- Attempted to fix a bug where the roof doesn't disappear when you walk into a building, or when you try to sleep in a bed. I haven't been able to reproduce the issue, so I don't know if this fix will work. Please let me know if you notice this again.
- For instances where you have interviewed Roman but somehow you still have the "interview a ghoul hunter" task, I will make sure this task gets completed if you have already interviewed Roman.
- You will gain a +15% relationship buff with the Elite Cossacks after you complete the quest to take back Oblenska.
Update 1.74-2 Patch Notes
- After completing the hitman job and reaching Erase level, Haruko will start selling crow feather for you to craft Tenchu-Ya. But the crows won't drop feathers until NG+.
- Ravens will occasionally land on dead bodies in the open. Making them very easy targets.
- Fixed a bug where a scripted event that adds new items to a trader's inventory clears out pre-exiting static items in his inventory.
- Ensured that if you have arrived at Tunguska, you will get the The Journey Begins achievement.
- Shortened the task descriptions for several tasks, ensuring that they will display as two lines instead of three, causing overlap with other tasks.
- Stopped border patrol map from spawning new enemies.
- Fixed several collider issues.
Update 1.74-1 Patch Notes
- Further improved the auto-arrange functionality of the inventory grids
- Swapped out Sidor's obnoxious music with some nice cello arrangements.
Update 1.74 Is Ready! And Slaughterhouse DLC Update!
I have just finished building the scene for Slaughterhouse DLC. It took me almost two months, but it looks awesome :)
With the biggest chunk of work out of the way, I was coding for the enemy spawning mechanism and the Ethereal Trader who will sell you all the items in the game throughout the battles. This progressed pretty fast and in a few days I'll be able to start slaughtering :)
Check out this atmospheric shot of the Slaughterhouse map below:
Now, here are some improvements I made in 1.74:
- You will now receive caustic damage from getting puked on by the spitters. A tutorial will pop up on the first time telling you that you must use clean water (from the wells) to wash off the caustic damage. Just right click on the bottle water and then click "Use". Or, you can just wait for the effect to wear off.
- When you have bleeding effect or caustic damage effect, the screen will flash red blood so that you don't overlook it.
- Now, if you eat food, the green bar will slowly convert to energy (blue bar). But if you sit next to a campfire, this process goes faster, and you'll also receive more energy from the eaten calories than when you are away from campfire.
- If you keep your energy level almost full, your stamina restore speed will be significant higher. If you are pretty much 100%, your stamina will restore even faster. This change aims to reduce the amount of frustration when you use melee weapon and run out of stamina - as long as you are well fed.
- Improved the auto-arrange feature, now it'll try to rotate the item if it doesn't fit.
- Hans Eppstein from Zernaskaya Village will sometimes sell you fertilizer.
- Changed the hotkey to switch between Sidearm 1 and Sidearm 2 while in the inventory, from ALT key to CTRL key. This is to prevent confusion when player Alt-Tab out of the game.
- Added sound effect for when you get shot at. Now it sounds like it hurts! Again, another little detail I learned from call of duty...
- Not sure if I mentioned this before - but with control schemes with auto-aim, the red crosshair will now appear at wherever the gun is aiming at, instead of at the foot.
Update 1.73-4 Patch Notes
- Fixed an issue with VSS aiming a little too low, causing difficulty hitting crows using auto-lock-on controls
- Fixed an issue with auto-lock-on aiming at animals too high, causing missed shots
- Decreased the muzzle velocity of 5.45x39mm guns because the faster bullets tend to miss collision at lower frame rates
- Slightly increased the damage of M16 and 5.56x45mm ammo for balancing.
Happy Halloween! & New DLC Update!
Dear Ghoul Hunters,
I just wanted to say thank you for all the support and patience! I'm about to take my kids out for trick-or-treating, but I thought I might drop an image of what I'm working on - the mugshot of the Slaughterhouse DLC (actual name TBD) map! It took me more than a month to model the buildings and other objects, and still much more work to fill the scene with plants and other furnishing. But it's coming along nicely :)
Basically this DLC is a fun little horde survival mode, where you will fight against waves of minions sent forth by Valentin the Mean Evil Villain Boss, while keeping them from reaching the Shrine of Mighty Strength that will replenish Valentin's power. And once you defeat the minions, you will face the All-New Facelifted Valentin whom you defeated back in Doownevar! Of course, this is my current idea and I will gradually improve upon it :)
Once I set up the scene I will create the official DLC page and announce the tentative release date :)
Happy Halloween again, and good hunting!
Update 1.73-3 Patch Notes
This update attempts to further improve gamepad controls.
- Fixed a bug where controller binding for camera rotation doesn't work
- Now, when the camera rotation button bindings are set, while aiming/melee the Right Stick will not rotate camera left/right
- Improved the aiming target selection to favor closer enemies
- An indicator of controller right stick direction will be displayed when aiming or melee
- Added the ability to cancel the controller button binding window by pressing Dpad left/right
Update 1.73-2 Patch Notes
This is a small patch that improves the combat handling for gamepad:
- While aiming or during melee, the right stick zone that will rotate the camera is decreased to only when you push the stick to the upper limit. This is to help player avoid accidentally rotating camera while aiming with the right stick
- Also during aiming/melee, the camera rotation with right stick is decreased as well, to make it less jarring if player happens to accidentally rotate the camera
- Increased the angle of scan while aiming at enemy very close to you, in other words, when they are very close to you, you only need to tilt the right stick towards their general direction and will easily get a lock on.
Update 1.73-1 Patch Notes
- Moved the camera closer to the player so that the player is more near the center of the screen
- The "SIDEARM" header in the body slots will show the corresponding key/controller button (ALT vs RSB) for swapping between the two slots in the inventory
- Sitting by the campfire will now (over time) grant player almost 2x as much energy as the eaten calories (green bar). So if you don't have a sleeping bag, you can just eat some food and sit next to the campfire to convert the food into energy.
- Fixed a bug with controllers not able to choose the "Fight!" option during the intro.
- Fixed a bug with controller button binding getting messed up after you make a change.
Steam Deck Verified!! QoL Improvements; Survival Mode DLC in Progress!
Great news: Tunguska is now officially supporting Steam Deck and it's verified by Steam! It took me two months of reworking the UI, going back and forth with Steam to finally pull it off :) If you have a Deck, try it out and see how you like it :)
I have always wanted to make a survival mode, where you get to utilize your skills and all of the equipment in the game to defend a location from endless waves of enemies. Now it's a work-in-progress! Here's a screenshot of the 3D model I've been working on for the scene:
It's a 3-story building, with multiple entrances on each floor that you must defend from the enemies, who will be trying to get to the 3rd floor to rescue a captured boss. As you kill these invaders you will pick up power-ups that you can use to exchange for better gear. Let me know if you have any cool ideas:)
Now, some quality-of-life improvements included in 1.73:
- Buffed the damage for buckshots at point blank ranges (0-3 meters)
- Added controller and keyboard glyphs to the item description panel, to show various tricks on manipulating the items
- Added a Rearrange Items button for chests. But if you click on it it will ask you to confirm that you want to do that.
- Jian Jun and Roman will now offer Guide (fast travel) to each other's location. Jian Jun can also take you back to Zernaskaya village.
- Fixed the origin of the throwing trajectory to avoid confusion
- "Ghost of Valentin" DLC will be enabled by default in the game since it's that time of the year again!
- Now you can change screen resolution while playing on Steam Deck
- Fixed a bug where using the controller to sprint will make you stop sprinting at 20% stamina
- When sneaking, you will very slowly lose stamina. When sneaking while over-carrying, you will lose stamina faster.
- When closing the radial button while using controller, the right stick will not rotate camera until you first zero the stick. This is to prevent unwanted camera rotation
- Higher tier NPCs will have a chance to equip the high intensity headlamp, giving them a wider and further illuminated view cone at night.
- Fixed a bug with the talon rock not able to be interacted with.
