Tunche: Arena

1.06 - Fixes and Tweaks

Hello!

How have you all been? Did you get a chance to enjoy the co-op update for Tunche: Arena?
Since that day we have been reading all your feedback and getting some changes ready for a new patch so that you can enjoy Arena even more while you wait for Tunche.

At LEAP we saw that many of you weren’t quite happy with our default keyboard controls. At first we thought we should try and relocate all the keys in a new way that could make it more comfortable for most. But then we realized that what fits most, does not fit all.

In order for Tunche: Arena to be the best experience it can be for keyboard users, we couldn’t just choose new keys. We needed to let you, the players, choose your favorite keyboard configuration.

So for this new Tunche: Arena patch we are adding controller configuration to the game. Now you can choose your favorite keyboard (or controller) set up and get ready to slay some magical enemies in the heart of the jungle.

Just to wrap things up, don’t forget that our Kickstarter campaign is reaching its end. With only a couple of days left and our goal already reached, let me say Thank you very much on behalf of LEAP Game Studios, HypeTrain Digital and myself for helping us out. We promise to give our all to make Tunche the best experience we can make.

See you in the jungle!

New features:

  • New controller and keyboard configuration screen added. Just go to the pause menu and choose controls to create your favorite layout.

List of tweaks and fixes:

  • Bug fixed: It was possible to avoid the boss’ slide attack just by walking on the lower edge of the level. This was not intended. Players should dodge the biting jaw by jumping or staying away from it.
  • Bug fixed: Achievements related to eliminating a certain number of enemies or buying all the skills in the skill tree now work correctly and should be unlockable.
  • Bug fixed: Qaru’s paralyzing skills will no longer interrupt an ennemy’s dying animation.

Co-op is live!

Hello!

It’s been a bit less than half a month since we announced Tunche and released Tunche: Arena to the world and during that time a lot of you have downloaded, and hopefully enjoyed, our little first taste of the adventure that’s to come.

Thanks to all your help, your comments and reviews, as well as a bit of extra live testing during PAX South, we managed to find some bugs and features that needed fixing. This new update addresses many of them and I just wanna take this chance to thank you for helping us make Tunche the best game it can be.

Of course, it wouldn’t be that much fun if there wasn’t something new for you, the player, to try. So in this update we are adding the much requested Local Co-Op Mode for Tunche: Arena. Not only that, you will now also be able to play as our second main character: Qaru, the accursed boy.

Qaru is not a Rumi reskin, while he shares her basic set of moves like rolling and jumping, his attacks are all different and we hope you have as much fun playing as him as we did making sure he is a unique character.

Finally, a lot of players have requested the ability to either configure their keys or choose between different controller layouts. We are working on this right now and hope to have good news soon for all of those having trouble with Tunche’s default keyboard controls.

With all that out of the way, please enjoy this new version of Tunche: Arena.
See you in the leaderboards!

New features:

  • Second playable character Qaru available to play in both horde and endless mode.
  • All of Qaru’s skill tree.
  • Local Co-Op mode available.
  • New results screen after you defeat the final boss.
  • A new set of co-op leaderboards for players to compete on.
  • Health portion key moved from directional arrow down to Q on the keyboard.

List of tweaks and fixes:

  • Bug fixed: The exploding peccary should no longer freeze mid explosion.
  • Bug fixed: Big frog should no longer freeze while rolling either inside or outside the screen.
  • Bug fixed: Big frog will flash again when hit. Its attacks now also include a warning effect like all other enemies.
  • Bug fixed: Big frog will no longer flash before its appearance animation.
  • Bug fixed: Boutu, the evil dolphin, second phase wave attack’s sound should no longer remain active if the player is killed by this attack.
  • Bug fixed: The training dummy critical hit collision was mistakenly placed in front of it, it has now been moved to its back like any other enemy.
  • Tweak: The monkey’s shadow is now much easier to see.

Tunche is hitting Kickstarter on January 14

Hello!

HypeTrain Digital and LEAP Game Studios are excited to announce that hand-drawn Beat’em up Adventure Tunche is coming to Kickstarter on January 14. To celebrate this significant milestone in Tunche’s development we prepared a short animated trailer which debuted at Kinda Funny Games Showcase.

This new trailer’s visuals are a call back to the game hand-drawn art style. The trailer follows the group of 4 protagonists of the game deep into the rainforest. The wild nature of the trailer is complemented by a music track made by 2Mello.
