing the 'stand up' button prematurely ended the rolling speed - shortened the duration of the dreamy flying powerup (there were complaints it went on too long) - eating edible trash during the challenge against the nemesis raccoon is now disabled during the challenge - general improvements to The Beaches neighbourhood
Next update will include a new neighbourhood. I'm leaning towards Richview (suggested by a player via Discord), but I'm not 100% sure. Other candidates: Jane & Finch, Agincourt, Morningside Heights (next door to the Toronto Zoo).
Your suggestions/feedback will be appreciated. You can reach me on the game's Discord, or via Instagram/Twitter @HeyBishop.

Update 1
With build 231205.2323, the major changes were cosmetic to The Beach(es) neighbourhood. I improved the terrans a touch (fixing landscapes that were connecting smoothly), and improved the boardwalk (which I thought was a little wonky), and changed the shoreline at the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant to be more accurate to real life.
I also removed three trash bins from Cabbgetown, because the were out of reach to the player - thus never allowing you to get the achievement "No Bins Standing In Cabbagetown".
I tinkered with how the mouse cursor operates when menus are activated. Sometimes the mouse cursor will steal focus of a UI button even if you're not using it. I think I improved it a bit, but it's still not right.
