  • The default circuit hotlap start position is now the same as in race, but it is possible to start or restart further back
  • Added immediate restart (Ctrl+Backspace by default), starts further back when hotlapping in a circuit
  • Immediate restat starts further back if hotlapping (distance defined by Respawning / Hotlap Behind Distance)
  • Added setting Respawning / Start Behind When Hotlapping to always start hotlapping from the behind position
  • Vehicles being refueled are now by default immovable (uncheck Pit / Immovable Pit Stop to disable)
  • Refueling bar now shows the estimate on how many laps the fuel lasts (or percentage if no estimate)
  • Levels with pits must now define a pit slowdown area - how much (if any) slowdown there is is defined by event pit settings
  • Slowdown area can be defined either by corner points (convex polygon) or entrance/exit points (two checkpoint line segments with directions)
  • Added pit slowdown areas and some new decorations to the built-in circuits
  • The amount of fuel consumption inside the pit slowdown area can be changed (1/3 by default)
  • It is now possible to finalize a circuit without a pit, too
  • Editors now show messages on the amount of fuel if fuel is on when testing

  • Fixed equal ghost mode start positions not really being equal if the level had overridden start positions
  • Fixed not being able to place paint textures correctly on certain places on certain vehicle models in Customizer
  • Miscellaneous other minor fixes and improvements

Update Notes for v0.88

  • Added experimental fuel game mode: when on, cars can run out of fuel or refuel by making a pit stop
  • There are lots of event specific fuel settings: how long fuel lasts (seconds of full gas), refueling time, empty tank slowdown and full tank slowdown
  • The default drafting speed effect is smaller now (10% vs. the old 20%), also renamed the Viscosity Reduction setting as Speed Effect
  • The most important drafting settings are now shown before an event (and the server also shows info about changes)
  • It is now possible to save session standings (bottom-right save icon), making it possible to continue a session later - or just check the standings and graphs
  • Standings can be loaded at the Session Init state - levels, vehicles and settings are not saved with standings so a session can be continued with different levels, too
  • To support loading standings in local games (or to check the standings of an old game), a local game can now also be started with a Session Init lobby (the gear icon)
  • Added a new more fair Spread Tag mode in which the first initially tagged player who tags someone else gets untagged
  • The new default tag mode is now Spread tag with two initially tagged players, with the first one being able to transfer the tag
  • If there are 20 Tag Start Positions in a level now, they are used for everyone when respawning as tagged (previously only the initially tagged used them)
  • Added information about the tag mode and start positions to the level editor help texts
  • It is now possible to give bonus points for players who survive untagged in Spread Tag (+5 by default)
  • Only dedicated servers automatically end a tag game now if there is only one player
  • Fixed interleaved team positions sometimes ending a team tag game immediately (if a tagged player position was skipped)
  • Cars driven by local humans are no longer shown as ghosts when watching a recording of a ghost race
  • Added a warning when trying to finalize a track with unbuilt roads (still ok if really intended)
  • Miscellaneous other minor fixes and improvements

Tag games are here!

The game now includes a fun new game mode, Tag, with two variations: Spread and Tansfer.

In Spread tag, getting tagged is permanent and the game ends when everyone is tagged. In Transfer tag, the tag is transferred and the goal is to stay untagged - or get rid of the tag as quickly as possible. There are two built-in tag arenas, but of course, players can also make their own tag levels with the level editor, or play tag in levels made for other game modes, too.

Update Notes for v0.87.5 (Minor update, client only)

  • Tag game mode now has its own special camera preset (preset 0, on by default on tag levels), use Camera settings to tune or disable it
  • Tag game mode now shows player markers by default (to make it easier to see from the name color who is tagged and who is not)
  • Tag and sumo event stats screen now shows more info about how the rank was determined (hover over the results to see the info as tooltips)
  • The time before start lights go off is now subtracted from the times shown in tag and sumo event results
  • When watching a recording, non-free camera now handles playback speed changes better, e.g. not lagging behind in fast speed and stopping when paused
  • Most soccer camera settings can now be updated while the game is running, also changed some related settings
  • Miscellaneous other minor fixes and improvements

Update Notes for v0.87

  • Added a new experimental tag game mode with two main variations:

    • In Spread Tag, tags are permanent and players gain positions by remaining untagged, or by tagging untagged players when tagged
    • In Transfer Tag, tags are transfered from tagged players to untagged players and positions are gained by getting and staying untagged
    • Two tag levels are included, but any level can be played in tag game mode if Force Tag Event is enabled
  • It is now possible to see current event stats when playing a recording by right-clicking the stats button (or left-clicking in modes without graphs)
  • Added Record Everything recording setting, also added Record Session which records events in the current/next session and then disables itself
  • Added support for new customization packs (coming soon)
  • It is now possible to cancel being ready to start an event at the session init state
  • Resetting expanded subfolders in graphics settings now doesn't reset root level settings anymore (as it would reset the quality level and everything else)
  • Updated Unity version, possibly fixing some random issues
  • Level loading timer is not started until the host has loaded the level - helps slower client machines having more time to load complex levels
  • Fixed info panel staying on screen when playing a recording that does not have the beginning of the event recorded
  • Fixed last selected level and vehicle not correctly remembered in selectors
  • Fixed (by disabling) look back button in the new Shift+7/8 spectator cameras
  • Fixed long track descriptions overflowing as tooltips
  • Miscellaneous other minor fixes and improvements

Drafting brings a new dimension to racing

Version 0.86 introduced a new optional feature, drafting, also known as slipstreaming. When it is on, vehicles gain more speed when driving behind others, making overtaking easier. This adds a whole new dimension to racing, especially on otherwise simple tracks like oval speedways. As is customary in Turbo Sliders Unlimited, there are lots of related settings for the host to tune.

To ensure fair play, lap times achieved with the help of drafting are not eligible for leaderboards.

Update Notes for v0.86.3

(This is a client-only update - v0.86 is still the latest server version and compatible with this.)

  • Added new experimental built-in spectator camera modes:

    • Shift+5: Trackside camera changing position automatically (controlled by camera setting Trackside Camera Interval, tune with numpad 7, 1, 8 and 2)
    • Shift+6: Trackside camera that smoothly changes positions
    • Shift+7: Smoothed movable camera that also looks at the target and keeps it within the wanted distance (tunable with numpad 7 and 1)
    • Shift+8: Smoothed freely movable camera that also looks at target
    • Shift+9: Smoothed free camera
  • In-game free look (e.g. in built-in camera mode 9 and Shift+9) is now smoothed by the Smoothing setting (adjustable with numpad + and -)
  • The default screen mode is now non-exclusive fullscreen (exclusive causes issues for some, especially with Alt+Tab, but you can re-enable it if you want)
  • Added settings in Graphics/Nature to be able to adjust tree detail and LOD levels
  • Reduced the default tree detail level to help with performance issues in levels with lots of trees
  • The default button in various settings windows now also has the option to only reset the values in the currently expanded folders
  • Fixed player marker texts sometimes looking twitchy or jumpy when playing recordings (and using Tab twice to see them)
  • Test spawning button in the level editor now works in sumo and soccer levels, too (using the start positions)
  • Less lag when opening the level selector with lots of possible levels
  • Added experimental support for Vulkan and DX12 instead of DX11 - to enable, use command line parameter -force-vulkan or -force-d3d12
  • Minor layout changes and fixes in stats and chart windows
  • Miscellaneous other minor fixes and improvements

Creativity unleashed by Turbo Sliders Unlimited players

The Turbo Sliders Unlimited in-game level editor allows anyone to create all kinds of levels and share them with the Steam Workshop. This clip features some of the sumo levels made by players.

In sumo, your goal is to push others away from the game area - or just to survive. All these levels and many more are available for anyone to download.
