The Deeper Underground playtest has started!

Dear oil entrepreneurs,

You can start up your drilling engines and playtest the (English language only*) campaign from Deeper Underground right now!

The playtest will not run for very long (probably one or two weeks), so start drilling away, and thanks in advance for filling out our survey!

The wait for the multiplayer update is almost over, the playtest server will be closed tomorrow (25th of November) to prepare for the multiplayer update.

Playtest update: New Multiplayer Menu

Dear Turmoil Testers,

Today’s update features a completely new menu for multiplayer and a set of small tweaks and fixes. You can find the patch notes below.


  • New Multiplayer Menu
  • Leaving private games no longer counts towards left games
  • You are no longer stuck in the leavers queue forever and will be allowed back in the normal queue after some time
  • Fixed issue with determining your rank in case of an early win
  • Fixed issue where config for starting money in private games didn't work
  • Fixed issue where you could accept a game invite multiple times, creating multiple games


As usual, the questionnaire has been updated as well. We appreciate it a lot if you'd fill out the new questions.

Hotfix 3.0.69a - end of game fixes

Good day Turmoil Testers!

We bring to you a small hotfix after receiving several reports of multiplayer games getting stuck at the end of the game. This fix works retroactively for existing games, so if you got stuck after the last update your game will be playable again.

Changelog



  • Fixed an issue where end-of-game dialog would not trigger and the entire town would be stuck/unclickable

Playtest update: auction and friends list tweaks

Dear Turmoil Testers,

Today's update contains another set of small tweaks and adjustments. You can find the patch notes below.

Auctions



  • Multiplayer land auction now shows open slots for all bids that have to be made. In addition, the "submit" button is shown in a greyed out state until you have placed all the required offers, to make it more clear that you have to keep adding offers.
  • A tooltip has been added to the multiplayer stock auction explaining the interaction between loans and the maximum offer that you can make.

Friends list



  • The friends list now shows the online status of Steam friends.
  • Friends search results now contain partial matches instead of having to enter the name precisely.
  • Custom game menu: searching for non-friend players to add uses the new friends search.

Leaving and AFK players



  • Added message to indicate when a player has left a game.
  • Added message to indicate when an opponent's turn is skipped or when they are kicked due to being inactive for too long.
  • Added message to indicate when your own turn is skipped due to the timer running out.

Misc



  • Loading animation: fixed the positioning of the shadow of the small wheel and the large wheel’s shadow now actually rotates.
  • Town pause menu: Added progress circle to show when the back to menu button will become active.
  • Fixed an issue where the bug report menu would sometimes be layered behind other menus.

Custom game settings and stock auction improvements

Dear Turmoil Testers,

Today we are happy to bring you a new version of the playtest. The highlights of today are extended custom game options and improvements to the stock auction interface.

Custom game settings


A settings sub-menu has been added to the custom game screen which allows you to configure the following game properties.

  • Which campaign to play (currently only one available).
  • Starting money.
  • Turn timer length (or disable it).
  • Enable/Disable computer opponents. Disabling computer opponents will keep the slots empty similar to the previous version of the playtest.
  • Set computer opponent difficulty (choose from classic, intermediate and expert difficulties).


Stock auction changes


We made a few modifications to the stock auction UI:

  • Added a timeline of all the future auctions and how much stocks will be auctioned.
  • Added a display of which bid won the last auction.


Other changes



  • Fixed an issue where accepting a custom game invite with a bad connection would sometimes create multiple games with the same players.
  • The default language has been set to english and all other languages disabled. Multiplayer specific texts have not been translated yet. Playing in non-english languages will currently display a bunch of errors so we disabled it.


Questionaire changes


The questionaire has been updated for the latest version. As usual, it will pop up after closing the game. Please fill out the new version even if you already participated before. Thanks!
