Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing well! I'll just post a quick, short announcement that the game will be discounted by 85% for a while! I wanted to make it free (forever!) for a couple of weeks, but unfortunately looks like that won't be possible.

I'd say it's worth playing (of course). It's a short game and can be played quite easily over a day or a weekend, and gives off some strong indie FPS vibes! If you like the old CoD campaigns, or some older FPS games you might enjoy some of the nostalgia in TV189.

Description


TV189 is a short action game set in a dystopian near-future. Created by a passionate solo indie game developer, TV189 features 9 carefully curated levels designed to help the player master the art of intuition as their skills are put to the test with close-quarters combat as well as puzzle based gameplay. I believe the player should be in the centre of the experience by including a skill tree: giving you the choice between strength and ammunition abilities.

The game features a thoroughly written story expressed through a mix of voice acted cutscenes, in-game notes & documents in an expansive, constantly evolving plot. From waking up in a morgue at an underground facility to going on recovery/assassination missions, TV189 utilizes a range of gameplay types oriented around a variety-driven user experience.

Exploration into the map is rewarded with much-needed ammunition and transmitters. Use these transmitters to upgrade your character either to conserve ammo more efficiently or regenerate health faster with 15 different skills to learn and unlock, with 2 final 'master abilities'.

What's different?


I completely remade every single level - not in the sense of a remaster, but essentially what is a new game. I've added a Skill Tree & Inventory System that transfers across all levels as-well as a launcher and voice acted cutscenes. The UI has been completely reworked to look more modern and sleek and the audio has been reconfigured and normalized so it's less ... for a better word, painful.

I've also removed all the old weapons and replaced them with new PBR (good looking) alternatives. See the screenshots below for more info.





Price Increase


However, I felt like these changes was worth a price increase from £0.79 to £4.79, as the original game was £2.99. However it will be going on sale more often, and benefitting from more visibility rounds. I'm going to take a break from development for a bit, and see how it goes before coming back to add more.

April Development Update

First off,
I think we, as well as everyone are praying for mankind. My deepest condolences to everyone who is suffering from, or knows someone who is suffering from the COVID-19 Pandemic. I think we, as a race will push through this, it's dark days, but there will be an end to it.

I live in the United Kingdom, I am following government advice and self isolating, but I will not let it stop me from working on the game. Development will go on as usual. (I never did real life meetings anyways)

More bad news coming up!



My hard drive corrupted and I lost all my files, I'm recovering scattered backups from across the internet to salvage the project, and I have around 60-70% recovered but this will impede development, but I haven't stopped this failure on my part stop my motivation to keep going.

Development Update, October 2019

So its the 19th October. Mid-day.

TV189 Development Progression has admittedly slowed, due to the return of school. I will personally admit that it is annoying that it does take 10 hours to create 10 minutes of game-play, but it won't stop me from doing it. I enjoy creating this, It has been the largest project of my life so far, I have invested over a year into it now. There has been up's and down's, and it is nowhere near the end of the development cycle, but it as an existence has travelled so far along the plain of development cycle, not only growing as a game, but also growing me as a person.

I can say full well, that as a 16 year old my brain is nowhere near finished growing so I am bound to make some stupid errors, the problem with the original release, that it was all self-tested, but now I can full-well say that there has been testing done, and unlike other development studios, we are fixing what is found to be sub-par in testing, then testing again! Refining the experience for the user.

Anyways onto the Important stuff . . .

The Important Stuff


LUA Scripting for Zombies Mode is almost complete, We have added a bunch more weapons, giving a large weapon variety of over 70 weapons! Zombies mode maps are coming along nicely, but lets not forget the story-mode, which is being abandoned in newer games.

Cutscenes! We have made a cutscene, and are planning to make more, they are quite short but they give a well explanation of what is going on!

Custom Launcher is being made as I type this, It is coming along nicely too!

More Scripts! We are using scripts to deepen the TV189 experience.

Personal Life


I started 6th form in September, I am doing Computer Science, IT and Economics! This should set me up for a computer science degree!

I have been busy recently but I have been working on TV189 fairly reguarly.

Zombies Mode!

Good evening gamers,

So the core scripting for the zombies mini-game is complete.
After only about 20 hours of pick-and-mixing scripts we have a stable system for economy in the minigame.

Next step is level design, I aim to release atleast 2 maps in the fall update, but cannot promise anything since I wouldnt like to compromise on quality for these maps.

After that it is onto polishing up the HUD, menu's incorporating it into the launcher and final compiling, before we move onto testing.

But progression is going good and I believe this is a large improvement on the previous version.

Progress Update

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all having a wonderful day.
I've been working hard on the game, We are including some extremely detailed levels, and I gotta say, It is really coming along. I am extremely happy with what we have so far.

We are working on cutscenes, rather than the ( Quite frankly terrible ) radio messages that are included currently, We are upgrading all of the weapons to more enhanced weapons.

We are outsourcing our scripting which allows us to include a wider range of mechanics.

But I've got to say, As my hours developing Games goes up, I am getting better with every click, and this being my first large project, I think its going well. We have sold nearly 300 copies, which is to me, quite staggering. Just the thought that people actually sit at home playing something I made, and I don't want to be like those developers who just make something and abandon it.

Woody is going to help out with the creation of the Zombies minigames, which will be included in our new launcher, so thats coming along great!

I gotta say, I am mind-blown with how good this is coming along as we approach our first year.

Progress Update.

Well I have been very busy, taking full advantage of my time off from school.
I went to the Dominican Republic for Two Weeks which was fun, but anyways your probably here to find information about the game, and good news, here are some things we have completed.

Pickup Objects


This allows us to implement the following
- Moveable cover
- Moveable objects
- Moveable explosives

This also allows for more complex gameplay mechanics which we are striving to add to make the game more diverse.

Game Launcher


We are adding in the launcher currently, before we develop the minigames, this
should let us have a centralised hub for everything to be in, like links to our discord, twitter and youtube.
This was one of our main targets when we set out to do this update and it is
great.

Meet Woody!
Woody is a new employee here at TrollbaeStudios, his main job is to help with modelling and level design to speed up the process, we are currently training him a bit more before we give him work on more important shenanigans, but for now hes coming along good. Hes turning out to have a future in the development industry

Compass/Radar

This will help the user locate enemies aswell as serve an aesthetic purpose.

Realistic Civillians


Thanks to online paid assets we now have a working script that allows for civillians to run away from gunfire. This will allow us to develop all sorts

HUD Overhaul


We have worked on a HUD Overhaul to improve its aesthetic, its currently mid-development, but its getting along nicely.

Minigames Collectables Script


We have also added a collectables script that makes a level based around finding a specified amount of an item, this should allow us to design some fun minigames, and I can assure you its better than the inefficent, impractical anti-fun "hunt the key" element implemented currently into level 1.

Tutorial Added


We have added a tutorial level in which the player is taught the in's and out's of the games mechanics, and if you dont want to do it, you can just run right past it.

New Enhanced Weapons


We have implemented new weapons into the game, replacing the originals, although some classic originals could be found in the minigames.

We are also working on lots more but I would want to spoil anything.

First Person to Third Person Transition

For the mega update, I am changing the game from its current first person perspective to third person in order to be like more horror games of its type. If you don't know ( First Person is a POV, from the eyes of the character, whereas third person is from a separate camera following the character ). I do believe this is a change for the better although the old TV189 will be included in this new update as a side play.
