Hello Everyone, It has been a long time since we announced and then promised to deliver TrivaTune, yet still the game is in frankly a terrible state with bad networking and very limited to none functional gameplay.
The largest reason for this was one we thought we had solved which was licence issues around music, we thought we had solved this by gaining access to an API that allowed for music based quiz games and was provided by a trusted source, the issue is simply in the platform of the game, because its not a mobile game that licence is not valid. So we looked into many solutions around this and unless we removed audio part of the game there was none, we have since decided instead of us doing "packs" we will let the community do packs and then reach out to some artists in a similar way to how the popular game Beatsaber managed to convince artists to get into their game.
Okay you may be thinking if that is the plan then surely just update the game to make it work for that plan, that does not seem like it would take years!
Again you would be right, the other failures we had were with choices in investors who requested we limited our team size for them to invest (since backed out) which we did reducing the team to 4 people, one of who had to leave for college/uni the other was myself who simply over estimated my own skills and has had to spend alot of time learning unity. Then we had Barry and don, who I am sure you are all aware of.
All this is great but what are you trying to tell us.
Well I was giving backstory so you know that we fully understand we are at fault and have failed our community. But moving forward we are going to be taking massive steps in the right direction we hope.
We are going to first start from the ground up with SteamWorksV2 and mirror which is a common and flexible multiplayer system. We will then push an update with just a basic world to get movements and multiplayer grounded.
From that point we will work on mini-games with a quiz pack being the fore front, we had adapted the idea to contain races where the cars get fuel, points and other modifiers by answering quiz questions. We plan to build on this mini-game quiz idea and get 2 or 3 quiz mini-games into the game.
Then when we have those core parts into the game we will make a video update outlining the state and opening the game to modding, as we feel mods are going to be the biggest part of the game moving forward. The modding community is what keeps games alive for the long term. We want this game to come to life. As a friend group we just love quizes and music ones the most.
EARLY ACCESS
WERE FINALLY HERE! (but we suck) So we are finally out to EarlyAccess and anyone who has bought the game may notice it looks a bit like an asset flip and well frankly we have used a lot of assets from the store.
But that is not where the work has been done, we have spent A LOT of time on the network system and the quiz system, you can't really see that now but we plan to do a Dev stream soon so you can ask all the questions you like about what you're paying for.
So what do we plan to do now, well in the next few days we are going to be uploading a first-person mode.
We are then going to sit and write a LOAD of questions for the first Offical Pack. We are also going to release a video and share the game on a few discords we are part of.
We hope next weekend to be adding more features such as the user pack creator, we also hope to fix bugs that are inevitably going to come up.
we may even have added a few easter eggs by next week :)
Our plans moving forward after that are to put all our focus on the movement system and the game UI giving it a major overhaul and general polish. We are also looking into more modes, the time frame on those is still unknown but we have a few in mind that should be possible within the next few months all going to plan.
Make sure to join our discord and let us know what you think as well as any bugs you find.
I know that I and the team can not wait to start playing this game with you all.
