El Presidente is excited to announce the newest DLC for Tropico 6 "Going Viral". In this DLC you will have the chance to step into El Presidente's shoes and delve into the world of pandemics, and the chaos of political maneuvering to either conquer or capitalize on the diseases.
However, not all is well... As Tropico prepares for an unprecedented crisis in El Presidente’s latest DLC adventure, Tropico 6 – Going Viral, players must navigate the delicate balance between safeguarding their nation's health and seizing unique opportunities. As the leader of Tropico, you will face unprecedented challenges, including the emergence of deadly diseases, the implementation of quarantine measures, and a political landscape rife with new friends and old enemies. How will you respond when faced with the choice of saving lives or exploiting the chaos for your gain?
Tropico 6 - Going Viral will be released on October 12th on Steam, Windows PC as well as on October 26th on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 4|5.
Tropico 6 - Going Viral Features:
Find the cure, with Tropico 6 – Going Viral: 4 different diseases hit Tropico and disrupt daily life; some may severely harm your citizens, others may be just a mild cough
cough*.
Pull the strings & keep control in a 4 mission-campaign or fight the diseases on a new multiplayer map.
Stay calm… or don’t! Influence the masses with the new “Panic” mechanic. The panic meter measures how the Tropican citizens feel about the diseases. High panic allows for more powerful edicts to be enacted. Should you raise the alarm in order to exploit the situation with powerful edicts, or keep the population calm in the face of a potentially deadly threat?
Inject first, ask later: A host of 16 exciting new edicts will be unlocked as your panic meter rises and will give you different ways in which to exploit the disease in Tropico: Inject first, ask questions later, mandate masks, or choose to gear up for a viral palace party, it’s all up to you, El Presidente!
Managing the disease: 9 new buildings will change the way you manage Tropico and how you deal with outbreaks and diseases. Use the Healing Howitzer to speedily distribute the cure to your Tropicans or build the new Colossal Hospital to increase your medical capacities and place Medical Checkpoints on the streets to find infected people. In addition, during the campaign a curious quack will also help you manage the disease in Ambrosius’ Magic Hut.

El Presidente and Penultimo (mostly El Presidente) have also decided to bestow emergency powers of creating and playing in-game mods to the masses. After discussing with the Mod.io ambassadors, El Prez simply couldn’t keep these exciting possibilities from his loyal fans. The mods will be hosted on the Mod.io website and will be downloadable via an in-game menu across the Steam, Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store and GOG versions.
The kit to create these mods has been rolled out for PC for free on the Epic Games Store or can be acquired from El Presidente directly (for a small handling fee of 1,000 Tropican Dollars). A series of videos prepared by Tropico’s Department of Education, hosted on the Kalypso_live Youtube channel, will teach those new to modding how to create mods for Tropico 6.

Click on your profile in the top right corner or subscribe to any mod you like.
You'll be asked to create a mod.io account or log in with an existing one.
Browse the mod.io mod browser and subscribe to your favorite mods.
Once done, click on "Back," and the game will prompt you to restart.
Subscribed mods will appear in the mods menu after being downloaded and installed automatically.
There you can also disable mods and even change the loading order.
You can uninstall mods in the mod.io overlay.

Exciting News!! After a few weeks of carefully curating and raising the garden gnomes, the Tropican Ministry of World Domination and Garden Plots (The TM of WoDoGaP) is finally ready to release a modding beta to the public. This means:
Get ready for an enhanced gaming experience, as we introduce the functionality to use existing mods through the Steam Beta Branch. Our talented binary magicians have worked tirelessly to make this possible, and we can't wait for you to try it out!
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: This does NOT mean, that you can create mods on Steam or via Steam Workshop. For now, you will only be able to download and use existing mods via the Mod.io interface and the Mod.io website for your gameplay when using the Steam Beta Branch. Here's what you need to know:
Accessing the Steam Beta:
Right-click on Tropico 6 in your Steam library.
Select "Properties."

Dear Tropicans,
after a bit of silence, we have an update for you regarding our Tropico 6 modding plans.
We’ve been busy behind the scenes improving the modkit based on feedback from our modding workshop, and now we are ready for the next step: (You might have already seen it - ) the mod kit is now publicly available - free to download and try.
We have also opened up the modding workshop area of our Discord server, so you can access the download link for the modkit, any information shared during the workshop and have discussions with fellow modders. You can join our discord server via discord.gg/kalypsomedia.
Please note: You do not have to own Tropico 6 in order to use the mod kit. For now you can use this to create mods, but the functionality to use existing mods, is not yet implemented into the game as we are currently still working on this and discussing some details.

Dear Tropicans,
The Tropican Ministry of World Domination and Garden Plots (short: The TM of WoDoGaP) is spilling the beans for you, our Community.
The Ministry of Development and Binary Magic is working closely with the new TM of WoDoGaP and are looking for Tropicans who feel capable of assisting El Presidente in making Tropico the greatest nation there has ever been.
El Presidente has decided to approve official modding support and YOU can be one of the first to actually create an El Presidente approved Tropico 6 Mod and let your imagination run wild.
Our Tropico 6 Team is currently planning to start an exclusive workshop with the ‘Operation Garden Gnome' Modding Workshop. For this, we want to recruit a small group of Binary Magicians who have some previous experience with modding, programming or asset creation, to participate in our workshop and try the ‘Operation Garden Gnome' Tools firsthand. Please keep in mind, that you would be working with the actual developer tools and not an editor. In this test run, you will receive access to our in-development toolkit prior to its official launch, as well as an exclusive closed section of our Discord hub with videos and direct support from our dev and our CM team.
When is all of this happening and how do I participate?
If you would like to participate, please apply via email to modding@kalypsomedia.com with a link to 1-3 examples of your previous modding work along with your Discord tag, so we can invite you to the server and grant you access to the exclusive area for the workshop as well as the toolkit.
Applications will close on the 18th of April, so if you want to take part in this next step for Tropico 6, please make sure to drop us an email before that day.
The workshop will officially kick off on April 26th.
We know that modding is something the community really wishes for, and we see how much value it adds to a game; be that by allowing the community to express themselves creatively or feel involved in expanding the games they love.
We want to support the community with our ‘Operation Garden Gnome’ in taking the first steps with our modding tools, and to provide the opportunity to create the Tropico you want. To honor the Binary Magicians who put a lot of time and effort into creating mods for the community, we will be spotlighting your awesome mods on our channels and giving the modders special discord roles as badges of honor for their hard work.
